Would you send your kids to school in June / July

If there is already a thread on this I will ask for it to be deleted.

Hypothetically if the government say schools can open in June / July and you can send them if you wish or you could wait until September would you send them?

Not taking into account any additional needs other siblings may have or your mental health or needing to work etc.

Thanks Appu I did chuckle reading this. Beyond a joke now.

OhClover · 21/04/2020 12:42

What will be different in September @WanderingMilly?

Deux · 21/04/2020 12:43

Yes. If transmission rates are lower then the risk is lower. We have to learn how to live with the virus in our daily lives. We deal with risks daily though clearly a number of people cannot properly assess risk.

Anyone who wants to stay locked up till 2022 can do so. We can’t just halt indefinitely society, education and the economy despite what some people think. Furthermore there is no guarantee that there will even be a vaccine and what’ll people do then?

Teenangels · 21/04/2020 12:45

Yes, yes, yes.... if no one in the family needs to be shielded.
The risk is minimal, life is about risk, you are at risk everyday such as travelling in a car, crossing the road, etc.
People that thought austerity was bad have no idea what the financial implications will be if we do not get out of lockdown soon.

Eyewhisker · 21/04/2020 12:47

Yes. The risk to my children from this is negligible and home-school is not working well.

BatmanBaby · 21/04/2020 12:50

Yes - can't wait!

CupOfTeaNonBio · 21/04/2020 13:22

Yes, though as they close for summer at the end of June here I'm not sure if they'll bother opening before August.

REdReDRE · 21/04/2020 13:23

Yes

Foobydoo · 21/04/2020 13:26

No absolutely not until there was proper tracking and tracing.
Children will bring this home to adults and adults will die.
I am no so much concerned that dd would get it. I am concerned that she could be orphaned if I get it.

Pleasedontdrawonyoursister · 21/04/2020 13:27

Absolutely yes I would.

Chocolateconcretepinkcustard · 21/04/2020 13:30

Has anyone actually officially said that children are spreaders of the virus?

I thought the jury was still out on whether they are carriers.

PumpkinP · 21/04/2020 13:32

Yes I will. September is far too long to have off.

OnTheMoors · 21/04/2020 13:36

birdlady 12 confirmed by who?

Letseatgrandma · 21/04/2020 13:36

Has anyone actually officially said that children are spreaders of the virus?

This was from the Guardian this morning

Would you send your kids to school in June / July
LoadsaBlusher · 21/04/2020 13:40

Yes I would
Nobody high risk in this house and still out working too so no different risk wise than kids being at school to adults being at work daily coming in and out of the house .

Hadenoughfornow · 21/04/2020 13:42

www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/21/boy-with-covid-19-did-not-transmit-disease-to-more-than-170-contacts

This was also in the guardian. The answer is they don't yet know if children spread or not.

Although I it reasonable to assume they do until proved otherwise.

iamapixie · 21/04/2020 13:45

Yes.

birdlady12 · 21/04/2020 14:26

@OnTheMoors the education minister

SpicedCamomile · 21/04/2020 14:27

Yes. But I don't think they will.

howrudeforme · 21/04/2020 14:32

I’d worry as we live with my elder dM. Kids are people and, as such, spread germs. That’s loads of people in a confined space.

However, they’ve got to go back to school at some point... who knows.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 21/04/2020 14:35

Yes. None of us are high risk and I cannot work while DS is off, my job is physically impossible to do from home.

louise5754 · 21/04/2020 14:58

@Appuskidu where did I ask when schools will go back?

OP posts:
Snowflakes1122 · 21/04/2020 15:14

I’m very much conflicted. Three in school and one of them is vulnerable. If they all had no health issues, the answer would be yes.

notacooldad · 21/04/2020 15:15

How old are your kids op and what's your thoughts?

FrippEnos · 21/04/2020 15:16

birdlady12

Do you have a link?

Because yesterday Macron was saying that there would be no physical lessons till the summer.
