New thread,

I won't be a very good host as I tend to dip in and out of these things but have filled up the last thread. (Sorry)

Oh @baroqueandblue you poor thing! That's all you bloody need right now! Glad you're on the up though, such great news!

Love that we're all cheering each other along each horrible step of this horrible mountain we never wanted to climb. Thanks

Mittens030869 · 19/05/2020 14:32

@SimpleKindofLife I don't know. Some people apparently get the result within hours, I've heard, others have had delays. We'll see. It's nearly 3 months now, so I really don't see how it could be positive, unless I caught it, recovered and then caught it again.

I'll update you all when I get the result.

godhelpusall · 19/05/2020 14:51

@Whatnext2018 sounds exactly like mine. It really does feel like anxiety at times but definitely the virus!!

SimpleKindofLife · 19/05/2020 14:51

Baited breath @Mittens030869!

Can you imagine the stress of waiting when the antibody tests come out?? Confused If the Roche tests come up for sale before I'm eligible for one, I'll be so tempted to buy one...

Mittens030869 · 19/05/2020 14:58

I really want those antibody tests to be available before my DDs go back to school. I know that DD2 (8) had it but it's DD1 (11) who is due to go back first and she hasn't! Although she might have had it asymptomatically, which would take a load off my mind.

But it's because I'm concerned about my DH, who has asthma, rather than about me, as I must surely have had it (although the antibody test would provide certainty.

LetsBeSensible · 19/05/2020 15:01

I think it was fedupofbed. Who posted this earlier from the slack groups.
IT IS AMAZING! YOU HAVE TO READ IT
-all the world media coverage of people who were ill 40+ days
-their own survey data report- with key symptoms
www.c19recoveryawareness.com/

Fishflakes · 19/05/2020 15:14

The test only seems to be sensitive (during the first week or less), to novel symptoms. So a lot of asymptomatic or lightly or middling-affected people have been at home with no testing accessible since the outbreak began so won’t register in the stats. The long term affected people won’t register positive with testing at this stage either even though they have ongoing symptoms. So when I see the stats on negative results I always look a bit Hmm it’s really great that they are making testing more available though.

SimpleKindofLife · 19/05/2020 15:39

@Mittens030869 same, I desperately want the antibody tests for all of us before the dc go back in September. We need to know.

@Fishflakes yep, we won't know the true figures until they antibody test everyone. The number of previous cases will probably double at least!

Lightsabre · 19/05/2020 15:40

Day 51 here - Groundhog Day again. Had a better, more energetic day yesterday but vice like chest/upper back pain here again today and breathing is shallower. I'm so worried that I'm going to be permanently disabled by this and have to give up work. I am stronger but don't feel significantly stronger ie; I can potter but can't clean, shop, talk for any length of time etc. Trying to hold on to I'm early 50's, overweight so it will take longer. Just feeling despondent today.

mumlurker · 19/05/2020 15:44

I'm in week ten now. Had a huge dip after feeling almost normal for five days during week six. Weeks seven and especially eight were hell, I was legitimately convinced I was dying. Things have picked up a bit since a few days into week nine but I don't feel like I'm really advancing beyond that. Today has been a bit of a mini dip, feel washed out, short of breath, and fatigued beyond belief. Numbness in hands has also returned. Holding on to the idea that if I am still ill at three full months I might be able to push for some sort of help or checkup.

SANDY2016 · 19/05/2020 15:59

Lightsabre I'm in same position I 40if you'd like to chat pm me or anyone in same kinda situation,I was in ICU with covid 2weeks has left me a mess and no follow up

Egghead68 · 19/05/2020 16:26

Great link - thanks @LetsBeSensible and @fedupofbed.

Whatnext2018 · 19/05/2020 16:47

So others have had no recorded temperature or cough? I find the sort of shaking inside and around my head/face and dizziness the scariest, plus the fast heartbeat. I didn’t have this shakiness until last week and it’s worse than I felt with earlier but symptoms, so does this illness get worse then even after this long? Will it then go better?
Sounds strange, but does anyone feel sort of scared at the worst parts? I just hug up to my baby girl and wait until it passes, never known anything like it before.
Others have had the sore/aching legs and neck/back too?

godhelpusall · 19/05/2020 16:52

Yes @Whatnext2018 I have all that. Although I'm convinced some of it is anxiety because I'm obsessing and stressing so much so I'm trying to relax. But the symptoms have been a lot like aspects of anxiety all the way, even though I know it's the virus/ effects of...

