New thread,

I won't be a very good host as I tend to dip in and out of these things but have filled up the last thread. (Sorry)

OP posts:

I've mostly found our GP surgery helpful, but that they have no answers so there isn't any point calling them now. Antibiotics haven't worked so they're pointless.

LetsBeSensible · 18/05/2020 12:53

Day 61 maybe?
I remember being under 30 days and stating on the lungs threads. By the time I qualified as 30 days, the 30 day thread was called 40 days. I remember seeing people reach 60 days and whaddaya know, here I am.

Had a bad night- couldn’t get to sleep for hours. Then woke up by acid pain/indigestion in the front “bra band” area plus period pains. I’d been sweating in my sleep. So a mix of lanzoperazole, painkillers and rennies did enough to get the pain under control, then I slept until lunchtime.

I do think I overdid the white bread yesterday, so that would not have helped, and I forgot to have yoghurt. Lesson learned!
Regarding GERD this is something I was looking to be assessed for a few months ago. I have slipped into just saying I have it but it hasn’t been properly diagnosed.I mention this because the problems I was having pre-Covid were certainly stress-related, and I was “vomiting” acid, as in I had to carry a hanky as it would come up and shoot out of my mouth. I slept with an old blanket next to me as I would wake up chocking from the acid shooting into my mouth in the middle of the night....Envy —not envy!
Weirdly/thankfully it hasn’t been quite so extreme with the Covid.

Today I’m thankful for a cute lipsalve someone sent me to cheer me up. I know some people have been having dips/bad days so hope you are as well as can be. And if Pink One Blue One is back reading this, I hope you had a nice relaxing step away from the thread, no wonder you were anxious you must have been overwrought

mumlurker · 18/05/2020 13:03

Not posted for a few days. I'm at the start of week ten now (about 65 days). Feeling much better than a week ago but still crap, and can't help feeling that any progress is an illusion. I've been taking ibuprofen which does seem to be keeping the worst of the chest inflammation at bay, but i can't keep taking it indefinitely...trying just to take each day as it comes and enjoy feeling slightly better while it lasts.

I wonder if there's anyone out there who's taken part in these threads who really does feel recovered after the long haul?

planetcloud · 18/05/2020 13:12

I'm on week 9 or maybe 10 - no idea - managed a 20 minute walk on Saturday followed by a 2 1/2 hour sleep and still in bed fast asleep at 9pm. Yesterday had a bad migraine. Today I am off work - have been going in to work for a couple of hours if I am able and if not working from bed on my laptop. Just tried to do a bit of housework - now absolutely gasping, heart rate through the roof and dripping with sweat - when is this ever going to end? Lungs still burning but not as bad as last week - so far!

planetcloud · 18/05/2020 13:13

Also sweating really badly every night, although this could be menopausal, although I didn't have the sweats before this all kicked off.

mumlurker · 18/05/2020 13:18

I've been having the occasional night sweat but the weirdest thing is I seem to sweat exclusively from my chest!

Kitcat122 · 18/05/2020 13:23

@Moodgie my sob is just started to improve last week week 9ish. Feel completely normal most of the time. Until I walk up hill or do anything slightly aerobic then my lungs feel like they are too small. No lung capacity.

Rosesofeyam · 18/05/2020 13:27

Day 61(part 2)

Just had my phone back from the doctors.
GP wants to wait a couple of weeks to see if things settle down.
GP is reluctant to send me for other tests as I'm in the shielding group. GP said that unless symptoms get worse (SATS,chest pain etc.) I'm better going nowhere near the hospital, which I agreed with as I know the hospital have a high number of covid 19 cases.(DH senior management in that sector.)

If the symptoms are still the same in a couple of weeks they want to do some tests.

What I expected to be honest.
At least the information is added to my notes and gives the practice an insight into patients still suffering weeks after the virus.

GP did say that they wait 12 weeks post viral as it's common to take that long to get well.Sad

Norugratsatall · 18/05/2020 13:28

I wonder if there's anyone out there who's taken part in these threads who really does feel recovered after the long haul?

I've been wondering this too.... really need something positive to focus on as I'm rapidly sinking down this well now...

Moodgie · 18/05/2020 13:37

Thank you, @Kitcat122. What was it like before? Mine feels like there without even doing anything. Feels like my throat/windpipe is constricted. Is it even sob? I used to think sob is when you are breathing quickly. My lungs in a way feel like that too, like they’re too small.

SANDY2016 · 18/05/2020 13:58

Thanks to those that sent kind words I am slowly recovering but I had a test two weeks after been in intensive care unit to say now clear I'm sending love and best wishes to those still suffering from this and yes I do eventually slowly get better I'm suspecting some may be in recovery but not realise it as you do still have some sptoms lack of taste smell and feeling unwell, what I've seen is that when you've had it bad it's the recovery that's a long process I suspect some people may have had it bad and possibly needed hospital treatment but not had it.
Sepsis trust have info and booklets so far I've seeker my own mental health support for trama still looking on another post for anyone that's been in ICU the things I saw horrific

SANDY2016 · 18/05/2020 14:00

Moodgie don't want to scare u but people with what I said have required oxygen there are covid clinics please get checked out or if u feel unable to breath 999

Moodgie · 18/05/2020 14:06

@sandy2016 I have an oximeter and my sats are fine.

fedupofbed · 18/05/2020 14:15

Hi everyone. I made it into the garden this morning, and what a lovely day! I'm now feeling a bit breathless so resting in bed again. @mumlurker I know what you mean about not sure if you're improving - it's hard to measure if I'm actually getting better or getting better at managing my symptoms, if that makes sense.

