Thanks for the link to the Irritating/Irrritable thread whoever that was - kept me entertained when I woke up with weird tummy at 4am this morning...

I was just flipping through my photos to remember what my last holiday was and see if I had any good photos... most of the photos I have are from when we (me and 2DSs 7yo and 3yo) got stuck on the train back from York for four hours! Not really in keeping with the relaxing pics for here Grin

Taddda · 21/04/2020 14:30

@M0reGinPlease that's lovely! I'm going to buy some arts and crafty supplies for my Dds today- trying to think of new things to do with 1&2 year old Dds indoors is becoming a cumbersome! Can't wait until they can safely go for a run around at the park again...Dd1 is really missing nursery, I'm trying my best but they're sleeping in shifts at the moment so I'm feeling a bit zombied!

M0reGinPlease · 21/04/2020 15:43

Feeling slightly frustrated this afternoon. Don't want to go on a political rant but I feel things are being slightly distorted. I've just read a news article which shows the death rate by actual date of death rather than date it was reported, and it's been falling steadily since 8th April. Many, many scientists saying we are now past the peak. I understand the government don't want to make changes too soon and I also understand cautious optimism- they don't want us to relax on social distancing quite yet. But I'm really, really getting fed up of the doom and gloom now.

@M0reGinPlease the figures are all wrong in so many aspects though, I'm also fed up of the doom and gloom- but considering the unaccounted for (in the community, and not tested) the figure is far far higher, I'm preparing for the 'actual' - also the high rise in non-covid related death figures being drip fed into the news.

Doom and gloom aside....

I think we are past the peak but they're being cautious on the relaxing...

foxessocks · 21/04/2020 16:12

Hi everyone! I lost you Smile

Home schooling went well today and I've just made some pastry for a vegetable pie Smile

I'm fed up with the reporting too, I feel lost as to who and what to believe, so I'll stay here for a bit!

Arcadia · 21/04/2020 17:06

@M0reGinPlease I'm completely with you (as usual!).
I'm reading a fair bit of stuff and becoming cynical now and It's harder to trust the government line now. Also the suggestion that BJ's judgement could be clouded by his own scary experience of the illness. There is a whole thread about quiet hospitals and that's what I'm hearing where I am too.
If the lockdown goes on too long it's going to be disastrous for our economy and particularly our children and young people.
Also deaths and harm caused by people too scared to go to hospitals.
A few weeks ago I was terrified but I'm not now.

Arcadia · 21/04/2020 17:08

@Taddda I agree I don't know who to trust and we don't have the right information and even if we did we have no control over the situation!

Spudlet · 21/04/2020 17:22

I agree on the reporting, and I don’t have an awful lot of faith in Boris Johnson and his band of merry men either.

However it has at least been a nice day today, I got some more sewing and cutting out done and had a nice afternoon with DS. Giving myself the evening off making things and a nice glass of wine to celebrate completing my first hat - first thing I’ve sewn that isn’t some form of bag as well!

Keep on, everyone.

Taddda · 21/04/2020 17:44

Congrats on the hat making @Spudlet!! If theres one thing I'd love to be able to do its make clothes- I cross stitched a 'winnie the pooh' cushion for Dd1 (although the attachment sewing was a bit questionable!)..

tobee · 21/04/2020 17:44

@Benji13 I've seen the expression "failed foster" with regards to animals often. But what does it actually mean?

Decided to get my hoover out as part of a proper clean today as opposed to just a daily "spit and polish". Although my hoover is good at picking up dirt, I hate it as it's so heavy! 😩

What a moaner I am! Grin

Arcadia · 21/04/2020 17:49

@tobee I love a good hoover now, am having to start rationing the housework as I quite enjoy it when I get into it! And it's surprisingly good exercise!

Taddda · 21/04/2020 18:11

@Arcadia me too! I bought a shark in January, I'm obsessed with the attachments and 'getting in the corners' of everything- it's also quite heavy (I've probably got it on the wrong setting!) So classing it as 'arms' in the workout...🤗

Benji13 · 21/04/2020 18:27

@tobee haha failed fosterer means you kept them!! You just couldn’t let them go. We have done that twice now. Most people who foster fail with one or two or more!! It’s hard because you get very attached especially if they have had a sad story/ past.
I’m a big advocate for rescue animals ❤️

Hope everyone has had a good or ok day. Sunny again here but chilly. Dh repaired the shed which he is going to repaint a soft green. I worked at my laptop in the sunny bedroom. Had a lovely roast dinner. Later will catch up with Save me too on sky - it’s been a good watch.

Dog walk soon, I walk so fast now as I’m terrified of seeing people, poor dog is used to ambling.

tobee · 21/04/2020 18:29

So it's just me then? SadGrin

I've done it! Well, the worst of it. Which was the stairs. Always hurts my back. And whoever designed the electrics in the house didn't put enough plug sockets in.

I was laughing to myself though. Because I expect a lot of people have been thinking "I wonder when the pubs will re-open?"or the shops back to normal? Or the schools will re-open? And I'm thinking "I wonder when the dump will re-open?" I love a good clear out and then fill the car up and throw out all my crap at the dump! Grin

tobee · 21/04/2020 18:30

@Benji13 now I know!

Callybrid · 21/04/2020 18:41

@tobee - it’s not just you! I love my hoover (Sebo) and I love the post-hoover satisfaction but it’s very heavy so I put off lugging it up and down stairs and don’t get much hoovering done (three floors, high ceilings - there’s a lot of stairs!)

Also not just you on the dump - my Mum’s been pretty sanguine about the whole situation but she did get a little irate the other day talking about how annoyed she was the dump was shut!

Taddda · 21/04/2020 18:44

@tobee 😊 your not alone! I couldn't do without the attachments (have some abdominal issues still after csection)...the shark has been my saviour!

@Benji13 I binge watched 'save me too' (my Dds are on different time zones when it comes to sleeping atm so many times I find myself sitting in the front room/checking/feeding in the early AM)....

No spoilers....its good!

Asgoodasarest · 21/04/2020 18:45

Clinical vaccine trials on humans start this week according to reporting from the briefing today. I’ve no idea how these things work, how long they take or the success rate. But I’m taking it as a positive regardless. Everything gets us closer to the end goal.
Couch to 5k going ok. Dare I say that I may have even enjoyed a little bit of it!

DianneWhatcock · 21/04/2020 19:33

@Asgoodasarest well done re couch to 5k! I love running I swear by it

Great news re the vaccine trials 💉

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 21/04/2020 19:53

That we are all fed up with the lockdown stuff now is the precise reason they didn't start the lockdown as early as people kept on saying that they ought to: they knew there is a limit to how long the British will put up with it, and they were hoping that enough doom and gloom from other countries would keep us in line.

The trouble is starting when other countries (which locked down sooner) start to come out of lockdown and we all think "well if Germany/Norway/etc can ease off a bit now, why can't we?"

Another couple of weeks at least is likely to be needed. (I shall be staying isolated until 1st June at the earliest, myself.) But we can do it, and it'll be worth it if we do.

A vaccine, and a reliable antibody test, seem to me to be the only ways we can be reasonably sure about safety, and they are both well along the pipeline now.

Asgoodasarest · 21/04/2020 20:03

@DianneWhatcock thank you! I’m determined to get as much positive stuff out of the current predicament as I can. My mental health was in a terrible state when this kicked off and I’ve had to work really hard to get to an even keel.
