New thread,

I won't be a very good host as I tend to dip in and out of these things but have filled up the last thread. (Sorry)

Morning all!

Oh no, @Moominmamma33! Hoping you improve throughout the day.

Fab news @Egghead68!

I had a good night! I slept on my side and turned over in bed several times without constant repositioning pillow dramas.

My chest is bubbling and pulsing this morning. Usual burning pain in chest and upper back as well but it's not too bad. I haven't taken painkillers yet.

No SOB and no racing heart.

Week 7/8.

I'm going for a COVID-19 test, finally. I very much doubt that I'll test positive, after so long, but it will help to have a negative test, as it will mean that I will be able to finally put aside the concern about being infectious. I've been having symptoms the whole time so the concern has been there.

Hopefully the antibody test will be available eventually.

Mittens030869 · 19/05/2020 09:41

@Moominmamma33 Sorry you're feeling so ill this morning, hope it improves during the day. Thanks

Linus1972 · 19/05/2020 09:52

@hollieberrie I haven't had any side effects that I can tell from the ramipril (although it would be hard to tell as so much else is going on!)

Day 59 for me today. No notable symptoms so far except for minor chest pain. Managing about 5000 steps a day at the moment. I haven't had a headache for over a week which has been great and the tinnitus has died down to the point where I'm not noticing it. I had awful gas/bloating yesterday so hoping it will not trouble me today. I had some quite chewy melon the night before and I'm blaming that as the same thing happened the last time I had it. In my more optimistic pain-free moments I tell myself this is just residual inflammation and it will gradually go away. In the darkest moments I convince myself I am stuck with a lifetime of medication and pain.

Weighed myself for the first time in 3 months and I've lost half a stone (ironically DH has put on half a stone). I'm attributing this to 2 months of gastric issues, having to change my diet to cut out most fatty food and only being able to manage smaller portions.

Dorual · 19/05/2020 09:57

@Mamabem and @Moominmamma33

What are your temps? It is normal to fluctuate in the day. Temp naturally goes down at night. Also it can go up and down based on humidity, room temperature, amount of activity you're doing or stress.

Example: my 6 year old son gets very anxious to win at racing on the xbox. His temp goes up to 38 as he's got adrenaline pumping. I noticed this because he felt hot so I checked his temp. Half an hour later his temp was 37. I tested this theory by che king a couple more times over the week. Always raised when playing xbox.

Moominmamma33 · 19/05/2020 10:08

Thanks all. Wish I could rest properly, but will be chasing after the kids all day again. @Egghead68 glad you're feeling ok. @Mittens030869 good luck for your test. I'm wondering about doing the same maybe, at least I could tell my Dr I don't need to isolate again! I remembered something else from the Sky News interview yesterday. Paul Garner said in response to a question about how he knew it was Covid, that the symptoms are so unique that it has to be and there's no other disease it could possibly be. Useful rebuttal maybe for anyone who has to deal with doubting friends and relatives.

KatySun · 19/05/2020 10:11

Just checking in - day 60 now I think from cough starting... symptoms wax and wane. I have still got a cough, sore chest which changes in intensity and area of pain, on and off tiredness and muscle aches and the last two days I have woken up with a migraine.
I was told last time I spoke to a doctor that I should consider myself infectious until the cough had gone...
I am in Scotland and as far as I can see, testing is only being rolled out for those who have within five days of new symptoms - at least that is what it said when I checked last night.
On balance, I have definitely improved since my week five dip but I feel like that improvement has plateaued and I will be stuck at this situation now - sometimes I am more hopeful and think it will go eventually. But quite frankly, no medical professional knows 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Mittens030869 · 19/05/2020 10:11

My temp tends to go up every afternoon or evening when I haven't been doped up with paracetamol. It goes up to 37.5 up to 37.9. (It was 38 and above during the first 2 weeks of this.)

My normal temp never reaches 37, it fluctuates between 36.5 and 36.9 mostly. I never used to have raised temperatures when ill with a virus.

godhelpusall · 19/05/2020 10:13

@Moominmamma33 was the Paul garner interview reasonably optimistic? Did he think it likely that people could get really bad at this stage?

Moominmamma33 · 19/05/2020 10:13

@Dorual mine definitely fluctuates too. 37.8 mostly, generally been 37.7 or over since this started, it's been 38 a few times in last few days and was first thing, felt all flushed and horrible. Often I feel ok when I first wake and temp might be 37.5ish. It's always higher in the afternoons. I've noticed this with the toddlers too as if they're poorly they only start to get fevers in the afternoon and evenings.

Moominmamma33 · 19/05/2020 10:16

@godhelpusall I think it was optimistic. I can't remember if he said anything about if people might deteriorate badly, but they definitely both said that they're very optimistic that they will get better from it at some point, the lady said she thinks it'll be 3-4 months for her. Paul Garner seemed very tired and said he's not doing very much, the lady said she has a lot of Tramadol in her system to cope with the pain. I was personally relieved to hear that someone else has kidney pain as part of this. It really hurts at times and was worrying me slightly.

