I normally love a takeaway but I haven't ordered in a month now.
Have you still been ordering ?
And are they safe?

Ordering around three times per week. I will take my chances.

I'm eating a delicious Chinese right now. I've no symptoms. It's my second takeaway of lockdown.

I just don't fancy one at present.

I've had quite a few! I've been at work (teacher) and to the supermarket once a week as I can't get an online slot (and I'd rather leave them for people who need them more than me). I feel fine. Just tired from looking after toddler DD!

We have. We had pizza from our local delivery last week. Washed hands thoroughly as we would do in any event and discarded packaging.

Six pages of “we decant onto plates, throw away the packaging and wash our hands”.

Like goldfish swimming in a bowl. 😂

@MaryBerrystolemyflour

How else would you eat a takeaway though? Do you normally eat it from the containers?

We always put on plates, throw away rubbish, wash hands and when I've been to friends over the years they've done the same... Now I feel like maybe it's weird Confused

We wash our hands before and after eating and preparing food in any case, always have done, always will.

Still eating pizzas out of the boxes and other stuff out of containers if not sharing.

Again, I can see why you would take a different approach if you were vulnerable. But we aren't, so we don't.

No bleaching/washing of shopping or post going on here either.

We are all at home except for our daily walk/run/mountain bike (often in the bush off the backyard) and my once a week shopping trip where social distancing is maintained, again due to having plenty of space.

Different risk profiles for different people/places. I perceive my family's risk as low based on the information I have.

We've had one delivery from the local Chinese takeaway. It's run by a lovely family with a child in DD's class. They didn't deliver before Covid but need sales in order to keep going.

Unfortunately, nowhere is delivering curry near us anymore, otherwise we'd have had at least one of them as well!

Yes we’ve had a weekly chippy/dominoes.

Dominoes are totally contactless. They say the pizzas are cooked at very high temperature then put into boxes hands free. They are only offering a reduced menu. We wipe down the boxes with a disinfectant wipe.

The local chippy delivers your order. When it arrives we put onto our own plates and blast in the microwave.

I've had loads

We had two. First was Dominies because the DC instigated it. I plated it all up - my children normally like pizza out of the box. Second was from one of the local Indian takeaway which I always transfer to plates. The delivery guys stood well back, I helped myself from the box, left tip by the side and that was that. It is easy enough to transfer the food from packaging to plates without touching the outer packaging in the process. Then discard the packaging, wash hands and enjoy the meal.
We haven’t got millions of takeaway services around here and the majority are small independent business so it’s good to support them.
It’s the cost that puts me off though because it’s around £35 -£40 for one meal. When I look at it in the context of weekly food spend I’m not comfortable with it. I am reluctant to spend too much money on a regular basis at the moment. Saying that, ordinarily, we’d have a takeaway once every other week so not extravagant.

Yes we have two a week.

Mainly from local pubs doing a takeaway service. We are rural and want them to stay in business for when we get back to normal. Delicious food to look forward to.

I am at home isolating with 3 people for the past 4 weeks so know that they're not contagious!
^
I was thinking more of the fact that other people are involved in the chain of food supply, not that someone else was cooking it at home^

That's why I wash all ingredients well and cook any food above 60 degrees, to make sure any virus gets removed/killed. Much easier when we prepare our own food. Often healthier too!
