I normally love a takeaway but I haven't ordered in a month now.
Have you still been ordering ?
And are they safe?

We’ve had too. The quality has varied enormously and it’s from the same place, which makes me worry.

We typically have one a week, have still continued this throughout lockdown so far.

We have had one once a week. Gloves on. Food out of boxes. Boxes go straight outside. Floor and sides bleached. Food onto trays and reheated. A lot of faff really.

yes and will order again this week to help keep local restaurants going. Decant food onto plates, dispose of containers wash hands. Give food a quick microwave in case any virus is left, it wont survive cooking.

Wouldnt order salads right now though.

We've had just one, from a trusted Italian restaurant next door to us who are doing a good menu range. We would have had more but I'm watching my weight so cooking more. A lot of the takeaways locally we wouldn't touch at the best of times, let alone now.

We’ve had lots, no ill effects! We do decant everything, bin the packaging and wash our hands.

Yeah we've had takeaways. But I know others that won't have one. But I'm still working full time in a building with other people so I guess I'm not getting as worried about it as I would if I was at home stewing on it I'm also not in the vulnerable group.

yep, twice a week from local chains. all done via deliveroo. If we don't support local business's, they won't be there when this is over.

All food just left outside our flat and we collect when driver gone.

I’m working hard and I’m outside the home anyway. I’m treating myself and family at weekend. I’m no more at risk with a takeaway than I am at work

Can't you see you ARE at more risk. Because you're opening up
ANOTHER opportunity to get it. They are separate exposures to the virus.

Get takeaway or don't -personal decision. But HTG use a modicum of sense to evaluate risk.

I’ve been getting loads of take-away. It’s dangerous. I’m getting fatter every week Grin

I get one every week. Some leave it at the door and some don’t. Doesn’t bother me

No. I'm always concerned about catching Norovirus from takeaways but do usually take the risk but the risk of Covid when living with vulnerable family members just feels too much.

It's actually probably relatively low risk as I don't think you can catch Corona through faecal-oral route (as with Norovirus) so you would probably need to touch the packaging and then rub your eyes or something to catch it!

Regarding Typhoid Mary - typhoid is a disease which is carried by a bacteria (salmonella) Typhoid Mary infected people as she was a cook who infected the food she prepared, probably through her own fecal matter ie going to the toilet and not washing her hands. (and remember hygiene in the 1900’s wasn’t what it is now).

Covid is a virus carried through the respiratory system so it would be much more difficult to catch it through food. If the delivery driver had covid and coughed on the food packaging then, yes, there would be a small risk of then touching the packaging, then your eyes/mouth etc and catching covid. But if you discard all the packaging and then wash your hands straight away the risk would be minimal.

If you can’t stand closer than 2 metres from the person who made the food, why your eat something they had prepared? Seems crazy to me

Yep. Dominos once a week. Due to being home more and waiting times etc I've started cooking more and only have takeaway once a week

Also surely food delivery is essential because erm ... food? Also no one is 'banned ' from going to work. I'm in the office right now, admittedly alone as my equipment still hasnt worked from home. Am keyworker but blue light card not arrived so csnt even jump the queue in Aldi. People are allowed to work if they cannot wfh. They do not have to socially distance. Imagine a road man, or a policeman ,or people in call centres trying to social distance. They cant. And they still go to work and I thi k thats right

I dont like this whole 'essential' business. Yes my wine and colouring book in my trolley is essential to me or I wouldnt buy it. Yes nice fancy yogurts are essential to me. Yes baileys iced coffees are essential to me. So is my takeaway once a week.

Technically nothing is essential bar fruit and veg. Yet no ones advocating banning all chocolate shops, birthday cards or wine shops
