Yes, my DH took the DCs to see his parents in the garden as well, they asked to see them and that all went OK too. People can just be sensible can't they.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 26/05/2020 11:13

Today I listened to a programme on the World Service about people starting to transport goods around the world on sailing ships. It was lovely!

Orangeblossom78 · 26/05/2020 11:29

World service is fab.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 26/05/2020 12:34

Anything called "The Enquiry" or "The History Hour" or "People Fixing The World" is almost certain to be interesting, and there are other programmes I look out for too. This one was PFTW.

How's everyone doing?

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 27/05/2020 20:29

Not so great!! But I enjoyed a lovely sunny walk today and I am meeting a friend for a walk tomorrow and it's nice to have something to look forward to. I also had some chips for my supper - that was a nice treat.

How is everyone else? This is hard going isn't it?

Arcadia · 27/05/2020 22:54

I'm finding it really hard now. I just want to see family and friends normally and relax with them and give them hugs and kisses. I miss my nephews and nieces. It seems so unnatural and I'm sure that my subconscious mind is feeling abandoned.
I'm pretty fed up of hearing about shops opening, golf, car show rooms etc. but no sign of normal social contact (I obviously understand why to some extent, but it feels so cruel).
Sorry, not positive.

AssangesCat · 28/05/2020 08:52

PMT on lockdown is a downer, isn't it! Think I'm through the worst for this month.

I'm in Scotland and awaiting FM's statement today with baited breath. All being well, tomorrow afternoon we're going to have a socially distanced cup of tea in my Mum and Dad's back garden. Never gladder that we can we walk to their house in about half an hour.

If someone had told me 4 months ago that the big news is that you are permitted to sit in someone else's garden at a distance of 2 metres and have a chat, I would never have believed them.

Other happy news, I had a couple of parcels and letters to post but the nearest post office is on a busy shopping street, where I didn't want to walk with DS, I checked on-line and there is another one that we can reach by linking a couple of much nicer, woodland walks. So we had the loveliest walk through rampant wildflowers, peaceful woodland and round a pond with ducklings and cygnets and a brief bit of wide pavement to a different post office, served by the loveliest lady, got everything posted and returned home the same way with extra playing in the woods for DS.

For extra positivity, I was posting a letter to a child in Rwanda that I sponsor through Action Aid and have never previously got round to writing to, a "chose your own adventure" game that we got just before lockdown started to my BIL and SIL and kids. It takes HOURS to complete, very unlikely we'll play again, we think they'll like it. Also a card and letter to my aunt and uncle. Uncle diagnosed with cancer in the past week. We can't go and I'm not sure what else we can do but write and let them know we are thinking of them both.

Hope everyone has a nice day today.

Orangeblossom78 · 28/05/2020 11:28

I've been very emotional keep crying randomly, however unsure how much is this and how much hormonal as well.

We had a lovely day yesterday, went to the National Trust beach at Studland which is near to Poole. I thought it might be busy or a nightmare of red tape and rules but it actually was OK

Quiet, no queues, parking OK (thought would be tricky) tiles clean and empty, the children dug a huge hole in the sand and swam in the sea. Even found a place selling ice cream. The local shop fine and friendly as usual.

So that was a blessed relief to know we can go back and visit one of my favourite places.

Cam back wondering what the announcement was on schools yesterday but can't seem to see anything on the news about it. Feeling like that is still quite up in the air at the moment.

Another sunny day, might sit in the garden for a bit I have also been reading book about a mother of five children which is funny and sad at the same time. I'm craving normality, familiarity and nostalgia at the moment.

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 28/05/2020 19:35

That sounds like a lovely day.

The sun has been such a blessing hasn't it? I've started reading my favourite children's book too. It's been a comfort.

UpOnDown · 28/05/2020 20:11

I managed to attend an online tutorial, which is a positive.

Orangeblossom78 · 29/05/2020 09:51

I have been looking at old baby photos from a few years ago which has been relaxing and nostalgic.

DH went into work today for the first time. He has to wear a face shield and has temp taken every day.

I hope everyone has a good start to the week Smile

ExpletiveDelighted · 31/05/2020 20:56

I saw a nice thing today. In a more or less empty car park, two police officers met an elderly man in a wheelchair with his carer and stopped to chat. They all started to walk together, the officers helped get the wheelchair over a speed bump and on they all strolled, no 2m distancing, but when it's only a few minutes outside I think that's fine and they all probably benefitted from the interaction.

Orangeblossom78 · 01/06/2020 06:59

Best wishes to all those going back to school today hope it all goes well. Looks like a lovely day out there. Another week to go for us.

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 01/06/2020 20:50

Waving hello to anyone popping by. I loved reading about children going back to school today. It must be so emotional to be a teacher and to get to welcome them back and also to be a parent picking up a much happier child. Fingers crossed for everything going smoothly so more children can go back soon.

Orangeblossom78 · 02/06/2020 16:26

I know that was lovely and reassuring to read. Mine is due to go in next Monday; just waiting to hear which days (it will be two days) It will do him good, get him off the screen a bit perhaps (schooling mainly online)

It is very hot here today in the SW, supposed to cool down a bit tomorrow thankfully. The grass is getting all dry and yellow. Have been going for a walk early before it gets too hot, by myself which is keeping me sane-ish. Hope all others OK Flowers as can be

Orangeblossom78 · 02/06/2020 16:28

I saw a nice wheelchair related thing too! Dad in a wheelchair accompanied by a child (daughter I guess) riding a scooter, along the road which is empty due to the lockdown, have seen them a few times.

We have not got signs to warn cars of pedestrians in the roads and it feels a little like walkers have got more rights over the cars in a strange way! Hopefully it will slow some of them down.

Arcadia · 02/06/2020 16:47

Hi all life is busy now with work etc, just checking in! Feeling in better spirits now I've caught up with my two best friends and my Mum, taking it easy with socialising though as with us all working out of home it at school we want to take it steady (plus not that much time).
Hope everyone is doing okay.

Arcadia · 02/06/2020 16:47

I know what you mean @Orangeblossom78 feels like we've reclaimed the roads a bit!

Orangeblossom78 · 02/06/2020 17:33

Our city is possibly making changes to the roads - Bristol nearby is meant to be pedestrianising it's city centre. Hopefully maybe some good can come of this in terms of walking / cycling perhaps

Just seen another nice thing- babies with mummies all in a circle sitting in the park- very sweet. Mine are older now but it was lovely to see them (feel like one of those grannies-ooh look at the babies)

That sounds lovely @Orangeblossom78 ❤️ I saw a group of (I’m assuming) grannies all out walking together in the park and I thought it was so nice.

ExpletiveDelighted · 02/06/2020 19:54

There's a big green near here and there were lots of families and small groups out picnicing earlier, lovely to see.

A town near here is talking about partial pedestrianisation too, the streets and pavements are really narrow and it's hard to pass people normally without risking getting whacked by a wing mirror let alone with social distancing.
