New thread,

I won't be a very good host as I tend to dip in and out of these things but have filled up the last thread. (Sorry)

Thank you all for your help I am trying not to Medicate my anxiety. I am anxious because I was in a COVID ward for 4 hours with very unwell people coughing all around me the man in the next beds mask wasn't covering his nose properly it was very busy they lady in the next bed had a temp of 39 and was delirious and acting oddly the nurse helping was struggling to keep her on her bed and in the cubicle. I got so tense and so worried that I was going to get sick again after being there as I was feeling better than I had been and had been placed in the green ward previously. It's probably traumatised me to a degree as I was scared I told the staff and felt unheard on that.

Facts are I have had the virus I am certain of that. I just have to hope my immune system does its job and protects me.

Crayfishforyou · 17/05/2020 21:53

@pinkoneblueone your immune system will protect you. My GP swears people have immunity after this, for how long she didn't know, but it does happen.

I ended up having a bad few hours today, not an entire day, which is wonderful really.
I hope it's a corner turned and tomorrow is not completely downhill.
The last week I think, overall has not been too bad. Especially when I compare it to previous weeks.
I haven't had a full on attack from the fear demons since last friday. I have little anxiety episodes on leaving the house. I'm terrified of being away from my house, in case my pulse goes nuts. It did it last week for the first time in a few weeks but I was less than a minute away.
I'm still on 700 steps a day and I'm painfully slow. I'm comfortable with it though, I know pushing it is a bad idea.
My main bad symptoms are, actually my only real ones left are; deep breaths are hit and miss, BPM likes to shoot upwards, chest pain.
The chest pain is probably the most debilitating.

JackJackIncredible · 17/05/2020 22:08

@MummyPop00

Sorry you’re still poorly.
Lung scarring is highly unlikely unless you’ve had a particularly unpleasant pneumonia. Not sure if GPs are able to refer for xrays right now but worth a phone call.
Have you had any antibiotics? Might be a secondary infection.

sleepwhenidie · 17/05/2020 22:22

@Linus1972 thank you for that very useful summary!

@godhelpusall how is your DD? It’s so worrying isn’t it? I managed to persuade my DD to walk to the park 5 mins away today and then we just sat under a tree for a bit. She was wiped after that. I sent GP an update by email on Friday afternoon, I’ve left it to them to call if they think any action is necessary. I was just stroking her back saying goodnight and she said ‘your hands feel really warm but cold at the same time, it’s so weird’... something she has described feeling in herself quite frequently, hot and cold at the same time. Anyone else had this?

Another curious one, DS(14) has symptoms for about 3-4 days 5-6 weeks ago and was fine but has had a couple of days, a few days apart, where he seemed to have a lot of insect bites all over him..after having seen the photos of DC’s rashes I’m wondering about this. No one else has any bites, I’d washed his bed linen, he wasn’t outside that much and it’s not exactly the time of year or temperature to get them Confused. Antihistamine tabs sorted him out.

pinkoneblueone · 18/05/2020 00:23

@sleepwhenidie

My son 15 has developed a chicken pox like rash on his chest and back. I am calling our doctor in the morning about it

pinkoneblueone · 18/05/2020 00:23

I'm only doing this as he is otherwise well.

I had covid desperate posts has anyone had it like me I'm 40no underlying conditions and boomf two days of sickness and diarreah and I find myself ringing999ambulance into intensive care ICU on a cpap machine for 11days really shot my mental health home now but a mess physical ly and mental and no follow ups !

MummyPop00 · 18/05/2020 01:35

@JackJackIncredible

Thanks for the reply Jack.

No, I’ve had no antibiotics prescribed thus far. I did say I was concerned about the possibility of a second infection when I called the GP (at week 5) but the GP was quite dismissive. Just told me to take paracetamol for the suspected pleurisy. Which I’ve not done as I want to go as easy as poss on my Liver.

Ongoing pleurisy & SOB after 7 weeks is pretty grim. Really hoping I can turn a corner soon. Think I’ll leave it another week and at the 8 week point, give GP another call. He did say some people can take 4 - 8 weeks to get over it. Well, I’m not far off that 8 weeks now Sad

Egghead68 · 18/05/2020 06:37

Morning. Day 58/59 and still feeling OK for now touch wood (aside from fatigue, chest pain and tachycardia).

Here’s another article about long-term symptoms:
www.aol.com/article/news/2020/05/05/another-cruel-covid-19-trick-symptoms-that-wont-go-away/24207010/

@SANDY2016 it sounds like you have had a terrible time of it. I hope you and @MummyPop00 feel better soon.

Crayfishforyou · 18/05/2020 08:07

@SANDY2016
I'm not surprised your mental health is shot, you poor poor thing having to go through all that.
111 has, I believe, got some mental health support. Please ring them

I've woken up twice due to a racing heart. DH is out at work today.
Ive still got palpitations just lying in bed. I'm going to dig out my ice packs and apply that, if it is caused by inflammation it might provide some relief.

Rosesofeyam · 18/05/2020 08:52

godhelpusall sorry,I didn't reply yesterday as I went to bed early.
My existing conditions are severe asthma, OA,arthritis type,eye condition.(trying to be vague, as all together are rare and very outing.)