@sleepwhenidie I'm not sure if it's a coincidence but I had a few days of insect like bites over my legs. It was a real mystery as it was much cooler weather then (March) and no one else was bitten. More recently, about 10 days ago, I developed small pinprick red spots over my torso. They didn't hurt or itch. They were red for a few days and have now subsided though still visible.

@SANDY2016 I'm so sorry you've had it so awful. I'm just wondering if you've joined the Slack support group? You will probably find more others there in your situation. In case not the link is

Finally I actually came on to post about another slightly more in-depth NHS collaborative survey that I found. It asks for all your symptoms, timelines, etc and asks if you'd be willing to participate in research. It was quite well hidden though.

SANDY2016 · 18/05/2020 14:22

Thanks I will look xx

sleepwhenidie · 18/05/2020 14:45

@planetcloud I had the worst night sweats, a couple of weeks before I had more typical symptoms (sore throat, aches, sudden and complete loss of t&s). I put it down to peri as well but they stopped after about 3 weeks. Period totally awol - was due 3rd week of Feb but still nothing. Possibly the easiest menopause ever (I’m 47) but weird coincidence.

@Norugratsatall you poor thing, try and keep your chin up, it’s so hard. DS’ ‘bites’ were strangest because he was the only one with them, v unusual in our family. No other symptoms at that point though. DD had a more pinprick type rash on her pelvis for about a week a few weeks back.

SimpleKindofLife · 18/05/2020 14:57

Hi, just over 7 weeks since first feeling ill (8 weeks since first tickle in throat) and after a massive dip on Thursday night, I think I'm ever so slightly improving.

Still have burning chest pain and burning upper back pain and a slight evening cough, but my SOB has really eased off, the tight pressure on my chest has eased and I feel like I have more energy. (Although I'm still too scared to do anything yet!) But most importantly, for me, my heart rate has come down! It was racing, beating out of my chest on any movement, and also waking me up at night, but for the past 2 days has it has been so much better.

Really hope I'm on the mend now. Fully expecting another dip, of course, but feeling a bit more hopeful today.

Just resting loads (I've taken another week off work and the kids have had way too much free play and tv unfortunately...I'll make it up to them), drinking lots of herbal tea, loads of supplements and sunshine in the garden. Oh and ibuprofen. I got to the point where I thought if I have a reaction to it and I end up in hospital at least they'd be forced to treat me... Blush I was just so desperate to be out of pain and paracetamol doesn't touch it.

In terms of recoveries, I've seen some on the Slack thread, usually between 8-10 weeks (it's a worldwide app so gives us a better longer-term picture). People are going for runs! Can you imagine?! But lack of recovery stories doesn't mean people aren't recovering. I guess people go off and start living their lives again and don't necessarily update these threads.

I saw a post on there that inspired me, wanted to share. Something like this is a big mountain were climbing, huge, the biggest we've ever seen. It has lots of summits, sometimes we stumble and fall down a little, sometimes we fall a bit further, but our bodies are still climbing, still fighting. We're aching and tired from the effort but we're doing it, we'll get there in the end, at our own pace. Love to you all Thanks

Norugratsatall · 18/05/2020 15:06

Thank you sleepwhenidie. 💐

Thank you too to fedupofbed for those links both to the slack one and the NHS research one. I've signed up for both - why not?! 😊

This is lovely - thank you @SimpleKindofLife - just what I needed to read this afternoon to force me to give myself a shake and get on with some work!

Moodgie · 18/05/2020 15:15

@SimpleKindofLife Thank you for these lovely word, made me cry. I have started week 11 now from my initial sore throat and I am really low today.

godhelpusall · 18/05/2020 15:33

Just spoke to the Covid hub dr on the phone. He was very reassuring saying it sounds like you have the long tail version but we think it's that your immune system is over sensitive to any proteins that are like the virus. It will flare up on occasion and you just have to eat well sleep well and get some exercise and you will get better. We can't say how long but trust that you will. Step away from dr google and trust that you are well past the stage of ending up in hospital on a ventilator. You aren't contagious anymore. And your bloods were fine so no sign of virus or bacterial infection or liver kidney or gallbladder issues.

Moodgie · 18/05/2020 15:42

@godhelpusall That is very reassuring. Thank you for sharing. What are your symptoms that you told them about?

godhelpusall · 18/05/2020 15:45

Painful chest, nausea, dizziness, swollen stomach, weird taste, burning skin feeling

godhelpusall · 18/05/2020 15:46

He said most people he's seeing have sob fatigue

godhelpusall · 18/05/2020 15:48

But compared to the rude twat last week he was very nice, engaged in a discussion where I was able to say what about blood boots? Should I have a D Dimer and he said no, the clots are micro vascular and are involved earlier usually. Also he said a D Dimer would not help, they are helpful to confirm DVT
