Has anyone had the rash

puguin86 · 25/04/2020 22:38

So. 4 weeks ago I think I had Coronavirus. Temp over 40 and awful cough. Go prescribed me ABx and steroids but it would not shift. DC went on to develop coughs.

Unknown to me my line manager had also at the same time been admitted to ICU and was confirmed Covid. Which makes me even more sure !

For the past three weeks DH, DC and I have developed a chicken pox / hive rash /. Bruising. . Went to the chemist who said might be scabies or bed bugs. Grim.

Bought all the cream. Bed bug vacuum ! All the works. Thankfully big enough house to sleep in separate rooms.

Still ongoing after 3 weeks soo made an apt with gp over zoom

Gp adament that it is Covid 19 related and is one
Of the symptoms!

Anyone else

Oh my. I've had covid. End of Feb, took til beginning of April to get better. My son had chickenpox mid March. Temp, sore throat and spots. Didn't last that long. Was it perhaps covid?

Myshinynewname · 28/04/2020 01:59

I had typical but fairly mild covid symptoms mid March and appeared to get better after a week. A week later I got a rash with tiny blisters on my neck, it looked exactly like user246... daughter above. GP thought possibly shingles although not following a typical distribution around one nerve but wasn't concerned. A couple of days later I got much worse covid symptoms of high temp/cough/severely short of breath with with my oxygen saturation randomly dropping/severe fatigue and ended up in hospital. My fingers were occasionally going blue even when my oxygen levels were measuring okay, especially on my right hand. I'm now home and a lot better than I was but the rash is still there (almost 4 weeks after it appeared and 6 weeks after I first became ill). I'm mid thirties.
Shingles, chicken pox and cold sores are all herpes virus that can stay latent and flare when you're immune system is compromised - I wonder whether there could be some link?

My mum has had a hives type rash for nearly 3 weeks now, went out in the sun & at first we thought it was sunburn, she also has had a spotty rash on one leg that she is in agony with, can't bear any clothing to touch it with pain going in to her foot. She has felt very tired & achy but no cough.

thesedaysarescary · 28/04/2020 15:44

I think my daughter had covid at the beginning of March. She came home with a high temp and sore throat from school, she had a sore throat for 5 days and temperature. Then began with a cough and had diarrhea for 2 days. 3 days later had chicken pox like spots in a cluster on her thighs and small of her back, one on her face. She had chicken pox very badly last year so I knew it couldn't be that. She still has scabs on the spots now!
My other daughter had the high temp and cough for nearly a week, starting 2 days after her sister the cough is still lingering now. My elsdest son had a temperature and cough for only 2 days starting 4 days after my eldest daughter. My other son had no symptoms and I had a temp and sore throat but no cough.

These days!!

That exactly the pattern my dd followed after coming home from sking in Italy end feb. She was actually tested and it was negative but now I have my doubts and think it's a false negative as we also all got coughs and my son now has this weird toe thing. It's all a bit of a coincidence

Greenmarmalade · 29/04/2020 00:07

@Nat6999 shingles? She should see a doctor.

Lozz22 · 29/04/2020 00:55

I had a rash all over my hands then it turned into red pin prick spots. At first I thought it was dermatitis from all the hand washing I was doing, or a sudden allergy to the gloves I wear for work. The gloves I have had absolutely no problems with for the last year and a half. I also had a dull ache in my chest and rib cage and upper back which hurt every time I moved for around a day. Weeks later though the pain in my upper back is still there. I have no other symptoms apart from a cough which is normal anyway because I smoke. The only other not so common symptom is a constant runny nose which I'd put down to hay fever then realised even inside with the windows shut tight, no flowers or plants in either and it still runs like a tap.

Realitea · 29/04/2020 15:10

Does this look like what others have had? I’ve just started antibiotics so it’s hard to tell what’s what at the moment
I have been feeling unwell lately, just very tired and groggy, nauseous at times but nothing else.

SabrinaTheTeenageBitch · 29/04/2020 15:35

@Realitea - Keep a eye on it and contact gp if concerned obviously but that is very similar to what I had

Laniakea · 29/04/2020 15:47

This is the website my GP uses (!) it’s got a good section on covid rashes

dermnetnz.org/topics/covid-19/

Dh currently has what quite a few drs think is covid toe(s), he’s otherwise completely asymptomatic - he’s got a video call with dr number 4 tomorrow to see if there is any way/point in testing him. It would probably be negative, since it started on Friday, there’s such a high false -ve rate & toe only ppl often test negative.

(I’ve got more obvious symptoms - though not that unwell - they offered to test me but the government website can’t verify me with their stupid system so I guess we just won’t know!)

SabrinaTheTeenageBitch · 29/04/2020 15:59

@Laniakea Thats incredibly helpful. I posted a picture of my DD's spots (who would be patient zero in our house although we obv don't know if it was covid) and that's exactly what hers were like - chicken pox type blisters but never scabbed and have completely disappeared now

Realitea · 29/04/2020 20:19

I’ve been accepted for testing just now so will report back on what happens. It might answer a few questions about the rash as that’s what I have!

PennyArrowBar · 29/04/2020 21:23

That's pretty much exactly what mine looked like realitea

Realitea · 29/04/2020 21:29

It does seem to be a common thing. Did your dad recover well? And you? It’s strange that I only really have this and not too bad otherwise
Felt tired and stuff but any other time I would’ve still gone to work and not been too worried

PennyArrowBar · 29/04/2020 21:49

Completely, both of us. Took about a month for us to shake the cough respectively. Same for the exhaustion. I still have short of breath moments and I've had horrendous sinus headaches until last week. Obviously I don't know if it actually was Covid but I do wonder.

Realitea · 29/04/2020 21:54

It does sound like it. Glad you’re both better now

Broadwayb · 29/04/2020 22:12

I woke up one morning absolutely covered in what looked like a cross between a viral rash and eczema. It came out of nowhere - I remember waking up in the middle of the night itching like mad and in the morning had this awful rash. It lasted about 4 days but faded quite quickly after the first day. The only other time I’ve ever had anything like it was when I had glandular fever - very similar rash with that.

DS (12) had what looked like a few chicken poxy spots on his legs, back and tummy. They didn’t blister like CP though.

Don't know if this is useful. Thought I'd post in case it is.

JessJonesJumps · 16/05/2020 20:20

I know this is a slightly old thread but I woke up today with a very itchy hand. The palm of my hand has about 5 red marks almost like friction marks. They have been itching all day and tipped into being painful at a few points.
I was wondering if it was my gloves or the antibacterial wipes that we use but I've been using the same brands for about a month with no reaction.
If you had the rash, did you isolate away from your family? Or just go on as normal?

whenwillthemadnessend · 16/05/2020 22:41

From what I read the rash is a late development when your body is recovering. But I'm not a doc so I'd say stay home.

Did you have symptoms 3/4 weeks w

findingschools4myboys · 16/05/2020 22:51

How interesting. My second son developed some spots on both side of his hips and a few on his shoulder that look like the photos that had been sent. I thought it was insect bites so had just been putting sudocream on it but it has been heeling. I believe he has the virus back in 3rd week of March!

FelicityElectricity · 16/05/2020 22:56

Yes us to! All three kids developed this chickenpox type rash one after the other. Spoke to GP who tried to tell me it was bacterial. Kids are fine in themselves and no fevers at all.

Has anyone had the rash
SquashedFlyBiscuit · 16/05/2020 23:06

Oh same here! I was wondering of it was molluscum and really dont know. But it came as the cough went.

FelicityElectricity · 16/05/2020 23:08

See this slide circulating about these dermatological symptoms.
