So here we go. Early start 6 of us in a big vehicle on our way to enjoy Cornwall. Can anyone recommend anywhere nice?

We’ll be stopping at many petrol stations en route to handle the nozzle but beware of Michelle she’s got a bit of a cough. Nothing to worry about though.

It's too early for this sarcasm OP. Grin

Ploppymoodypants · 11/05/2020 06:18

Nooooo! Obviously I appreciate your post is a joke, but I cried last night when I realised the impact of his ‘go where you like’ statement. We live in the South West and it’s what we are all dreading. Why oh why didn’t he put a 20 mile zone around your travel (part from essential like work etc)

Jenasaurus · 11/05/2020 06:18

Make sure you sit on all the benches along the way and close all the gates after you have swum in the pond.

TJH130 · 11/05/2020 06:20

Ah yes forgot benches any one know where there’s a lot really close to peoples gardens?

and you need to wait until Wednesday!

Jenasaurus · 11/05/2020 06:30

Yes and remember to pop to the supermarket when you arrive to buy lots of loo roll as you will need to use it when you take a poo behind a bush as the pubic toilets are all closed.

Mummyoflittledragon · 11/05/2020 06:38

Fuck waiting til Wednesday. All the papers said it was today. And we know they never lie. Bit like the government really.

Room for one more op? Pick me up on the way through....

Bloody hell, Adele's looking good isn't she.

Orangeblossom78 · 11/05/2020 06:44

We're hoping to go sailing soon seeing as outdoor watersports are now allowed

AvalancheKit · 11/05/2020 06:45

People won’t be able to travel to Cornwall. There is no petrol at the forecourts. Due to the drop in vehicle travel, fuel tankers were converted to carry other bulk products in high demand such as sanitising gels, gin and processed flour. It will take at least until 7 September to reconvert them to fuel carriers.

rwalker · 11/05/2020 06:49

They have given us a bit of freedom and it's up to us to be sensible .But as usual we will be fucked by selfish peolpe who wern't following the last set of rules.

Orangeblossom78 · 11/05/2020 06:53

People do go to petrol stations everywhere for fuel, not just en route to the beach!

also I'm sure they are able to fill up before they travel...

pirateparker · 11/05/2020 06:57

Please no no no! I’ve loved having the beach all to myself!! Lots of locals already hating the grockles... watch out!

Biscuit0110 · 11/05/2020 06:58

I am coming too! I have some biscuits to share and a thermal ski jacket.

transformandriseup · 11/05/2020 06:58

You joke about this but actually ...

I had to go the one and only hospital yesterday which is half an hour from home and there was nothing open at all. No family members allowed in the hospital so DH couldn't use any toilet for several hours.

Leafyhouse · 11/05/2020 06:58

Personally, I'm going to rush down there and snap up a few bargains. I've heard you can get a 1 bed flat in Mousehole for less than £1m. They must be getting desperate!

Orangeblossom78 · 11/05/2020 06:59

A lot of rural places depend on tourism for their income though. I live in a touristy place too and some restaurants are waiting to be able to at least open outdoors, managing with delivery services at present

There is a balance- social distanced outside is much less risky

TrickyD · 11/05/2020 07:06

The Cornish economy relies on tourism.
The locals do not want tourists to visit Cornwall.
Good luck with that.

Orangeblossom78 · 11/05/2020 07:16

We have a chemical toilet thank you

EffOrf · 11/05/2020 07:16

Packing up the van to come down on Wednesday, jet ski in back as watersports allowed now, must dig the Shewee out and of course my mac and fleece.

Orangeblossom78 · 11/05/2020 07:19

Will campsites and caravan sites be open now I wonder. We don't tend to go to Cornwall as it gets so busy in some places. Know someone with a mobile home there though

EffOrf · 11/05/2020 07:24

Caravan and Motorhome club sites are closed until the end of June but I guess they could change that if they were able to open earlier

Hippee · 11/05/2020 07:24

Maybe it's a way to raise money? He did say that fines would be raised, so perhaps they're waiting to fine anyone who takes the piss (says hopefully).

MrsMozartMkII · 11/05/2020 07:25

Can I go too please.

It'll take me a few hours but there's loads of services on the way to stop at and little shops to wander around (they'll be open right?).

I could go and see my aged shielding step-Mum who lives right on the coast. That'll be nice. We can go out and about, visit the locals, I'm sure it'll all be fine...

Morsmordre · 11/05/2020 07:28

This post made me chuckle this morning! Seriously though - I hope Michelle's cough gets better soon. Some Cornish sea air and stroll on the beach should sort her right out!
