Just a Yes or No thread there are hundreds on the ins and outs of this.

This morning I read that Matt Hancock is claiming support for an extension is strong amongst the public but that’s not the impression I’m getting from social media

So, will you stick to the rules if lockdown in the UK is extended for another 3 weeks

Yes or No

Yes.

SunnyStroll · 28/04/2020 13:47

Yes. Odd how what we see on SM varies so much. From mine, I think there'll be outrage if it's not extended.

iamapixie · 28/04/2020 13:48

Not much choice so I'll have to.
Don't support it though.

OrangeCinnamon · 28/04/2020 13:48

Yes

SugarPlumLairy2 · 28/04/2020 13:49

Yes

I’m at risk as is my Dd so we need to stay home as so many people round here are already acting like business as normal ☹️

Wolfie11 · 28/04/2020 13:50

No. I won’t be having big gatherings and I will maintain social distancing with strangers and elderly/high risk family but I will start to see my partner and my mum.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 28/04/2020 13:50

The question is pretty much moot. There is no 'back to normal' as everywhere's pretty much closed and the options are limited as to where we can go. My family and friends are not local and nor is my usual workplace.

I won't be flouting guidelines and have no reason to do so. But what I certainly won't be doing is inventively interpreting them and reporting others on the basis of my interpretation.

So, yes.

Parker231 · 28/04/2020 13:51

For those saying no - why !!!!

There has already been 20,000 hospital deaths and 4,000 in a two week period in care homes ( with this estimated to currently be c25,000 when the records are updated).

DollysDrawers · 28/04/2020 13:51

I'm in the shielding category too, another 6 weeks to go. Not exactly loving this, but I'm trying to see it for what it is and hoping that in 6/9 months time this will all be a bad memory.

SunShine682 · 28/04/2020 13:52

100% no.

Yurona · 28/04/2020 13:53

I would stick to it. I do believe however that the price to be paid in terms of lives would be much higher than the costs of the virus would be

Yes.

I want to be back at work as a teacher, with my class, as soon as possible. Social distancing in primary is impossible, so the only safe way to do this is if the community transmission rate is REALLY small. So I will do everything I can over the coming few weeks to drive the number of cases down and enable the opening of schools to happen rapidly, and as close to 'normally' as possible, thereafter.

SunShine682 · 28/04/2020 13:56

I wonder to what extent they’re thinking of breaching the rules and whether they’re already doing it anyway

Seeing family & friends. Going to each other’s houses.
Going to the shops when and how many times I want.
If I want to just pop out for a drive I will.
Multiple walks outside with friends when I want.

Mother87 · 28/04/2020 13:56

Yes

cherrybunx0 · 28/04/2020 13:56

no - I will be going to see my mum

DollysDrawers · 28/04/2020 13:56

For those saying no - why !!!!

Because they think they know better @Parker231. Or are not bothered about how it could affect others. Some people really do live in their own bubble and refuse to see further than the end of their own nose.

I'm not talking about those people having a socially distanced cuppa with their neighbour over the fence. Nor am I talking about the made up Mumsnet 'roolz' where some people expect everyone to hide in their airing cupboard for the next 6 months. People keep talking about 'using their common sense' while displaying that they have none. Those are the ones than concern me.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 28/04/2020 13:56

Yes

I miss work. Sooner I can go back the better.

RegDet · 28/04/2020 13:57

Sorry, but unless there's a vaccine or a cure/treatment, you will still be shielding after 6 weeks. You'll still be at highest risk and there'll still be people walking around shops etc carrying it and infecting others. Of course, as you are now, you're free to ignore the shielding advice and go out and about, but sadly, like now, you won't be safe in 6 weeks either. Of course, if there are fewer infected people around, your chances of catching it will be lower, but you will be at risk, for the rest of the year without a vaccine/treatment.

TheSandman · 28/04/2020 13:57

Yes.

LeopardPrintKnickers · 28/04/2020 13:58

Wholeheartedly yes. I will stay in lockdown as long as it's deemed the safest thing to do.

cantory · 28/04/2020 13:58

@Parker231 There are always people who think they and their family will be okay and that is all that matters. There is no real enforcement in the UK unlike on the continent.
