is it going to be horrendous again at the beauty spots?

No change here except ds is 4 on bhmonday so we'll have cake and a takeaway. Dh is off on Monday but working as usual the rest of the week. Normal equals playing in the garden most of the day and a walk/bike around the block or in the park 4 or 5 times a week. I'm wfh with our 2ds 1and 4 dh still at work.

usernotfound0000 · 21/05/2020 13:30

We are both on annual leave so will be nice to not have the juggle of work, childcare, home school. We will try and get out but only to local places, we have quite a few spots of large open areas within relatively short drives. Sadly too far from a beach.

CMOTDibbler · 21/05/2020 13:31

DH and I will be working. DS will get to do his schoolwork on a slightly reduced hours basis (we did this at Easter) as otherwise its a very long day to fill. Walk/run/cycle when possible. BH Monday we'll go for a cycle, then a walk.

Fluffyglitterystuff · 21/05/2020 13:38

We won't be doing anything special.

Might drive to other places locally for walks. Do some more gardening, watch films, bike rides.

The only difference is that I won't be working, got plenty to be getting on with at home. Yes it's all a bit shit but driving to some beach far away isn't going to help me!

We won't be driving off anywhere far. I'm keeping everything crossed for a late August camping trip but not getting my hopes up.

Iamblossom · 21/05/2020 13:40

We were supposed to be going to Cyprus 😢

Have instead split the holiday to 2 days off this week (today and tomorrow, currently sunbathing) and next Thursday and Friday, gives me two long weekends.

I don't find filling the days an issue , garden, dog walks, tv, reading, running - but fuck me the evenings are dull. I WANNA GO TO THE PUB FOR A DRINK WITH DH OR MY FRIENDS

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 21/05/2020 13:41

Plans! LOL!

At least I can stop trying to teach my 5yo anything, seeing as its half term then she's hopefully back in school.

BrieAndChilli · 21/05/2020 13:47

Another in wales here. Can’t even drive 5-10 minutes to different woods!
We are literally right on the border. If I go to Tesco another 30seconds and use are in England. It’s tempting to think just go into England and go somewhere but that would be hypocritical seeing as we aren’t allowing English into wales to exercise!! (Although police are finding loads of people in wales. Some people from Birmingham the other day up in Brecon!!)

unchienandalusia · 21/05/2020 14:20

We have a pool and weather supposed to be nice. DH has taken the week off his very intense work and the DCs have had full online timetables for the term so are exhausted. We're going to chill the fuck out. But I very much appreciate that we are the lucky ones.

We were thinking of the beach for a late afternoon swim. We're only 30 mins away. But if it looks like it be I'll be rammed we might as well
Stay here.

unchienandalusia · 21/05/2020 14:21

It. Not I. I hope I am not rammed either 🤣

bigchris · 21/05/2020 14:25

We're both working so the teenagers will be amusing them selves indoors for the tenth week in a row

Please open up secondary schools in July!

The80sweregreat · 21/05/2020 14:29

Might do some housework. Cook dinner .
Queue up at the shops. Pop out for a walk and hope I don't get mown down by bike riding teenagers! Just another week in lockdown here! 😂

bumblingbovine49 · 21/05/2020 14:29

What is half term any different to normal at the moment?. I usually work at half term, though I might have a couple of half days off . Yes DS would be off school but he is off school anyway. We won't be doing anything different. In fact I'd forgotten about half term completely!

GreyishDays · 21/05/2020 14:32

School holidays are a bit easier for us, bumbling as it’s hard work getting mine to do work!
That said we don’t have half term.

bumblingbovine49 · 21/05/2020 14:32

Oh I have realised that some poeple are getting their children to do school work so it might be a bit different for them. DS (15) has not done a stroke of school work since January so it is has been groundhog day for him for 5 months! - but that is a different story ...

Lovelivingbythebeach3 · 21/05/2020 14:34

Our school is open for key worker’s children Tuesday-Thursday.

Ugzbugz · 21/05/2020 14:39

Being chained to my laptop 8 hours a day doing corporate bullshit! Just going for local walks when I can get out!

beachgoer · 21/05/2020 14:42

going to the beach AGAIN.

Unlike some of the awful FALSE reporting being put out there, not all beaches are shit infested squashed like sardines! There are places with all facilities open and plenty of space for all.

The camera angles used and a nice bit of photoshop.....= fearmongering which is used to manipulate the truth somewhat.

BlackeyedSusan · 21/05/2020 14:42

Same as usual.

greenlynx · 21/05/2020 14:42

DD has additional needs and struggles with the amount of homework so we spread it over weekends and holidays. She has some cookery homework so will actually enjoy doing it. I also have 2 crafts sets for her to do. Otherwise we will continue as before, we are not changing anything yet.

stuckindoors77 · 21/05/2020 14:44

Picnic one day, in a local park but away from the crowds.

Meet up with my sister for a walk one day.

End of the drive/garden meet up with my mum and dad.

Maybe a garden centre if things calm down a bit.

Art and craft, paddling pool, treasure hunts, baking, walks in the woods, movie nights.

Sounds nice written down but I'm sighing inwardly about the hours to fill.

Wejustdontknow · 21/05/2020 14:53

We were supposed to be away for the week at a uk coastal town as it’s ds’s birthday. Dp has agreed to cancel 3 days holiday and just take 2 to make it a longer weekend, I have the whole week off 🙂
We are trying to think of somewhere to go for a nice long walk that’s not touristy as I imagine a lot of places will be very busy

ProseccoBubbleFantasies · 22/05/2020 08:27

@CrowdedHouseinQuarantine

Both my primaries are closed and teachers have been told not to set work or respond to messages.
But they are prepping for june 1st and report writing

happypotamus · 22/05/2020 08:37

I don't know what we will do, probably argue with DC about turning off screens and going outside, but I am on annual leave from my job (it's the kind of job that I have had to leave my house and go to throughout lockdown) and won't have to teach my children either. DH is also off work, so maybe we could go for a walk somewhere that isn't our local park (I can't drive so we haven't yet), but everyone might have the same idea and it would be too crowded.

Our school is still open for keyworker children although it wasn't at Easter, staff volunteered to work.

MrsPear · 22/05/2020 08:44

After reading that you need to catch the virus in order to have a life again I’m thinking the West Country.

middleager · 22/05/2020 08:48

Our schools are open to kw children.

Half term will be a big deal here. We've been working our arses off at home and my y9s are exhausted. Their school timetable is pretty full on. We cannot wait just to get off the wheel for a week and enjoy the sun.

We will take a picnic to the park, use the local outdoor tennis court which has reopened, treat the kids to a drive through KFC, play board games & watch films and go to the tip (woohoo).
