I’m fairly laid back about the new travel rules, but a bit stunned by this photo on bbc website.
I was aware people were getting out and about in the sunshine recently and wondered why so much fuss, until I saw this.

I wouldn’t risk this. Maybe they thin k it’s either all over or fake news.

Southend i think.

Are these people suicidal or something?

We need to be aware that the media has a certain ‘narrative’. They want us to fear going out or stir up terror and hysteria as that is what sells papers.

It’s best to read research papers and more balanced reports. To arm yourself with the facts and make your own measured choices about your own, personal risk. Without putting others at risk obviously.

The photo has been taken in such a way to make you think the beach is crowded and people close together. It's unlikely to be (I am sure the Police would have intervened otherwise).

People are allowed to go to the beach and spend time there.

They are not suicidal. They are follwoing the guidelines (Plus, as mentione din another thread, very very few people under 60yo actually died from covid, unless they had an underlying condition)

I don't think the picture looks dangerous or "suicidal" given how the virus spreads but I do keep wondering where they are all going to the toilet as I heard they are all closed and of course where are they regularly washing their hands? Are people nipping into the sea to relieve themselves, especially the ones with little kids and/or beers in hand?

re the twerps 'jokingly' stealing food from the delivery crates, I was actually quite scared of them. But DS was with me and he takes no prisoners so all the food I think did get to its rightful destinations. Sure the photographer used a telephoto lens, but the beach was heaving. I can absolute guarantee that. No social distancing outside the newly re-opened donut and ice-cream kiosks. No social distancing on the beach. And a lot of people getting off the trains at Westcliff where I was, on big days out from London. It was truly bonkers and surreal when juxtaposed with the fact that some of the people I was delivering to have not been out of their accommodations for 9/10 weeks. I fully expect to see a huge rise in the R number down the c2c line. But we will know in a few weeks
