my uncle used to wear a string vest. It was indeed holey

My dear old Dad loved a string vest, no idea what use they were given the holes in them Grin

Shapps was very peeved on Sophy Ridge not to be able to talk about the A66 and bicycles.
He flatly denied Cummings had gone up again to Durham. A member of the public at one point got the number plate and with some sleuthing (footage of him outside his house) established it was Cummings. Trouble is... I can't remember if that was at the Castle visit or what

Oh here he is... Shapps and Marr.

Poor Grant. He now has the guidance printed out.

I'm disgusted at Grant Schapps already and he's only been on for a minute.

Even he had to admit if people can be proven to have lied then they are on thin ice and will invariably have to go.

Except this government is full of known and proven liars. Dominic Cummings himself has said publicly that leave only won the Brexit referendum because campaigning on 350m NHS and Turkey, both lies. They are only in the positions they're in because of lying. Lying works.

Grant Shapps "yes the advice still stands"

Report
SouthWestmom · 24/05/2020 09:57

Marr requiring Shapps to admit the advice stands. But you also have to break it if you have a four year old.

'In this case' like DC is the only dad in the world

That makes me wrong alread then OP Grin

I suppose Piers thinks he's equally untouchable. He decamped to his second home in the country, just as everyone else was being told it wasn't OK to do that because of limited local resources.

I thought DC said they looked after their son, Shapps made it sound then like the child was in the adjacent house.

At the end of the day, we were told NOT to mix with elderly relatives to protect the NHS and save lives.

So most of us adhered to this rule, which is why most of us had to juggle working from home whilst trying to supervise and formally educating small children.

But those who govern us don't have to abide by the rules they made?

Hmm

In the Spectator article the child was nursing daddy.

Grant schapps must have done something very bad to deserve a second round!

@JudyCoolibar
The guardian reported that they have been asking Downing Street about DC movements for weeks, so they must have known it may come out. Not at all surprising if their (quietly published) May update about children was because of that.

On a different note, Grant Shapps yesterday defending DC at press conference because he 'stayed put', surely the new revelations give them a get out for firing him if it proves he didn't? In my opinion his original transgression is enough and we shouldn't lose focus. You don't rotate around the country just in case, potential safeguarding could apply to anyone that got a cough. If both parents were incapacitated/hospitalised then help could have come/child could have been collected.

itsgettingweird · 24/05/2020 09:59

Oh and Grant Shapps hasn't spoken to him directly. So how can he defend him? He doesn't actually know what he did or why?

IF he was in an adjacent house, why could he not do that in London?

If he wasn't (and I have read that he was in the same house as the parents) every rule has been broken. He took COVID to Durham and his 70 something parents

Report
Everytimeref · 24/05/2020 09:59

Now Grant is saying that DC, wasn't symptomatic but then why did DS say he had symptoms the day before.

Apparently anyone who saw him repeatedly after lied but DC is telling the truth.

ultra soft to be fair we are all wrong. We have all stayed at home when we could have just exercised reasonable judgement.

In future, my motto for life when asked by the government to do anything will be

What would Dominic Cummings do?
