Seen running out of Downing Street
Went to self isolate with his wife in Durham with his parents when he had symptoms
Seems he had his family with him
He stayed with his wife and his parents looked after the children

Can't get agitated about this. If one of my grown children were ill you bet I'd want them to come here so that I could look after them. My children's lives and well being matter more to me than my own -can't understand parents who don't feel that.

Ultrasoft · 23/05/2020 07:03

I don't understand how you can be so ill you need to expose parents in order to have help with childcare but also able to travel 250 miles.

NoHardSell · 23/05/2020 07:05

When I was talking about some of you being played, I didn't mean by voting for them. You were definitely played if you voted for them! I meant the holier than thou covid police. While they are been oh so busy on mn and fb, spying on their neighbours and reporting them as 'literal murderers', the people who drew up the rules have been pissing themselves laughing at them.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/05/2020 07:10

To be honest I'm not actually bothered that he's done it. It's the bloody hypocrisy that winds me up.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/05/2020 07:12

@BeltaneBride I mean, as a grown adult I don't need my parents to look after me when I'm ill, it's a bit pathetic. Unless of course I'm so ill that I can't get out of bed, which clearly isn't the case here if he's well enough to drive 250 miles.

Ultrasoft · 23/05/2020 07:13

My friend's daughter had a her first baby just before lockdown, she's been desperate for some help from her mum. They spent an hour at opposite ends of the garden this week, just so the new mum could get out of the house and avoid going into anti depressants.....and they felt awful about doing it.

jasjas1973 · 23/05/2020 07:17

You would be if after he stopped at a garage etc you picked it up and gave it to one of your parents who then died without family in an ICU bed.

Unlike the Scottish medical advisor or Ferguson, Cummings was infected, he travelled, went to parents house and someone from that family went off shopping/exercising.

It won't be published in the tory friendly media, they'll lead on a Starmer smear story instead, so he'll survive.

I wont be bothering obeying the rules now.

Ultrasoft · 23/05/2020 07:19

The childcare excuse makes him look bad but I'd bet that is only an excuse. I'd rather put a small child in front if the TV for a few days than drive for hours feeling that unwell and won't they have a nanny anyway? The real reason will be even worse, just that they fancied getting away.

I don't see how he can stay after they sacked the others but I bet he does.

InfiniteSheldon · 23/05/2020 07:21

Full on froth mode activated then Hmm

DemolitionBarbie · 23/05/2020 07:22

He should go if he had any decency, but he doesn't. And Johnson is nothing without him. They'll limp on until corona is almost done then Gove will shove them both out.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 23/05/2020 07:22

How can you not care? Hundreds of people are dying every day and this man knowingly added to the spread. You might care if you were in the motorway services when he presumably stopped to take his child for a wee. Or got petrol. Or if you were in the same supermarket as his parents.
We all have a responsibility to stay home if we have Covid and if the man who made the rules is deliberately spreading it, then to me that is criminal and more than just a sacking offence.

Almahart · 23/05/2020 07:26

There's absolutely no justification for this whatsoever. The guidance was very clear - if you have Coronavirus you don't leave the house.

I would bank on activity going up now as people think fuck this and go and see their loved ones.

I don't know if he will go immediately but I would put money on Johnson not being PM by the end of the year.. he's a liability and the party will want him out after the worst of Coronavirus.

Lumisade · 23/05/2020 07:40

Absolutely appalling behaviour. What a bad example to set to the country.

What if he had had a car accident on his way up to Durham? He would have put the emergency services at great risk. Did he stop to fill up with petrol on the way? Did his child stop to use a toilet? What about his parents? Did they come into contact with him and his family? Who cleaned the rooms they were staying in when they had left? Did they use his parents' kitchen? What if he had infected his parents and they had had to go into hospital?

I can't believe the government stabbed the knife into Neil Ferguson's back when all he did was stay in his flat and have his girlfriend cycle over to see him couple of times, weeks after he had recovered from the virus. Doesn't seem so bad now does he?

Dominic Cummings attended all of the SAGE meetings, he can't claim he wasn't aware of the risks.

Helmetbymidnight · 23/05/2020 07:44

it is appalling but like boris, he is a brexiteer and for many people in this country thats more important than anything.

Sillysop92 · 23/05/2020 07:48

Makes me think why do I bother following the guidelines when one of the architects of the guidelines flouts them. If they were well enough to travel then they were well enough to look after one child between them. Cummings, please be goings.

Tanith · 23/05/2020 07:50

” He certainly doesn't deserve the level of hatred on this thread.”

Oh yes he does!! Angry

TheFairyCaravan · 23/05/2020 07:51

I can't get my head around people not caring about this. He and his wife were both infectious with an incredibly contagious, deadly virus when they travelled almost 300 miles. They would have had to have stopped for the toilet because they had a 4 yo with them.

Boris needs to make sure that Cummings either resigns or he sacks him. There's no way he can stay on after this. They've been sticking two fingers up at the rest of us for far too long, but this is the straw that breaks the camel's back imo.

I shall continue to follow the guidelines for my son who is a nurse, and his colleagues . He's seen some awful things these past weeks. I want them to be protected not those fuckers at the top.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 23/05/2020 07:52

I don't think that it's Brexit necessarily which is making or has made people support BJ above all else. I think a lot of his support came from the fact that there was no credible opposition. It's early days for KS - if he ditches the whole tw are women mantra, he might re gather the lost labour and lib dem voters.

wherestheotherone · 23/05/2020 07:55

1 child! We were ill to the point of bed bound for 5 days around the same time. Our children were also ill and it was the hardest time but we never left the house or got help.

I've been working full-time with two young kids at home. Trying to home school. I'm a keyworker but as I've been physically in the house the children have stayed with me. As instructed. I've been nowhere for weeks and not exposed but we've not visited our parents despite how increasingly this is mentally affecting us all.

He needs to be sacked and lockdown rules need to change now for one household to see another household.

Balls to them all. We've bust a gut over the last 10 weeks, as have many but this is the final straw.

vera99 · 23/05/2020 08:04

Please don't forget the government advice ;

DO WHAT YOU WANT
IT DOESN'T MATTER
NO-ONE'S IN CHARGE

bibbitybobbitycats · 23/05/2020 08:10

Oh yes, I would be so PROUD if my grown child flouted the rules on quarantine and put other people at risk just so he could come home to have his lemsip served up by mummy.

If he was well enough to drive, he wasn't even that ill.

The lies he and his wife have told to the media about their experience of the virus are the icing on the cake. They are a pair of grade A scumbags. He needs to be fired, but I bet he won't be.

cinammonbuns · 23/05/2020 08:10

Do people not care about how utterly hypocritical this is. One rule for them because they are important and part of the government and then one rule for the rest of us.

bibbitybobbitycats · 23/05/2020 08:12

I can't get my head around people not caring about this. He and his wife were both infectious with an incredibly contagious, deadly virus when they travelled almost 300 miles. They would have had to have stopped for the toilet because they had a 4 yo with them.

I think the people who say they don't care are desperate Tories who are in denial about the abosulte clusterfuck of a government they voted in.

bibbitybobbitycats · 23/05/2020 08:13

absolute

Kit19 · 23/05/2020 08:15

The government fed Ferguson to the wolves for breaking lockdown and he didn’t have symptoms

If it applied to him, it applies to Cummings. They won’t of course. It was fine to throw Ferguson under a bus because they needed a distraction from the rising death toll

Cummings won’t resign or be sacked, Johnson needs him to much
