Just a Yes or No thread there are hundreds on the ins and outs of this.

This morning I read that Matt Hancock is claiming support for an extension is strong amongst the public but that’s not the impression I’m getting from social media

So, will you stick to the rules if lockdown in the UK is extended for another 3 weeks

Yes or No

OP posts:

For those saying no - why !!!!

OP didn't ask for those posting to explain their answers, but if you take a look back some saying no have given their reasons. Often focusing on mental health, loneliness and loss of income.

I think in general a large part of mumsnet is a sector of society for whom lockdown does not present the difficulties of many other people.

I cite the threads and threads where people are saying how much they are enjoying it.

And the posters shrieking that we will all DIE or be murderers unless we shut ourselves away forever.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 28/04/2020 14:00

Yes

I’m sure many of us will to the modern British equivalent of getting annoyed and writing a letter by posting on social media how very angry we are

Tanith · 28/04/2020 14:00

Yes

MrsMonicaBing · 28/04/2020 14:00

100% yes

halcyondays · 28/04/2020 14:01

Yes

Crayfishforyou · 28/04/2020 14:01

Yes.
I have the virus, there's also no proof of immunity after catching it. I think I'd die if I caught it again.
I wouldn't wish it on anybody. Its evil.
The fewer people who catch it the better.

MrsSnitchnose · 28/04/2020 14:02

No. I will be going to the shops as and when I please, and going to visit my parents and friends. I've had enough now

MilkNoSugars · 28/04/2020 14:02

Yes.

I will do as I'm told as I'm hoping the government is basing their request on advice from medical experts!

Sparklingbrook · 28/04/2020 14:04

People that are shielding, after the 12 weeks is up will have to make choices. They can't stay locked in the house forever, or until a vaccine is found if they don't wish to.

Porcupineinwaiting · 28/04/2020 14:05

And do your family and friends get any say in that @MrsSnitchnose?

cantory · 28/04/2020 14:05

@Sparklingbrook Actually it looks as if the advice might be that they do exactly that.

2bazookas · 28/04/2020 14:06

yes.

MrsSnitchnose · 28/04/2020 14:07

@Porcupineinwaiting Yes they do, we've already dicsussed it

2bazookas · 28/04/2020 14:07

yes

WiltedDaffs · 28/04/2020 14:07

Yes

Sparklingbrook · 28/04/2020 14:08

I think it's the only way cantory, just make educated choices while keeping risk to a minimum. I can see the official advice being 'You should stay at home and shield but it's up to you'.

DollysDrawers · 28/04/2020 14:08

Sorry, but unless there's a vaccine or a cure/treatment, you will still be shielding after 6 weeks. You'll still be at highest risk and there'll still be people walking around shops etc carrying it and infecting others. Of course, as you are now, you're free to ignore the shielding advice and go out and about, but sadly, like now, you won't be safe in 6 weeks either. Of course, if there are fewer infected people around, your chances of catching it will be lower, but you will be at risk, for the rest of the year without a vaccine/treatment.

I do realise that @Kazzyhoward, I suppose I just meant another 6 weeks to go 'at the moment'. I know shielding will go on for longer, but it's easier to deal with if you think about it in smaller chunks rather than the likelihood of many, many more months if you know what I mean.

Drivingdownthe101 · 28/04/2020 14:09

Actually it looks as if the advice might be that they do exactly that

Advice is just that... advice. People who are shielding will have to make their own decisions on how to proceed. Some will not want to stay at home until a vaccine is found, and that’s their choice.

kittensarecute · 28/04/2020 14:09

I've had enough - desperate to see my dad but yes I will continue to follow rules as long as I need to do so.

Msgiggles30 · 28/04/2020 14:14

No. My partner is sat alone in his home not working. I'm sat alone in mine WFH 🤷‍♀️.

LastTrainEast · 28/04/2020 14:16

Yes

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 28/04/2020 14:18

Yes but I'll be following the government guidelines, not the MN rules.

RideaCockHorseOfCourse · 28/04/2020 14:19

Absolutely, yes. If we don't do this thing, there will be another peak and many more deaths. It will undo much of the good we've managed so far........

Toothsil · 28/04/2020 14:19

Yes