Haenow · 19/05/2020 11:10

I’m also still having temperatures 2 months down the line. I’m sitting consistently around 37.8 to 38.2 even with paracetamol. I was closer to 40 during the initial couple of weeks of illness.

fedupofbed · 19/05/2020 11:11

Morning all. I just found this website over on Slack so thought I would share. It pulls together media articles and support groups for people in our situation.

www.c19recoveryawareness.com/

fedupofbed · 19/05/2020 11:20

Yes I still have a mild raised temperature too at 11 weeks in. Like @Haenow when I was really ill in the first few weeks it was 40+. It then completely burned out for a few days. After that it was consistently up to 37.8 for weeks and weeks. It's now marginally less but still there!

LetsBeSensible · 19/05/2020 11:46

Day 63 well here I am, going into week 9
@Moominmamma33 thanks for relaying what Paul Garner said in the interview anyway. I shall take comfort from a professor of infectious diseases also being asked how he “knew” it was Covid Hmm
@fedupofbed thanks for the slack group link I will take a look.
I was alright yesterday then I got a cracking headache.
Re Kidney pain- I did have real kidney pains around week 4-5 but they settled. Was a worry as my kidneys are low-level trouble at the best of times for infections and stones.

alittleprivacy · 19/05/2020 12:27

I'm officially into my 3rd month here as I started having symptoms on March 18th. But so far my recovery is continuing apace. I know at a minimum I'll be at least a month before being fully recovered but I have 2 victories to report.

  1. For about a week now it takes me a few minutes every morning to remember to assess how I'm feeling because my breathing is close to normal and my chest/lung pain lessened, so it's not immediately obvious to me on waking. So when I wake up I take a while thinking about my dream or working out what day it is or whatever before I remember I'm sick. That's a big, big step up from waking up with my lungs on fire or not able to catch my breath!
  1. I have worn a bra every day since the weekend and am now officially more comfortable in a bra than out of one!!!!! It's an old bra from before breastfeeding when my breasts were bigger. I've removed the underwire and the cups have kind of reshaped into a very forgiving form of support (which also gives me a surprisingly nice shape). I do tend to hit a point at night where I suddenly need to take it off. But that point is getting later and later most days.

I still have issues. I know when it's been too long since I've had ibuprofen as I get the stabbing pain in my right lung on a deep breath and the dull ache in my sternum intensifies. I have a sore throat/mouth ulcers quite a lot. I can't put any pressure on my chest or I immediately need at least a day of rest. But more and more walking and occasional jogs across the road, bursts of dancing in the kitchen, don't set me back. My heart rate is appearing more and more normal, except it elevates for a short brisk walk like it previously would have for seriously high intensity cardio. But I guess that's normal for someone who has spent the bulk of the last two months in bed. I'm getting more lower back pain when walking but I think that's an old back injury starting to bother me again now that my core muscles have atrophied. Despite all that I really do feel like I'm on the path to recovery. So much so that I just decided to treat myself to some expensive sports equipment that I've coveted for a while but couldn't find second hand. I know I won't be able to use it when it arrives but I know I will be before the summer is out and it will be nice to have it ready and waiting for me!!!

Silvergoldsilver · 19/05/2020 12:48

@alittleprivacy That is amazing news, thank you so much for sharing your recovery. My symptoms started on 23rd March so I’m hoping I’m not too far behind you!

SimpleKindofLife · 19/05/2020 12:48

Great news @alittleprivacy I feel that I'm on that path just behind you.

Wearing a bra! Oh wow, that feels a way off still. But I can't wait! I have quite big boobs and I hate not wearing a bra. It's uncomfortable and looks horrible (especially after 2 dc!) It's not doable yet but I hope soon. I might have a look for some non wired ones...

I can't wait to have a glass of wine - that's when I'll know I'm better! I'm still too scared - and too full of painkillers!

@Mittens030869 Let us know how your test goes. I'm still debating...

@Linus1972 I'm sure it's temporary residual inflammation, a lot of us seem to have it and it is easing. It might be another month or two before it goes completely but I truly believe we'll all get better. Glad you're on the up.

I also weighed myself too! I've lost 9lbs! I've been on my arse for the best part of 7 weeks, so that's quite an accomplishment! I'm very untoned and wobbly though!

My dc have played so nicely throughout this whole lockdown (age 7 and 5) and been so kind to me but they're being little monkeys today and the dog, rather than cuddling up to me with concerned eyes, is badgering me to play with him! Do they sense I'm feeling better maybe?! Smile🤞

JaggedHedge · 19/05/2020 13:01

Hello all
I'm officially 9 weeks today.

Just checking in to say I called GP this morning due to return of wheezy / SOB symptoms and I'm collecting inhalers from pharmacy this afternoon.

GP said if you are an allergic sort of person (Currently have hayfever and have other autoimmune crap) and have had Covid, then you may well need an inhaler for a bit.

I've never had inhalers / asthma symptoms before so i thought this might be useful info for others.

