Just that really.

When do you expect gyms/leisure centres to reopen?

Before schools? After pubs and restaurants?

Our gym is small, and I have seen people there before with streaming head colds coughing and sneezing all over the place. There have always been signs up asking people to spray and wipe the equipment after use, but not everyone does it. Classes are done in a fairly small studio too.

I have actually started to enjoy the flexibility of exercising at home, we had a spin bike, rowing machine and weights anyway and I am doing as much exercise as I was before lockdown. I will miss the social side of the gym, and I feel sorry for gym owners, but wont be rushing to go back.

It has to depend on other things surely?
For instance it wouldn't seem reasonable for cafes and pubs to open if gyms can't open, that might not be the best example but things have to be fair and reasonable
What about other sporting events, if they are allowed to go ahead then presumably the players will have had access to gyms?

Hopefully this means gyms can never go back to the bad old days of people with coughs and colds and leaving sweat on benches etc 👀😷

Maybe it would work if they sold time slots in the gym?
probably be quite expensive though, (I might be prepared to pay £10 an hour🤔) and perhaps you'll be limited/'rationed’ to 4 or 5 hours a week per person?
Plus wipe everything down wear masks whatever it took
might be an incentive for people to open more small gym's because they could be more profitable if they sold time slots

Has the reopening of gyms been confirmed as 4th July? I keep hearing this but I don’t know where it’s come from

southeastdweller · 04/06/2020 09:00

It hasn't been confirmed but according to the Guardian it's a possibility:

Some exercise classes have been identified as super spreading events, unfortunately, so I think this might mean that gyms and leisure centres are closed for the duration.

It all just seems speculation at the moment then...will keep looking out for news!
