I normally love a takeaway but I haven't ordered in a month now.
Have you still been ordering ?
And are they safe?

In Hong Kong where this is well under control there has been confinement and no schools since end January; loads of families have been getting take-aways throughout. They get delivered to the management desk in the lobby of the building.

We have had one takeaway, OH watched the food being prepared and brought it home, transferred it to plates and binned the packaging, washed his hands etc.

I’ve had about 6! All fine, and it’s just common sense really isn’t it. Wash your hands and don’t lick the box.

Government guidance is that people can keep working if they can social distance.

Have you ever worked in a takeaway or small cafe kitchen? Social distancing will not be possible, they're often tiny premises.

Loads of cafes and takeaways doing collection /delivery round here but no I'm not ordering as I feel they're putting profit before their staff's (and wider society's) safety. Not concerned about fomite transmission but am concerned about the working conditions of others.

Several times, even discovered a new place which does the loveliest biryani.

We're all fine. The delivery drivers are practicing social distancing and then I wipe down everything when it's brought in and wash my hands.

Now I want that biryani 😄

Yes, pizza delivery and takeaway from local restaurant. The virus doesn't survive well on food and you don't breathe in food anyway! Theres no evidence you contract the virus by eating it. Just throw away all the packaging (then wash your hands).

Reading the angry comments makes me even more determined to order takeout.

Yes we have. The majority (except one) is contactless.

We have hand sanitiser at our door. We put the food onto our own plates. We wash our hands. The government guidance says its minimal risk

Going forward I'm not inclined to either; much prefer my homemade food. Family does as well

Of course they do dear. Did you click on this thread JUST to be able to post so smugly? Hmm

We have had several they knock and leave on doorstep keeping there distance
I then take in kitchen decant onto plates and throw containers away and then wash my hands
I guess there is a small risk but I'm
Not washing my shopping either so small risk there too maybe

We had one a couple of weeks ago via Uber eats, he just left it on the step, we removed all packaging and thoroughly washed hands before eating

We have had several. All from trusted local restaurants, whose owners and staff have become friends, and which we really want to survive this. I always have the oven pre-heated, tip the food out into my own serving bowls, heat up and wash my hands throughly before taking anything out of the oven, eating etc.

I've had several.

Great each time.

I can't identify a risk which would be greater than me falling down the stairs, lesser in fact.

Yes, Chinese, Indian and Thai. All delivered to door step and usual precautions taken.

Yes! Once a week it's a lovely bit of normality and something to look forward to

Also if you cook like I do a take away probably less risk

I've had several take aways from different places delivered this month. Even called in an ice cream shop the other day as it was open on our walk (does take away delivery)
And last week we had a burger and drinks on our walk as a burger van was open (also doing take away delivery)
Living life on the edge!

Any extra enjoyment you might get from your favourite takeaway is probably cancelled out by having to remove the packaging with gloves on etc.

Then don't wear gloves. Put the food on plates, bin the packaging and wash your hands.

I'm looking forward it my weekly curry now!

As I'm working in a hospital with covid patients I see the odd takeaway as low risk Grin

I do empty it out of packaging and then wash hands though... Have always done that anyway! Our friend's run a Thai street food restaurant and its too good to go without!

I had Dominoes a couple of weeks ago 🍕

We tried to order a chinese takeaway at the weekend but the place we had in mind wasn’t open. I was pleased as I didn’t really want it. DH did...

Also, dominoes deliver daily to the hospital and our evening meals are delivered by two local hotels!
