I know this is pure speculation, but any predictions about changes from next Monday?

www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-05-06/johnson-says-some-changes-to-u-k-lockdown-likely-from-monday

OP posts:
pawsforawhile · 06/05/2020 21:57

Very recent . Probably a work in progress.

Easilyanxious · 06/05/2020 21:57

Some countries are doing travel so many km from home for exercise and then maybe further few weeks later would guess we may do similar not likely to allow travel across whole uk in one go
Also re : more infections that will also be down to the fact we are testing more so will pick up more
I'm not expecting too much to be lifted Monday ,Sunday will be about telling us how restrictions will get lifted in the future
But with the meeting day 4 people some places are doing if you have 4 in your house and you all meet up with 3 different people that's exposure to quite a few and if you did that with a different 3 the next day etc you will end up with quite a few contacts in a week whereas I guess a bubble would be more limited , but choosing one would be hard , so tough decisions to be made

DenimDrift · 06/05/2020 21:57

restaurants/cafes mentioned?

pawsforawhile · 06/05/2020 21:58

Denim yes . Mentioned.

MrsWhites · 06/05/2020 21:59

Why is everyone jumping on August, surely if the document is correct it just means phase 5 starts in August, not necessarily that schools will start again in August, just that they are part of the phase that starts in August?!

Peppafrig · 06/05/2020 22:00

I'm guessing cafes and restaurants they will be phase 3 and the 29/6 funnily enough the same as Ireland.

hotstepper4 · 06/05/2020 22:01

I just want to see my mum..

pawsforawhile · 06/05/2020 22:02

Peppa

Correct . 29/6/20. Social distancing to remain however.

Easilyanxious · 06/05/2020 22:02

I'm also guessing the person who claimed to know was actually reading the Irish plan posted over Facebook that people were thinking was England's , do people not get that they will have to wait until Sunday

pawsforawhile · 06/05/2020 22:04

Easily

No. I screenshot my email notification but whatever.

Peppafrig · 06/05/2020 22:04

So is Paws is correct then basically our plan is Ireland's plan even down to dates exactly the same. What have they been working on if it's identical.

RunningNinja79 · 06/05/2020 22:05

So no new information anywhere. The government have always said schools wont fully reopen until the new academic year. I have 3 children (Yrs 3, 7 and 10) and going by what has been said by people before I expect to have at least one of them home until September at least.

Not saying I don't believe you paws, but I can't see what I didn't already know, or at least have been led to believe by the message the government have already given.

Personally for me I think there will be very little change next week. Im WFH, family all live over an hours drive away and as I've just stated not expecting the children to go back to school.

Also dreading the social bubble idea. Not because I can't choose, but because it will show me that I dont have any close friends. Everyone always has another 3 or 4 people above me.

sylbunny · 06/05/2020 22:06

So just to be clear, Paws you are saying that the UK is just following the Irish plan? Also you don't seem to be too concerned about the confidentiality of this document if this is true? Are you not at all worried the DM may pick this up and publish? You may then get the sack? If I were your employer I'd be furious

pawsforawhile · 06/05/2020 22:07

No changes until 18th May .

Looks like we're mirroring Ireland.

lyralalala · 06/05/2020 22:09

@DenimDrift

its a matter of a week or two....and it could easily be a one off

and teachers contracts can be changed.....why would they object?

You can’t change the contract of every single teacher in England without the agreement of the teaching unions and without the unions at least getting the gist of their members opinions.

The Easter cover was a voluntary thing on the part of the teachers who were involved not a contract change.

confusedandtired99 · 06/05/2020 22:09

Wouldn’t it be a good idea if we were all following the same plan as we are so closely linked?

I would be surprised in the slightest.

RunningNinja79 · 06/05/2020 22:10

Looks like we're mirroring Ireland

Cant our government think of their own plan?

Not that I'm bothered, it just seems lazy

Easilyanxious · 06/05/2020 22:13

Don't think we will be exact same as Ireland's prob similar , as all countries will have similarities but not same as we didn't have same lockdown
Also surely only those very high up would have access to official documents

Easilyanxious · 06/05/2020 22:14

@sylbunny that's what I though

Peppafrig · 06/05/2020 22:15

Anyone with access to the governments plans before they are public would not be stupid enough to post on a public forum. I guess that whoever paws works for is using Ireland's model to loosely plan until they know for definite .

Casino218 · 06/05/2020 22:16

Do I cancel our holiday to a luxury yurt in Cornwall booked for August or not? Can't see dates on that plan.

Ipadipod · 06/05/2020 22:17

Is there anyone in the government in contact with businesses and shops etc to give them a heads up on when they can open ? Or are they going to announce they can open on Monday with no prior notice for them to inform staff. I’m not looking forward to getting an email late on Sunday saying I’ve got to go in the next day.

pawsforawhile · 06/05/2020 22:18

Well when people are goading it's hard not to try and counter the naysayers.

I have asked for deletions.