Day 61

I have been awake on and off all night.
My temp.went up to 37.8 (normally 36.7). Feeling shaky with palpitations,headache,more chest pain,lungs feeling like a sponge,diarrhoea .Sad I'm hoping it's not back and I've got to go through it again.Sad

I am going to phone the doctors shortly.

I just want to get off this merry go round.

I will let you all know how I get on.
I don't expect that there's much they can do.

Porcupineinwaiting · 18/05/2020 09:25

@TiddleTaddleTat all my symptoms worsen in the run up to a period I'm afraid. Then improve again after it starts, so it's a dip rather than a return to the beginning.

Mittens030869 · 18/05/2020 09:38

I thought I was getting better. But yesterday, not only did my temperature go up again, it I puked again, in the evening. So I'm still not over this by any stretch, although I am producing less phlegm now. It's day 96 now. Sad

Kitcat122 · 18/05/2020 09:54

@mummyPop00 I had a big dip then week 8 suddenly turned a corner. My main symptoms were chest/pluersy pain and sob. Note back to normal but feel good. I used to run most o mornings but am walking my quick run route each morning. Can get a bit of a stomp on the flat just take it slow up hill. Quite a few have improved massively at 8 weeks so fingers crossed 🤞 for you. Healing prayers to the ones still suffering.

Moodgie · 18/05/2020 09:57

Hi @kitcat122, I am having a dip. Feel like a constricted throat and upper chest which makes my breathing off. Runny tummy and nausea in the mornings like clockwork still. What was your last dip like?

Norugratsatall · 18/05/2020 10:01

@SANDY2016 gosh you poor thing! I can't believe you've had no follow ups. I would call your GP and say you're struggling both physically and mentally. ❤️

@sleepwhenidie actually spring is the perfect time for mozzies to swarm. I think there have been more than usual this year due to a very wet Feb and early March. I'm smothered this year which is unusual for me. I hope he's ok anyway.

Norugratsatall · 18/05/2020 10:03

@Mittens030869 Day 96! You must be at the end of your tether. I really really hope you turn a corner soon. I'm on Day 58 and have turned many a corner only to be disappointed days later....

Crayfishforyou · 18/05/2020 10:25

@Kitcat122 I'm holding onto that, I'm just starting week 8 now.

I've noticed on nights I wake up with my heart racing, in the morning I have bright red cheeks.
Before I go back to sleep I have to consciously breathe for a while. My fitbit says my bpm goes to the low 60s in my sleep now, which is old normal for me. I wonder whether my sats drop whilst I'm asleep and then my heart has to race to catch up.

Lightsabre · 18/05/2020 10:42

@SANDY2016, that sounds so traumatic - there is meant to be a comprehensive package of rehab care, including psychological support for those who have been in ICU. Call your GP or 111 who can hopefully help.

@MummyPop00, I'm also coming in to week 8 with very debilitating shortness of breath and searing upper back pain. I am stronger in myself though with more energy. I've been taking paracetamol 2-3 times a day but aiming to cut that down to 1-2 times this week. Ibuprofen gel on the back has helped too. I was advised by the respiratory nurse at the British Lung Foundation that pneumonia like changes to the respiratory system can take up to 6 months to get better.

Kitcat122 · 18/05/2020 10:53

@Moodgie my symptoms were terrible chest and back pain but I got really painful (lymph node's??) under my armpits and the top of my chest below collar which was a new symptom. Plus sob. I got so sick of it I took nurofen for a few days and been much better since then.

Mittens030869 · 18/05/2020 11:06

norugratsatall

Thank you. Yes I really am tearing my hair out! And feel like doing it literally, as it looks an absolute fright (I desperately need a hair appointment like a lot of us)!! It's really awful for our DDs. But I'm also very nervous about a return to school, not just because of my illness and being afraid of catching something else, but because my DH has asthma.

Moodgie · 18/05/2020 11:49

@Kitcat122 What was your sob like? Mine is really worrying me now.

Moominmamma33 · 18/05/2020 12:13

My GP just dismissed me basically, she clearly isn't aware that these recurring symptoms are a thing! She suggested my household self-isolate for another 14 days and I take a covid test - as it's been 2 months I won't do either as pointless, the virus cannot still be active. She wouldn't refer me to x-ray unless I have a full week without a raised temp (it goes up once a day and has been for 8 weeks). She offered antibiotics but I won't take them as bloods showed no infection, and am breastfeeding and don't like unnecessary antibiotics. Just feel left high and dry.. thank you for this thread otherwise would be completely lost.

MummyPop00 · 18/05/2020 12:33

@Moominmamma33

I feel your pain. They don’t know much better than we do.

So frustrating. But reassuring that there are other ‘long haulers’ out there...and it could be worse of course!

Mittens030869 · 18/05/2020 12:33

@Moominmamma33 I have that symptom, too. Sometimes I've thought I was over that, but then I find out that it was simply because I was dosed you with paracetamol because of chest pain, which comes and goes. I haven't had a day that's free of a temperature when I haven't had paracetamol.
