BBC1 confirming we won't be hearing from a minister until 5pm.

No update on who will be at the briefing though. Any guesses?

randomer · 24/05/2020 16:00

Dom's kid is doing it. He's using playdoh and his bike to explain whats going on.

GrimmsFairytales · 24/05/2020 16:00

Oww update on BBC, apparently the briefing will be led by BJ. Shock

MabelX · 24/05/2020 16:01

Boris is doing the briefing!

SouthWestmom · 24/05/2020 16:01

They have just said on BBC news it's BJ doing the briefing so unless he's about to also commit career suicide, my money is on him sacking Cummings

cantdothisnow1 · 24/05/2020 16:02

Good, he needs to announce that Boris has resigned and to apologise for the shit show of his cabinet in their response to the allegations.

Anything other than this is inadequate.

cantdothisnow1 · 24/05/2020 16:02

Sorry should say that Cummings has resigned not Boris.

SouthWestmom · 24/05/2020 16:03

Love how in a national pandemic at a time of crisis over leadership everyone is shocked and it's newsworthy the bloody PM is doing the briefing.

Isn't he good, on a Sunday as well, and with a new baby?

The tragic thing is I could totally see that happening.

I expect more mentions about safeguarding, it was allowed all along, caring parent, and he won't be sacked.

SixesAndEights · 24/05/2020 16:05

Wishful thinking that Johnson goes as well!!

This shitshow of a government needs them both gone and someone of some sort of partial competence in charge.

That would be no one at the present time, so I guess we're stuck.

Zampa · 24/05/2020 16:05

Noticed on my daily run how much busier it was on the roads today. If Boris doesn't sack Cummings at 5, lockdown is over for most people.

StealthPolarBear · 24/05/2020 16:05

"

That speech is too concise and to the point. More waffling needed.

Do we have a tally of how many he's actually attended? Grin

StealthPolarBear · 24/05/2020 16:06

And the ever increasing "Look,"

UnaOfStormhold · 24/05/2020 16:06

Due to this government's incompetence we locked down too late and still don't have either the case levels or the track and trace system that would let us lift lockdown safely. It wasn't because of the government that I locked down but because of the risks, and because of those risks I'm going to carry on regardless of what the government does or says. But I greatly fear that DC's actions have fatally undermined lockdown now and the inevitable second wave is going to be as unnecessarily bad as the first one. We have been so badly betrayed.

jumpingwithjoy · 24/05/2020 16:07

Just watched the news and I'm so shocked to see the reporters flocking round DC shoving cameras and microphones in his face with absolutely NO social distancing happening at all!
These are the same reporters that are baying for his blood for breaking government guidelines when they are all over the tv doing the exact same thing!!!! It's outrageous!!!!

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 24/05/2020 16:07

Sorry should say that Cummings has resigned not Boris

Freudian slip there?

StealthPolarBear · 24/05/2020 16:07

Geimms I'm not convinced he even watches them! What's on on ITV at the same time?

Nearlyalmost50 · 24/05/2020 16:08

Boris will sack him, he's let everyone else spin and retweet and try to head off the disaster, it didn't work, his own hands are relatively clean on that front, and now he's going to look all leadery and let them take the fall!

Saladmakesmesad · 24/05/2020 16:09

And the ever increasing "Look,"

Yes! What is UP with that?! Are they trying to sound honest and frank???

GrimmsFairytales · 24/05/2020 16:09

I'm not defending the reporters behaviour, but not keeping 2m apart outside is in no way comparable to driving 260 miles with a family member who had coronavirus.

RandomNameGenerator2020 · 24/05/2020 16:10

I've just been to Morrison's (only place round here to get eggs). It's party central inthere. Everyone round here had been very compliant but now it looks like lockdown is well and truly over.

Looks like our libertarian govt are enacting their herd immunity policy via the back door and making it look like it's all our choice.

Enjoyed the Sunday Times today - in a farcical tragic "it's all coming crashing down" kind of way.

SixesAndEights · 24/05/2020 16:10

I'm not so sure he'll be sacked. I'm so cynical that I think Johnson will announce an "investigation" ...

....and then no one can ask questions about it because it will be under official investigation.
