Would you send your kids to school in June / July

If there is already a thread on this I will ask for it to be deleted.

Hypothetically if the government say schools can open in June / July and you can send them if you wish or you could wait until September would you send them?

Not taking into account any additional needs other siblings may have or your mental health or needing to work etc.

Not a chance in hell.

Squiz81 · 21/04/2020 18:48

Yes, none of us vulnerable. Life needs to move on.

BriefDisaster · 21/04/2020 19:11

@FrippEnos I don't actively track what the teaching union says apologies I have other things to do. I can only base my opinion on what my teacher relatives tell me.

@frasersmummy I didn't see that am way behind on the news today! Well August it is.

I couldn't see this one on Appus list, which is actually pretty much the question you asked, rather than general threads about school reopening.

Are none of you worried about your elderly parents?
I feel that if my kids go back to school it may lead to infecting mine Sad

Imapotato · 21/04/2020 19:45

My kids won’t be seeing their grandparents until the risk is greatly reduced. Whether or not they are at school doesn’t affect this.

Well we've not seen wither set for 5-6 weeks so pretty impossible to infect them.

PrimalLass · 21/04/2020 19:53

*either

Springcatkin · 21/04/2020 19:56

I will once the hay fever season is over which it hopefully will be by then (ds has asthma which is made much worse by hay fever)

LindainLockdown · 21/04/2020 19:56

Yes, 100%. Wow, so great to actually see a thread with lots of positive responses. Please don't delete Mumsnet, give the other side a chance to have a say instead of the constant doom mongering from the "keep schools shut for as long as possible" crowd.

SunShine682 · 21/04/2020 19:57

Yes I will.

One of mine is already attending full time as he has a EHCP in place.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 21/04/2020 20:09

@MotherOfAllNameChanges my parents aren't elderly. My mum is 51 and stepdad is 47. My mum is an NHS frontline worker anyway and has already had suspected Covid-19 so my DS is the least of her worries!

OxfordMum1983 · 21/04/2020 20:10

Massive yes

louise5754 · 21/04/2020 20:16

I'm not asking when schools will re open though.

If it bothers you so much yes I will ask for it to be deleted.

Chienloup · 21/04/2020 20:16

Yes. I would really like to them to go back on 1st June, if it is looking viable.

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2020 20:17

You are being a bit obtuse there OP!

Appuskidu · 21/04/2020 20:19

There have been many extremely similar (albeit maybe not worded using exactly the same words) questions over the last few weeks.

Daffodil101 · 21/04/2020 20:20

Yes

Kljnmw3459 · 21/04/2020 20:20

I think I would. I'm expecting us to be over the worst by then.

louise5754 · 21/04/2020 20:21

Ok I have not seen any asking whether people would send them in the next couple of months if they had s choice

louise5754 · 21/04/2020 20:22

@Piggywaspushed ?

OP posts:
Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2020 20:23

Right. So you deliberately worded your post so that it was not an exact duplicate of the one user flagged above? Crack on then. Nothing too rowdy or nasty so far even if it is repetitive.

I didn't deliberately word anything. I'm on my own with two kids and I'm dyslexic and autistic and I wanted to see if other people would send their kids to school if they were to open

If I had a choice would probably keep off until September but will be watching situation in France and how it affects their numbers. My niece is in French primary. Also would depend on exactly what was being proposed - if it's schools with 15 per class spread out with decent cleaning and social distancing rules, at risk teachers allowed to stay at home then would be more inclined to send than if it's 30+ per class, may or may not be soap in the toilet, 2 classes might get combined into one like it was before lockdown. Also depends how long will be until a vaccine, just watching the news really. Both children are managing fine with no school and learning at home so no concerns there though one goes into year 10 next year.
