his was the sunny Easter weekend when the chief nurse was begging everyone to stay at home and save lives

That's going to be awkward.

It's a good attack ad though - link Johnson, Cummings comment's to the comments of the Chief Nurse at the time for the weekend.

Roussette · 24/05/2020 10:40

And Shapps was given a list of q's he was going to be asked on Sky. So that he could have an answer.
All I heard was 'I don't know'

itsgettingweird · 24/05/2020 10:41

Ken I'm not a Tory voter. I did vote Tory this time. Not because im a party fan but because I felt at the time it was best for the country. (Clearly I'm as thick as DC 🤦‍♀️). I commented on that thread a week ago I thought they were trying their best in unprecedented times but acknowledged there were mistakes.
Amazing how a week later you can feel a complete knob for having those views Angry

Laaf80 · 24/05/2020 10:42

One of these days a govt spokesman is going to lose their shit mid sentence and start ranting about how difficult and humiliating it is to be chosen to lie and deceive the public.

I pray I’m watching live when it happens.

BlueBrian · 24/05/2020 10:46

Tory backbenchers now lining up to give DC a good kicking, he's pissed too many off in the past, it's pay back time.

Roussette · 24/05/2020 10:47

I felt Shapps was a teensy weensy bit close to losing his shit this morning, despite the calm demeanour. There are only so many ways you can say the same wrong thing

StealthPolarBear · 24/05/2020 10:48

itsgettingweird I've never voted for them but at the beginning of this I was willing to give the benefit of the doubt and assume people were doing their best in difficult circumstances . As you say, what fools we were.

HandsOffMyRights · 24/05/2020 10:50

Originally you could go out for exercise even with symptoms,

This was not the case when I was ill April 1, the same timeline for DC.

beanaseireann · 24/05/2020 10:51

Laaf80
I'd love to watch that too.

It would be like that scene in the film Network where the presenter breaks down on live tv and says "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore."

SouthWestmom · 24/05/2020 10:51

I think emails to MPs is important because it shows the impact in numbers. It's not the same as Twitter or other SM.

My MP has been fantastic with an issue we had and is a Tory. I'm going to email to say I understand if she feels the need to keep the party line but want to register my concern for xyz reasons.

I just hope Starmer has enough middle class veneer to tempt people away at the next election.

This was not the case when I was ill April 1, the same timeline for DC.

I don't know when it changed, but I was just clarifying that it was allowed at one point.

frumpety · 24/05/2020 10:54

I wonder if they popped in to visit the IL's at Chillingham Castle whilst they were up North ?

StealthPolarBear · 24/05/2020 10:57

I agree there was a point where you could exercise outside if I'll, remember thinking how odd it was

HandsOffMyRights · 24/05/2020 10:57

Grimms, yes sorry, you'd already said you weren't sure when it changed and I should have included that part.

He definitely wasn't 'covered' during this time frame.

OhIWouldDrive260Miles · 24/05/2020 10:57

Another one here who was keeping an open mind about the government, and was impressed when the furlough measures etc were announced. I’m not a Tory voter.

Feel like I’m on my own now just trying to decide what is best for me and my family.

I expect absolutely nothing more from this Government. It has shown such contempt for ordinary people while we are all at risk from a virus that doesn’t care about politics or the rich list.

HandsOffMyRights · 24/05/2020 10:58

I wonder if they popped in to visit the IL's at Chillingham Castle whilst they were up North ?

Grin LoL

SouthWestmom · 24/05/2020 11:00

I can't find any update to change the exercise 'only in your home' for people with symptoms issued 12 March.

Joe Pike on twitter

UPDATED: 7 Tory MPs have now called for Cummings to go:
-Steve Baker
-Simon Hoare
-Damian Collins
-Sir Roger Gale
-Sir Peter Bone
-Caroline Nokes
-Craig Whittaker

Plus William Wragg has re-tweeted Mr Baker's tweet, suggesting he is of the same view.

The80sweregreat · 24/05/2020 11:10

People are saying his not going anywhere.

borntobequiet · 24/05/2020 11:15

Well he’s already been there and back, numerous times apparently...

Lemons1571 · 24/05/2020 11:15

@Schrodingerspeanutbuttersandw thank you. I particularly like Gove saying it wasn’t a crime. Weren’t the rules of lockdown made law?
Always a disappointment when you realise that the people who need to the most intelligent, are just not even on the starting block.

Laaf80 · 24/05/2020 11:19

Why didn’t anyone take pictures dammit. It would be lovely if the papers are holding on to images of him dancing to ABBA. Grin

Lemons1571 · 24/05/2020 11:19

@Roussette he needs to lose his shit at DS then. For the public he needs to man up. The interview was on a road to nowhere as DC’s actions are completely indefensible.

lilgreen · 24/05/2020 11:25

There must be cctv.

itsgettingweird · 24/05/2020 11:28

Lil I said that and asked about rules around publishing it. However something tells me all cctv will just disappear into smoke.