Whatnext2018 · 19/05/2020 16:59

@godhelpusall Thanks so much for the feedback, I’ve been working myself up so much this weekend thinking it was MS or a brain tumour or god knows what, the feeling is just so strange.
How long have you had it? Is it still able to progress to the chest/cough after so long and do you know if anything shows up in blood test results? Sorry for all the questions!

godhelpusall · 19/05/2020 17:15

I have had two lots of blood tests over the last five weeks (I'm in my ninth week!) - fbc showed nothing. I spoke to a dr yesterday who was sure it was too late for hospital admissions (I'm choosing to believe him!) and it's a case of time rest etc. His take was that the immune system is hypersensitised and reacting to anything it recognises as the virus (proteins etc).

Khaleesimother · 19/05/2020 17:18

Hi all 💐. Day 59ish here. Still weak, aching all over and arthiritis like pains. Headaches. Chest tight painful and tender when touch ribs (wondering if costochondritis) and still suffering with SOB (Prescribed Ventolin inhaler). Was able to do a home test that came back negative but the good thing was once I advised the GP of this I was then allowed to attend surgery for blood tests, and sent to lung health for Xray. Bloods showed up ferretin level 38 on a scale of 11-307 so not anaemic but advised to take iron. Xray came back satisfactory. More bloods taken today for inflammation. GP said they are learning some people are taking up to 12 weeks before feeling better.

Porcupineinwaiting · 19/05/2020 17:24

I dont want to offer false hope to anyone but I did want to say that I started feeling significantly better around week 8/day 60+. Before that I was improving but it was painfully slow.

I still have symptoms and am definitely convalescent - and I'm sure I will dip again when I next have a period- but the improvement has been tangible.

godhelpusall · 19/05/2020 17:30

I'm suddenly feeling really shivery again. Mind you I started my period today. Maybe a period dip?

godhelpusall · 19/05/2020 17:35

I've also got really weak muscles and burning across my back

Porcupineinwaiting · 19/05/2020 17:37

I dont know about you @godhelpusall but any virus/infection I've got always really ramps up at the start of my period. Coronavirus is sadly not exception.

godhelpusall · 19/05/2020 17:47

Well I definitely feel worse today than previously.

fedupofbed · 19/05/2020 17:49

@Whatnext2018 and @godhelpusall your symptoms sound sort of similar to mine too. I'm not shaky as such, more jittery. It basically feels like a heightened sense of agitation, as if I'm in a permanent state of fight or flight mode if that makes sense? It's at its worse when I wake up, but can appear throughout the day and sometimes lasts for hours. It's very hard to deal with. I do abdominal breathing, watch mindless television, but also find I'm constantly doing random activities to cope with it - putting vicks on, applying body cream, eating cough sweets, polos, etc - anything to distract myself.

At week 11 my newish symptoms are all head related! Headache, sore eyes, feeling that all my facial muscles are drooping.

I also still get a 'burning' sensation intermittently through my body (head to bladder but mostly focused on abdomen and chest). I'm still frequently short of breath. I have brain fog, insomnia and exhausted for much of the day. I'm managing an hour or so each day sitting in the garden now though, which is an improvement.

What your doctor said @godhelpusall is a little similar to what the chiropractor I just spoke with said. Basically this virus has made a godawful mess of our bodies and everything is in overdrive. What was most interesting though is that after I spoke with her I felt a bit better, so for me anyway there really is a link between how I feel and my physical symptoms. I'm really working on this. She is going to see me in person next week too (in full PPE gear!). I'm not expecting miracles but it's another tool in helping my body fight this.

godhelpusall · 19/05/2020 17:53

Yes @fedupofbed - mine is awful first thing. I feel nauseous from the anxiety when I wake up. I agreee- I felt better after speaking to my doc yesterday.

fedupofbed · 19/05/2020 18:28

@godhelpusall yes it is awful and sorry that you're going through the exact same symptom but as ever it's such a relief to know that I'm not the only one and not going completely bonkers.
