Anyone had a refund from Ryanair

LetMeOutOfHere · 19/04/2020 14:50

Flight was cancelled and requested a refund which they have said they offer, still not received it. Anyone received their refund from Ryanair?

@TrophyCat did Ryanair email you to let you know the refund was in your bank? Just wondering as the refund will go to our travel agent and they will refund us but I won't know when Ryanair do this unless they email

No, this is the only message I got after I requested the refund - it does mention travel agents(although I booked directly)

I've just received this. I told them in March I didn't want a voucher and I've had 3 emails confining they know I want a refund and will process as soon as possible. Very cheeky! It also has a section about what to do if not booked directly

Nope not yet. Flight should have been end of March

Muffinbutton · 20/04/2020 13:28

I requested a refund via their online form on 20th March. Had two holding emails saying refund will be processed in due course.
Today I recieved a voucher. Arrgghh! I don't want voucher.
I can't get through to them now. Credit card won't claw it back due to Ryanair saying they'd refund. Very frustrating.

Ryanair website says they won't refund until Covid 19 is over. So not committing themselves to anything.

midnightstar66 · 20/04/2020 13:37

@Muffinbutton just had the same thing - furious. So cheeky of them

10storeylovesong · 21/04/2020 09:15

I replied straight back on Facebook messenger asking if they could let me know an average refund time, and confirm that the refund will be as payment method. No reply. My flights were nearly £300. I definitely don't want them as vouchers!!

My trainline refund took a few weeks but was refunded straugght into my bank account

Ereshkigalangcleg · 21/04/2020 11:04

Yes I've just had this too. FFS I've already been in the "queue for a cash refund" as I specifically asked for one!

CodenameVillanelle · 21/04/2020 12:41

I am so frustrated. I think I'm going to just sit on my voucher and wait until flights start moving again. It seems that Ryanair simply don't have the ready cash to refund people and are going to kick the can down the road until they get some cash flow back.

10storeylovesong · 21/04/2020 12:51

I've just had it too. Clicked on the link for cash refund and just got directed to a page about how wonderful the vouchers are.

AndddddHerewegoagain · 21/04/2020 12:57

My friend just set this website up. Hope it helps

Ereshkigalangcleg · 21/04/2020 14:21

Yes that's probably a good point CodenameVillanelle. Annoyed at how poorly they're communicating with people though.

toobusytothink · 21/04/2020 14:24

Just had the “voucher” email too! Bloomin cheek. Making it really hard to just get a refund .....

TheOriginalNutty · 21/04/2020 14:32

Oh no, I'll pass this onto my friend who is waiting for refunds for our cancelled trip to Poland on March 23rd.

I know she's asked specifically for a refund but looks like they are trying to wriggle out of it.

QuitMoaning · 21/04/2020 14:36

Flights booked to Northern Italy on 13th March, returning 16th March. Got notification on 10th March on App that it was cancelled and got the full refund back the same day. This was before the U.K. lockdown though, it was as a result as the no fly advice to Italy.

CremeEggThief · 21/04/2020 14:53

Yep, me too. Not at all surprised though considering it's Ryanair. I actually thought it was too good to be true when they cancelled the flights and offered refunds, tbh!

ShleeAnKree · 21/04/2020 17:20

What does the voucher email say?
I thought they were going to process refinds eventually if thats what you applied for!

Torvi · 21/04/2020 17:23

Same here. I have approached Barclaycard to see if I can get a chargeback.

GeraniumJohnsonsBlue · 21/04/2020 17:28

I think you have to cut them some slack here. You will get it eventually but they will be hugely overwhelmed and running on skeleton staff like everyone else, plus trying to hang on to money for an extra few days wherever they can, to stop their business from going under. But you will get it. Eventually.

They are only offering vouchers or encouraging you to change your dates in the first instance for flights that are not yet cancelled - they are giving you the chance to re-book at a later date.

For all cancelled flights they have to offer a refund and they are doing.

pontiouspilates · 21/04/2020 17:31

I also applied for a refund and received a voucher instead. Voucher valid for 12 months. It says you can apply for a refund but that it won't be processed until we are through the covid period. I'm taking it up with my credit card company.

CodenameVillanelle · 21/04/2020 17:37

For all cancelled flights they have to offer a refund and they are doing.

No, they are NOT offering refunds for cancelled flights. They are pretending to offer a refund then sending a voucher. I take on board what you say about the issues but they are actively refusing to send refunds for any cancelled flights at this point.

BackforGood · 21/04/2020 18:59

That's interesting QuitMoaning
My ds's flight to Spain should have been on 18th - at which point UK weren't on lockdown but Spain were. The FCO said no non-essential travel. RyanAir have told him the flight went ahead so he can't have his money back.
They have said they will 'consider' his application for the return flight (by which time UK was shut down), but he is apparently in a 'queue to be processed'.

Starferry · 21/04/2020 20:07

Curious what happens if you accept the voucher and the flights you rebook end up being cheaper? What happens to the excess? I generally fly once a year!

CodenameVillanelle · 21/04/2020 20:13

You're supposed to get a refund of the difference but who knows

CodenameVillanelle · 21/04/2020 20:13

Sorry the refund will be in voucher not cash!
