Would you send your kids to school in June / July

If there is already a thread on this I will ask for it to be deleted.

Hypothetically if the government say schools can open in June / July and you can send them if you wish or you could wait until September would you send them?

Not taking into account any additional needs other siblings may have or your mental health or needing to work etc.

Yes, although I'd be happier if it was mid or end of june. At some point there will be a second wave and I think if everyone went back in September that would create a massive one? If they're back for a few weeks or a month in july/end june then there is all summer for the rate to steady off again- assuming that kids are spreading it which we dont really know. There will be plenty of time to monitor the impact which would hopefully be minimal.

Fair enough OP : your dyslexia does not show, by the way. You have been very clear. People are being polite on this thread. As you can see the jury is very much out. 50:50 I'd say.

louise5754 · 21/04/2020 20:32

I usually mention both in my post but when it comes to things like this I didn't think I would need to

OP posts:
SpeedofaSloth · 21/04/2020 20:32

Yes.

Hadenoughfornow · 21/04/2020 20:34

Thats debatable. I am getting very close to reporting some comments on this post. Not keen on people who tend to gang up on others

Humina · 21/04/2020 20:34

No

flowerycurtain · 21/04/2020 20:56

Yes.
No family health issues and I'm struggling to work.

If the govt says the risk to society is Lower I'm happy to send them in.

winterchills · 21/04/2020 20:58

Yes I would

joan12 · 21/04/2020 20:59

Yes. My eldest needs coaxed out for exercise, my middle needs constant nagging to keep up his reading. Normally they just do these things along with their friends. They need that back as soon as possible.

SuitedandBooted · 21/04/2020 21:27

I would prefer after the next half term, if not before. Waiting for September could create a big upsurge in numbers just as we move into the normal flu season.

MartiniDry · 21/04/2020 21:53

In a word, no.

JellyBelly78 · 21/04/2020 22:00

No, definitely no!
The numbers are truly shocking at the moment, we are no where near ready to open up in May/June...still thousands of new infections and deaths every week!

It feels like people have become numb to the numbers that are dying which is a very sad.
I would be much happier with September and will keep mine home, even though we are suffering financially. The government were too slow to act and now we’re in this mess, there will be a huge second peak if we jump too soon.

PrimalLass · 21/04/2020 22:04

It feels like people have become numb to the numbers that are dying which is a very sad.

Or maybe we are all desperately hoping that by 1 June - nearly 6 weeks - that it is all a lot better.

Growingboys · 21/04/2020 22:15

Yes

FrippEnos · 21/04/2020 22:17

@BriefDisaster

You posted I responded, no need to get tetchy.

HairyToity · 21/04/2020 22:29

Not sure. If I didn't work it would be till September. I took voluntary redundancy end of January. I was offered a new job a week before lockdown. If the job offer still stands then DC will be back at school. If the job isn't there would wait till September. My husband has asthma and high blood pressure. He works mostly from home. I would love the additional money from job though, but suspect we would be safer staying home.

Mustbethewine · 21/04/2020 22:30

Yes!! My kids miss school, theirs friends, their routine, learning (yes, really! Cause apparently I'm a shit teacher 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️)

Bluejuicyapple · 21/04/2020 22:39

100% yes. Children are at minute risk if they have no health conditions to the point where I am comfortable they’ll almost certainly be fine. I have no health conditions so minimal risk to me. My parents have had it and are fine. I think that social distancing from the vulnerable will remain and older people remain in lockdown and some children won’t be able to attend school as they have vulnerable people living with them but for anyone else they Need to get back to school

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2020 22:40

How will the whole grandparents as childcare thing work with these solutions ?

AlandAnna · 21/04/2020 22:42

Yes.

divafever99 · 21/04/2020 22:50

Yes, they are at school now anyway as DH and I both NHS. Still think they should have the summer holidays as normal though.

Jellybean27 · 21/04/2020 23:11

Are you okay? @Piggywaspushed

Proper gunning for OP aren’t you? Weird that you’re sticking around to be a part of such a repetitive thread 🙄

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2020 23:13

Yes, it is a bit .

Not gunning; clarifying. I am fine with OP's investigations.

Jellybean27 · 21/04/2020 23:15

What’s the need though? Make her feel a bit shit and your job is done? Just a bit odd tbh.

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2020 23:25

I apologise in that case . I think we have all just got fed up of the pointless discussion of things outside our control.

I am not the only one who has pointed out the duplication, much less posted links.

Hey ho. Sorry OP.
