In case you've not seen the news mass gatherings in some states trying to get the governess to lift lock down . Not only are these people idiots they are armed idiots and it's only going to be so long before they start using them. I'm scare for the sane people there as it's looking to be like there will be a descent into lawlessness before much longer .

Please tell me I'm being a pessimist.

The thing that always strikes me about America is that despite it being a super rich country, there is very little safety net or protection for workers. Very little maternity leave, hardly any annual leave, god knows what sick pay is available. Work work work. It's such a harsh way to live for a wealthy country. And the foundations therefore are so shakey, I can see a crisis like this completely changing the whole country beyond recognition.

Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio are the states where there are protests against restrictions, encouraged by tweets from Trump.

Michigan and Kentucky have Democratic governors and are states Trump won in the last presidential election. Both governors were recently elected, signalling a swing away from the GOP and toward the Democrats close to the presidential election.

Ohio is another vital state for Trump. Its governor, though a Republican, shut the state down early, even postponing the primary election that was to be held in mid March. Mike DeWine essentially thumbed his nose at the GOP in taking the measures he did. Trump brooks no opposition and punishes those who don't lick his capacious ass all day every day.

In all three states he is trying to fan the flames of zealotry among his followers, challenging the institutions of states' governments (see his comments on who has the power to open up states) and their elected leaders - and very possibly banking on an early reopening of the states causing the premature death of many old and poor African American voters who might vote Democratic in November (in cities like Detroit, Cleveland, Toledo, Cincinnati, and the Ohio rustbelt).

The Democratic governor of Kentucky, normally a red state, and one that voted for Trump in 2016, is particularly hated by Trump and has already survived an attempt at mob rule right after his election.

Wasn’t the American dream over long long ago.

What part of the states are you in mathanxiety?

Civil unrest happens when people are desperate. Will enough people become that desperate for there to be such an uprise?

Will the police and military side with the uprise?
