I said to DH that Patel didn't tweet her support as far as I know
"Probably couldn't find the buttons" was his reply.
What a fucking shower.
It's not Cummings being a twat that's the problem. Twats do what twats do (especially when they are paid from taxpayers' money). It's the second rate pieces of shit supporting him.

SouthWestmom · 24/05/2020 14:39

Patel retweeted it like a coward

Also Suella should go. She's attorney general - responsible for the law in the country being upheld. There were fines for breaking lockdown. She defended corona Cummings. Her FB age has people saying her position is now undeniably untenable.
She's yet to answer my email asking if I should actually follow the rules - or my own judgement?

MrsFezziwig · 24/05/2020 14:40

TBF I would have sacked Cummings just for dancing to ABBA.

Roussette · 24/05/2020 14:41

I am so disappointed in Rishi Sunak. He came straight out supporting DC. It's not that I like him, but I feel he has slightly more about him than the rest of them, and he's good at pubic speaking.
Wonder who is going to be the lamb to slaughter for today's press briefing

mrsspooky · 24/05/2020 14:42

Andrew Marr show is excellent. The constant lies and dodging has massively come to a point with this. It was bad enough with the statistics fudging and now they are just denying the public understood their message. Just rude.

JacobReesMogadishu · 24/05/2020 14:42

Transport secretary was saying the barnard Castle day out was ok as would be past the 14 day isolation period.

JacobReesMogadishu · 24/05/2020 14:42

So if not isolating allowed out for shopping or a walk?

Saladmakesmesad · 24/05/2020 14:43

Apparently there is photographic evidence of DC’s car at Barnard Castle.

Looking forward to this coming out, and I'm sure there will be more sightings, since he's been arrogant enough to swan about. Probably people who saw him and thought 'Didn't realise Corona Cummings was in the neighbourhood' but only now realise the significance of it. Hopefully some more photographic evidence too. With enough of a delay for him and his Tory puppets to deny it first (which they've already done to an extent) and then be proven liars.

tiredvommachine · 24/05/2020 14:43

@ListeningQuietly I have for the first time ever, emailed my Tory MP using the template a pp posted earlier (not sure if it was this thread or another and sorry for not giving credit where credit due)

I’m contacting you as my local MP. I am appalled by the actions of Dominic Cummings and even more appalled by the way the Cabinet has obviously been instructed to rally round him. It is shocking to me that our elected politicians are defending this aide who has quite clearly broken the rules of the lockdown set up to protect everyone.

This fundamentally undermines the integrity of the Conservative party and the message that we are all in this together and all making sacrifices to keep each other safe.

Are you prepared to state publicly that what you think he did was wrong? If not, will you be issuing new guidance locally to say that we can all travel to relatives however far away while we, or a member of our household, has Covid19?

Thank you for your time.

The80sweregreat · 24/05/2020 14:44

Yes, Grant Shapps did look vaguely happy when he could confirm that if Dom had gone out it was after the 14 day quarantine period.
Only time he perked up abit

StealthPolarBear · 24/05/2020 14:45

But surely that was him driving to exercise? Which was banned at the time.

Saladmakesmesad · 24/05/2020 14:45

Deeply disappointed in Jenny Harries. She may not have directly endorsed this but she is complicit in this now. She stood there and made vague excuses about circumstances, and safeguarding, and common sense.

ListeningQuietly · 24/05/2020 14:46

Well done.
Its a habit worth getting into
because petitions are ignored but emails into their offices can be traced
and tend to get acted upon.

We pay our elected representatives.
they work for us

derxa · 24/05/2020 14:46

,

Saladmakesmesad · 24/05/2020 14:47

I emailed my MP too. Even though I already know he's an arrogant, coldhearted bastard.

Please, don't let this go away.

Lemons1571 · 24/05/2020 14:47

I can’t imagine Whitty having a bar of all this. He is the only one of the lot of them with any integrity (maybe also Vallance). Imagine he’s taken a huge step away from the press stuff until Thursday.

chomalungma · 24/05/2020 14:47

But surely that was him driving to exercise? Which was banned at the time

There were pictures of people being shamed in the Daily Mail for driving to exercise.

Barnard Castle is 30 miles from Durham.

SabrinaThwaite · 24/05/2020 14:50

Transport secretary was saying the barnard Castle day out was ok as would be past the 14 day isolation period

How does he know that? He can’t say when DC drove up to Durham, or when his Covid symptoms started or when they ended.

According to Wakefield:

After a week, we reached peak corona uncertainty. Day six is a turning point, I was told: that’s when you either get better or head for ICU. But was Dom fighting off the bug or was he heading for a ventilator? Who knew? I sat on his bed staring at his chest, trying to count his breaths per minute. The little oxygen reader we’d bought on Amazon indicated that he should be in hospital, but his lips weren’t blue and he could talk in full sentences, such as: ‘Please stop staring at my chest, sweetheart.’

No doubt going to hospital would have been a bit tricky, what with explaining why you were turning up at University Hospital Durham when you were supposed to be 250 miles away.

derxa · 24/05/2020 14:50

Anyone else watching the Scotland briefing? Me. The SNP sniping at WM govt shenanigans and squirming about sending people from hospital into care homes. Nobody is squeaky clean

JacobReesMogadishu · 24/05/2020 14:51

Well I’m sure DC will latch onto this excuse and ensure is date of symptoms starting will make sure he was ok to be out on the date he was seen. He’s a total snake and I’m sure will lie to try and save his neck.

ssd · 24/05/2020 14:53

They aren't squirming derxa, she's answering the questions asked. Mistakes have been and she isn't denying it.

SouthWestmom · 24/05/2020 14:55

Do we think he's crept out the back? He's been in there for hours.

OP posts:
GrimmsFairytales · 24/05/2020 14:55

derxa If you want to see squirming, watch our briefing from last night, or Shapps interviews this morning.

Daffodil1967 · 24/05/2020 14:56

I feel we’re no longer “All in this together “.
I hope people don’t get so angry that they themselves ignore lockdown, this would be disastrous.
