is it going to be horrendous again at the beauty spots?

OP posts:
Ilovecats14 · 22/05/2020 23:12

I booked time off so I can actually home school my son.

Chickoletta · 22/05/2020 23:15

I know that it won’t be much different for lots of people but after half a term of teaching a full timetable of lessons remotely whilst home-schooling a 6 and 9 yr old, I am fucking overjoyed that it’s half term!

We are in Cornwall and will go to tucked away, quiet beaches, walk in the woods, BBQ, spend time with our animals (horses, hens etc), sleep and generally not spend 10 hrs a day looking at a screen. Hooray!

Chillipeanuts · 22/05/2020 23:18

Staying home.
Am I the only one thinking that as there’s a once in a century pandemic, maybe we could all be patient for a bit longer than 8 weeks?

(Ok, I’ll get my coat: and wear it in the garden 😬)

savehalloween · 22/05/2020 23:28

Another in wales here. Can’t even drive 5-10 minutes to different woods!

You really can ...

Time2change2 · 22/05/2020 23:32

I will be going out most days. Beach, park, woods, picnics.

Adamandtheaunts · 22/05/2020 23:35

The same thing we do every day pinky

DrMadelineMaxwell · 23/05/2020 00:06

You really shouldn't drive just to walk in a different wood if you have one closer.

From Welsh Gov 'Leaving home to exercise guidance' updated 11th May

  • going out to exercise is a valid reason to leave home and is encouraged;
  • exercise can be combined with other – incidental – activity that is beneficial to people’s health and well-being;
  • exercise should be local, involve minimal risk and be done in accordance with advice on social distancing;
  • travelling by vehicle to exercise should be avoided unless there is a good reason for doing so.

Having to drive, even for 5 minutes, doesn't really make it local.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 23/05/2020 00:07

Our hub school is open next week for every day except Monday, and it is only now closed on that day as there was very little demand for that day. I'm on the rota for going in on one of the days 8-5.30.

Chillipeanuts · 23/05/2020 10:20

Is it half-term?
Completely lost track of time here.

Erm no, not the only one @Chillipeanuts

Pretty much everybody on the thread has described pandemic friendly activities mainly stuff at home and going for walks, what makes you think you're the only one?

Chillipeanuts · 23/05/2020 23:56

Sorry, my post was obscure 😊.

I wasn’t referring to posters on this thread, I was referring to the reports of crowded beaches and beauty spots but looking at it again that’s not at all clear. I just put it badly.

ChocolateCheesecake20 · 24/05/2020 00:05

Mainly staying home. We have a large woodland nearby and it's easy to find a spot with no other people at all so possibly that with picnic and a ball.

We also have a sports field 5 min walk which although a fair few people go there's easily 20m between people. If there's not we won't stop.

Then the garden and possibly a relatives garden. The relative will not be home , we have a key to side gate and outdoor toilet if needed ( this is cleaned by relative before they go to work and I'd clean after) but the relative has a 24ft pool and trampoline for kids to use . It's walking distance.

Oh and finishing touches of decorating

happyandsingle · 24/05/2020 00:21

Might go to tesco instead of asda for a bit of excitement.

JustStayHome · 24/05/2020 00:22

Stay at home....

Like you suppose to be doing!!!

Macaroni46 · 24/05/2020 00:35

Going into school to set up and prepare for reopening on 1 June. So not really a half term.

TheHarryFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 24/05/2020 08:43

We really can’t savehalloween. Much as I think it’s a ridiculous rule and no risk whatsoever, Welsh lockdown rules are that exercise starts from home.

It’s also being heavily policed, in my area at least. If the police didn’t send you home, the neighbours would be out with pitchforks.

drayco · 24/05/2020 08:52

I'm not even telling DS it's half-term. Business as usual here. Me and Dah wfh, DS interrupting every five minutes.

TimeForLunch · 24/05/2020 08:58

I've discovered our local crazy golf course is open so am planning on taking the kids there for a change. You book a slot and members of the same household can play together.

Littlemiss74 · 24/05/2020 16:25

Following for ideas

lazylinguist · 24/05/2020 16:34

We are planning a walk (and maybe a swim)and a picnic at a lake. We live on the edge of the Lake District, so we won't be driving far at all, and if it looks at all busy we'll go and find a lake that's not busy (or failing that, give up and go home)!

We also have a canoe moored at an activity base, which has apparently now re-opened, so we might go canoeing one day. They've said you have to phone and book though, so they can make sure only a few people go at once.

Other than that, the usual walks, films, board games and lounging about!

VeganVeal · 24/05/2020 17:01

Nice bbq on the beach with a few friends and their kids

vengeancer · 24/05/2020 18:20

working. and trying to squirrel away with home schooling given that I managed to woefully little besides WFH...

soundsystem · 24/05/2020 18:23

We've got big plans to eat ice cream in the garden, so it feels more holiday-ish.

That's about it!

Other than that, not too different from every other day lately!

bellinisurge · 24/05/2020 18:29

We were going to Crete. Our plans involve not going to Crete and trying to pretend that's ok.

Dahlietta · 24/05/2020 22:50

Not helping DS1 with his remote schooling. Whoop whoop! Grin
