New thread,

I won't be a very good host as I tend to dip in and out of these things but have filled up the last thread. (Sorry)

OP posts:
godhelpusall · 18/05/2020 15:50

I also asked about the kids and he said they don't sound concerning, and I would know if they had it as they get v ill. Again, it would have been earlier than 9 weeks.

godhelpusall · 18/05/2020 15:53

Tbh I'm going to cling to it because I need to be positive

Mamabem · 18/05/2020 15:54

Thank you so much for this thread. I was going OUT OF MY MIND and you've made me feel much less alone. I'm on Day 68 and it's been such a bizarre couple of months.

It all started with dizziness, headache, low grade fever (mid-37s), dry cough and SOB along with crushing exhaustion and mental fuzziness. I was laid up in bed for 9-10 days until my temp fell below 37oC. I wasn't tested.

Within 12 hours of leaving my bed, I got the runniest eyes and nose I've EVER had - assumed I either caught DS's lingering pre-isolation cold or was having really severe hay fever (which I don't usually get). These symptoms were then on and off along with mild SOB and non-mild fatigue for weeks, getting worse whenever I over did it at work/home schooling/house keeping etc etc and not apparently correlating with weather or pollen count.

Two weeks ago, I absolutely crashed. Utter exhaustion, dry cough, really painful chest, much more severe difficulty breathing with a bit of blueness on the face on occasion, confusion, severe body aches, low grade fever again (37 - 37.5, where normal for me is around 35.5-36). I've been in bed since. Sats and HR were ok when I went to see the local "hot team". Had so many odd symptoms! Blistery spots in my hair, swollen glands, oddly painful calf, cant feel my fingertips v well and dulled sense of taste and smell (keep tasting metal and think I can smell burning/muck spreading).

I thought temp was closer to normal over the weekend but it's gone back up again.

Am going out of my mind not being able to work (I have a v busy job and lots of people rely on me though I'm not a key worker) or split homeschooling of 2 DC with DH, who also works full time. I'm desperate to get back to normal....

Healing to you all

Mittens030869 · 18/05/2020 16:01

@Mamabem You sound exactly like me, although I'm at day 96. (Sorry, I know that isn't what you want to hear!) I'm also finding this thread really helpful, as I did feel very alone and helpless, and like I was living in a parallel universe. Thanks

godhelpusall · 18/05/2020 16:02

Poor you @Mamabem . What a nightmare to crash so late. We are very supportive here so know you aren't alone

Blerg · 18/05/2020 16:05

Hi everyone, I haven’t posted much but this thread has been very useful and reassuring. We are on day 65 for me and the kids. I am fine and have been for weeks but the kids and DH have had lingering symptoms. The kids are 4 and 6 and had been ok for a couple of weeks but had mild temperatures, headache, stomachache and ‘spiky’ chest this week. It is totally manageable but decided it was time to get advice. We’ve been told to keep an eye on them and keep up calpol and fluids. It’s such a stressful time even though they are fun. Just always wondering what is next.

Wishing you all speedy recovery 💐

Mamabem · 18/05/2020 16:07

Thank you so so much! So comforting.

So few people out in the world get that it doesn't just wrap up after 2 weeks. If one more person electronically eyes me suspiciously and pointedly asks "...but have you been tested though?" or "Maybe you're just run down because of lockdown" I may totally lose it!

You're all wonderful and hope you have some good news to post soon Flowers

WaktiWapnasi · 18/05/2020 16:10

@godhelpusall That is reassuring to read.

2 months since first symptoms for me. Bastard cough is still there especially after excersise and the gagging has worsened again, after getting better last week.

Fatigue has improved but still there.

New symptoms - Sort of rheumatism/carpal tunnel in right wrist and hand and a rotator cuff injury in my left shoulder has flared up badly along with general joint aches. Palpatations when I lie down and breathlessness if I do too much.

