When you bring it home?

I have been doing this but I forgot last night after getting something at local tesco, now I'm terrified I've brought the virus home

@PinkSparklyPussyCat You said: "The only concession I've made is I didn't eat pizza straight from the box

That just made me wonder whether you disinfected it before you put it on a plate. If not, why not?

PissOffStayAtHomeDogMum · 21/05/2020 20:12

Surely washing your hands is something you'd do anyway, not just because of coronavirus?

^^ but agree with this, a thousand times over.

pourmeanotherglass · 21/05/2020 20:12

No never have. Risk is very small in our area ( SW).

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 21/05/2020 20:14

We haven't been wiping it down and I am shielding. DH puts it all away and washes his hands afterwards.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 21/05/2020 20:15

WTF? Why would I disinfect a pizza? I decided not to eat it from the box as I normally would, it doesn't mean I want to disinfect the bloody thing.

janeyloves · 21/05/2020 20:15

Nope. No one shielding in our house and it's a road I won't go down...

fluffiphlox · 21/05/2020 20:18

No. Never. We put ourselves into a sort of lockdown a week before the government said we should. Obviously we’ve had a LOT of shopping and deliveries since then. I wash my hands but not the goods. There is an awful lot of paranoia, melodrama and over-reaction on this site and it seems to be getting worse.

alphabetspagetti · 21/05/2020 20:18

Never have done. Nor do we quarantine post in the porch etc. I wipe down the doorbell as and when I remember.
I do wash my hands whenever I come in from being out and try not to touch my face etc when out.
In retrospect, DH possibly had Coronavirus a week before lockdown (lethargic; loss of smell) and DS was a bit under the weather around the same time. DD and I have been fine throughout.

mencken · 21/05/2020 20:20

I have been doing this but in the hope that it was OTT, and it does look like it is which is good news. As noted there (happily) does not seem to have been extra cases in supermarket workers.

I also really hope that we don't get a massive spike in 2 weeks from all the crowded places today. That one I'm not so sure about, sadly.

draughtycatflap · 21/05/2020 20:20

I wear my bee keeping outfit and put pizza slices through a laminating machine before I eat them.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 21/05/2020 20:23

I've never wiped anything down and don't quarantine packages.

I do try to socially distance when out walking and am mindful of things I touch when out and use hand sanitizer but thats it. I only do that because I'm a nurse and don't want to inadvertently take the virus to work with me.

AnxiousAnnie13 · 21/05/2020 20:33

Nope. Ebola would need to be widely circulating before I'd start washing down shopping.

Bluntness100 · 21/05/2020 20:39

I think the pizza to not be eaten out the box has thrown everyone..🤣

Ilovecats14 · 21/05/2020 20:48

I've never done it either. I'm too lazy 🙈

Catlover10 · 21/05/2020 20:53

I do at the moment due to being 36 weeks pregnant so trying to be extra careful. Not sure I could carry on doing it forever though, it is so time consuming and tiring because I order large orders in at a time.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 21/05/2020 20:53

Alright alright! We chucked out the box as we thought maybe we should - I wouldn't eat an Indian or Chinese out of the packaging Covid or no Covid so why would a pizza be any different? It wasn't right though so I doubt we'll do it again!

That was my one and only concession to MN hysteria, I haven't quarantined, wiped or disinfected anything more than normal so hopefully I can be saved!

PissOffStayAtHomeDogMum · 21/05/2020 20:58

😂 @PinkSparklyPussyCat

I can only think you have been infected with a dose of MN Batshittery.

Makes me think, though, that there are probably people who go to the bother of finding plates for their M&S ready meals, rather than eating them straight from the container to save on washing up.

PissOffStayAtHomeDogMum · 21/05/2020 20:59

@mencken what crowded places, btw? My (tourist) town is still like a sodding ghost town.

IckleWicklePumperNickle · 21/05/2020 21:01

Never have, never will.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 21/05/2020 21:03

Don't worry @PissOffStayAtHomeDogMum, thankfully it was a mild case and I made a full recovery! 🤣

Woeismethischristmas · 21/05/2020 21:05

I don't wipe down my shopping but I did come down with a cold last week. I live in the middle of nowhere and haven't left home in the last month the only person up the drive is Tesco so I assume t came with the shopping. Still didn't wipe the most recent delivery as I'm too lazy tbh

neeting · 21/05/2020 21:06

Why do you need to wash your hands after putting the shopping away if there's no risk?

whatnametopick · 21/05/2020 21:07

I'm shielded and have never washed shopping, just hands after touching it. Also ate a dominoes pizza from the box but plate up other takeaways, I must have more faith in domino's Grin

ItWasntMyFault · 21/05/2020 21:08

No, never have.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 21/05/2020 21:12

I've actually got more faith in the local Indian than Dominos! The thought of eating anything out of one of those foil containers puts my teeth on edge though!