On good days I can do steady walks of around 2 miles and tried a yoga session last week which was fine. Still keeping an eye on heart rate.

Will report back on whether inhalers help!

alittleprivacy · 19/05/2020 13:16

I also weighed myself too! I've lost 9lbs! I've been on my arse for the best part of 7 weeks, so that's quite an accomplishment! I'm very untoned and wobbly though!

I'm completely envious. I think I'm the only person in the whole bloody world who has gained weight with a covid infection. And I've not just gained weight but visibly lost loads of muscle, so I've gained more fat than the scales show. I can wear jeans now but my size 6 jeans that were too big instead of my size 4 that were my norm at the start of the year. (I know that's a world's tiniest violin complaint, if ever there was one.)

Mittens030869 · 19/05/2020 13:22

@SimpleKindofLife I had the test. It felt a bit ridiculous really, as of course it will be negative, but it will remove that niggle of doubt, and mean I won't feel I have to self-isolate from my DH. Because I'm still coughing and producing phlegm, and I need that certainty.

I'm still angry about the fact that my DD2 (8) wasn't tested when we took her into A&E on 6th March with high temperature, chest pain and bad headache, and achy all over, simply because we hadn't been in an infected area overseas'. We should both have been tested long ago.

It's been like I was invisible for weeks, and I get a test when it's certain it will be negative, so I won't ever figure in the statistics of positive results.

Sorry, rant over! Grin

Whatnext2018 · 19/05/2020 14:00

Hi all,
I’ve not posted on this thread before but wanted to see if anyone had had the same symptoms as me as I feel like I’m going mad with illness that comes and goes.
Weeks ago it began with a sore throat on and off, feeling hot, tight chest and diareah.
I’ve never had a cough and my temperature hasn’t been shown to be high. I’d go days feeling completely normal, then it would start again. For the last two weeks I’ve had pains in my legs, mainly calves and mainly at night, tingling in my face, mouth and body and sometimes sore neck and back 🤷‍♀️ I’ve been feeling dizzy and sick since last week so finally went to the doctors. I had blood tests which I’m waiting for, but everything heart wise etc checked out fine. She thinks may be high anxiety. I agree I’m anxious but feel ill too, the very worst is fast palpitations, mainly at night as I’m falling asleep, I also feel tingly in my face and head and quite weepy and scared at times when the palpitations are happening. My appetite is down and I feel sick, it comes in waves and then I’ll be okay again. It’s the strangest thing and I just feel really ‘Odd’
When I Google I get worried but then other times think maybe I just have a sinus infection with bad anxiety. I’ve never felt like this before. Has anyone had similar to this?

Whatnext2018 · 19/05/2020 14:03

I also had very sore eyes on and off for a long time, that seems to have passed now.

baroqueandblue · 19/05/2020 14:16

Just an update from me, think I last posted around the 11th which was the day I started doxycycline again because of relentless upper respiratory tract dysfunction and sore lungs, breathlessness, etc. Took them until Saturday morning, noticed a gradual improvement over the course of the week. But then on Saturday I took another turn for the worse and was in agony with back and ribs. I could barely get up and about, although I made myself. Sunday I felt better than I had the day before, still short of breath at rest and some pain, but overall much brighter. Yesterday I felt even greater improvement and even walked into town to do some grocery shopping. But while walking back to the bus stop I tripped up and went absolutely flying! My sunglasses came off, shopping all over the show, and people looking down at me going "Are you ok?" I was mortified for about two seconds and then laughed and picked myself up, retrieved my shopping and got to the bus stop with all the dignity I could muster! I had twisted as I went down and landed on my back, sort of hit the ground on my left side I suppose, and my first thought was pretty much "Oh my god, this will set me right back pain-wise." Anyway I was ok yesterday - even ran a few yards after my nephew on his bike in the park (we were social distancing though) and had a fairly comfortable evening. This morning my back is killing me again and I'm in bed but I don't feel unwell otherwise, except for fatigue (the kind that makes your face drop) and very minimal and occasional shortness of breath, but not really. I still believe my first symptoms started late Feb and I've had it for just under 3 months (or COVID + post-viral syndrome) and I'm praying that the overall feeling of much improvement in the last 3 days is a significant new normal. Obviously need to really look after my back but sadly that's nothing new, on its own.

Optimistic and will keep updating you as I gauge whether or not this is the real thing or a false dawn. Thinking of all the regular posters still struggling and fearful, as well as the newer members trying to grope their way through Flowers

SimpleKindofLife · 19/05/2020 14:24

It's been like I was invisible for weeks, and I get a test when it's certain it will be negative, so I won't ever figure in the statistics of positive results.

@Mittens030869 that bugs me too! When they bang on about the infection rates, I think what about us?! Grrr! Will be interesting to see the results, how long do you have to wait?

Sounds just like it @Whatnext2018 I think a lot of us just 'know' because it's unlike anything we've had before. Hmmm... anxiety by (some not all) doctors is bandied about when they aren't sure what it is.