I've been low carbing and adding anti inflammatory foods into my diet, so just hoping they have an effect. I've also got an acupressure mat that I lie on every night... utterly horrendous for the first minute and a half but then it really helps with pain relief and sleep after that so I'm sticking with it.

In a weird way I'm grateful for this as it is forcing me to address my self neglect and put some proper self care practices into place, but boy, I'm sick of being sick.

Egghead68 · 18/05/2020 16:13

@SimpleKindofLife that’s great about your heart.

@godhelpusall I am glad the doctor was reassuring.

@Mamabem what a nightmare. I am with you on the “but have you been tested?” people.

Welcome other new people though I’m sure you don’t want to be here.

Fishflakes · 18/05/2020 16:14

UK will now antigen-test anyone with new symptoms over five, just been announced www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52713127
This is really good that they are widening access but is not helpful for people having recurrent ‘new’ symptoms weeks into it. I think they should make it clearer it’s first time around symptoms, (so not relapsed ‘new’ symptoms), that are in testing range.

SimpleKindofLife · 18/05/2020 16:25

@Fishflakes finally! 🎉

Moodgie · 18/05/2020 16:35

@godhelpusall Thank you, sob is what worries me most.

godhelpusall · 18/05/2020 16:38

@Moodgie he said it's just our immune response being over sensitised. It will calm down eventually

Moodgie · 18/05/2020 16:43

@godhelpusall I am gonna hold on to that. Thank you.

godhelpusall · 18/05/2020 16:43

Me too @Moodgie . I don't even want to query it or check. I'm just clinging to it as a lifeline!

godhelpusall · 18/05/2020 16:56

He did describe us as pioneers!

SimpleKindofLife · 18/05/2020 17:16

@Moodgie I heard the sob can continue because the airways are temporarily damaged and are busy healing. It can be one of the last things to go, which is scary and annoying but normal. It's what makes us cough long after a chest infection goes too as the respiratory system is a bit battered.

He did describe us as pioneers

@godhelpusall bloody love that!

SimpleKindofLife · 18/05/2020 17:17

@Egghead68, I know! It was one of my most worrying symptoms. How's your heart now?

Moodgie · 18/05/2020 17:21

@SimpleKindofLife Thank you. I have thought that, why is is so up and down though?

SimpleKindofLife · 18/05/2020 17:22

Thanks for those links @fedupofbed I love anything that shows the world what we're going through. It still seems to be fairly unknown.

I'd imagine the country will find out soon enough though when a lot of the workforce are on long-term sick after going back after lockdown... Sad

SimpleKindofLife · 18/05/2020 17:38

@Moodgie I don't know. Maybe inflammation? Maybe as it's healing, it's getting a bit inflamed, then settles down again, then repeat, etc. Inflammation seems to be my doctor's answer for everything!

Needsomegoodnews · 18/05/2020 17:43

@Fishflakes I saw that announcement and quickly ordered a test even though at over 60 days it’s expected to be negative, just to check. Some (like the video posted yesterday) suggest that the blips we experience are low level reactivation of virus (which I guess means you could be positive one day, negative the next). I’m not sure I trust it either way though, given the extent of false negatives..

I’m now kicking myself a bit though as they’ll probably refuse an antibody test if those come out soon on the basis that I’ve only just tested (or tested negative - why couldn’t they just have tested me when I was really sick?!) The whole testing thing is totally disorganised chaos.

Is anyone else going to try to test anyway?

SimpleKindofLife · 18/05/2020 18:20

@Needsomegoodnews I don't know... at first I was yes, definitely ... but now I don't see the point. It'll probably be negative, as it's too late to test. It feels like another risk just going there.

Good point about the antibody tests.., a possibility! Shock

godhelpusall · 18/05/2020 18:22

I think the antibody tests will be rolled out in the same chaotic manner with high risk HCPs first

godhelpusall · 18/05/2020 18:22

Well that's what my doc said
