A thread for people with CV19 symptoms that have lasted for more than a couple of weeks.

First thread here

(Called 40+ to keep a rough tab on when the first symptoms started being reported on MN).

OP posts:

@user34254356

Me! I had it on occasion earlier on, but it only lasted a day each time - have had a mess of a stomach for about four days now (from about day 30 on). I spoke to my GP and got a prescription, and found that dehydration sachets definitely helped. I was really demoralised because apart from everything else it seems like the sort of thing you get in the acute stage of an illness, not towards the end. But GP said although she couldn't guarantee that I was post-viral, it could just be caused by residual inflammation and not to worry about it.

Moodgie · 17/04/2020 15:56

@user34254356 @mumlurker I have had it for a few days in the morning.
Also, anyone having night sweats? I thought at first it was hormonal, I have had periods of night sweats before, but not sure anymore.

user34254356 · 17/04/2020 15:59

@mumlurker @Moodgie thank you that is reassuring especially what the GP has said. I hope it doesn't last long as everything else seems to be improving and then bam out of the blue the diarrhoea has started.

@Moodgie @user34254356

Mine has mostly been the morning, apart from one day, but I was getting a lot of painful cramps in the evening. I was also so nauseous I thought I'd never eat again! But today has been a vast improvement, fingers crossed, and I've been able to eat small but regular amounts of normal plain-ish food.

TheDrsWife46 · 17/04/2020 16:10

@socialcommentator no Im sure it all IS indeed in my head!!! ive really tried to ramp it all up in my head, you know invest hours and hours on here sometimes from 1,2,3,4 O’clock in the morning. I genuinely really love to work myself into frenzy I do, I post loads of shit on 5 threads of 40 posts to really poke the hornets nest and get everyone else feeling all Of these horrendous feelings themselves by me carefully planting seeds of doubts in all their heads. You know because how else do I know without a test? Or, ORRRR “if i was that bad I’d be in hospital” obviously. Its all in my head. Cant wait for the doctors to reopen so i can get some help with my mental state. Until then Ive got coronavirus.

As you were everybody, ignore the ignoramus.

Moodgie · 17/04/2020 16:12

Spoke to the GP just now, obviously that is his opinion and I’m always reluctant to post what they say so people don’t take it as gospel - he think I’m developing post-viral symptoms and I need to ride it out. I am reluctant to see it as post viral as I feel awful. Has anyone got anything constructive or positive as I’m just so low at the moment.

Moodgie · 17/04/2020 16:13

Good work @TheDrsWife46

godhelpusall · 17/04/2020 16:14

@Moodgie how many days are you? And what are the symptoms? It's so hard to not feel utterly hopeless when it goes on day after day. Have you had any brighter moments in the day? Or over time?

TheWooisStrong · 17/04/2020 16:19

Nice video call with my GP. She told me that as they are learning more about C-19, they are seeing it fall into 3 different types - the minor over in < 7 days one, the critically ill in hospital one, and the moderate 4-5 week illness.
The only cure/treatment is rest, healthy eating, fluids and time.

I've also been told I could have shingles brewing, and it can be caused be a low immune system due to another virus. I've got to pick up a prescription for Acylcovir but only take it if I develop the rash. If you have coldsores you may find they flare up too.

Otherwise I've spent a fairly quiet day in and don't feel too bad.

user34254356 · 17/04/2020 16:28

@mumlurker @moodgie yes i have had the abdominal pains as well today. They just started today so i hope i can ride it out over the weekend without GP support.

Curious how the dehydration sachets helped - did they stop the diarrhoea?

mumlurker · 17/04/2020 16:28

@TheWooisStrong

That's reassuring in a way, although I guess we all know from these threads that we're not alone in being ill for a prolonged period of time. I'm at the end of five weeks now, still telling myself if might be a good few more weeks before I feel normal again, and much longer than that to get back to pre-covid fitness levels. I find that's helping me relax a bit about it being such a slow (and often demoralising) process.

I think if someone had told me it might take five weeks or more at the beginning it would have saved me a lot of stress and worry and disappointment! So hopefully this will be better known soon.

user34254356 · 17/04/2020 16:29

@TheWooisStrong that is encouraging and at least the 4-5 week ones will not move into the critically ill category. I just want assurance that we will not get seriously ill and just need to rest!

mumlurker · 17/04/2020 16:31

@user34254356

I think they helped with the nausea/headaches after the diarrhoea. The GP suggested lack of salt (given that I could hardly eat anything) might be leading to a slightly raised heart rate and dizziness, so the sachets help with that.

Porcupineinwaiting · 17/04/2020 16:45

Psychosomatic? I wish! Grin

The reason I know they are not is that I never would have imagined symptoms like these. I'd have imagined something like a really bad flu, or malaria. A hybrid of things I was familiar with.

Porcupineinwaiting · 17/04/2020 16:46

And they'd have burned out after about 10 days!

Pinkbubbles12 · 17/04/2020 16:48

Thanks all for the reply on not worrying about if this is corona etc and if not getting it on top.
I am worried as a general 36 year old person other than i snoke (well haven't since this all started, im on patches) how much it has knocked me.

On the plus side other than getting tired alot, which i think is down to being lazy and my coughing up gunk i feel better in my self, i have everything crossed for you all too.
Im on week 6

TheDrsWife46 · 17/04/2020 16:49

@porcupineinwaiting I’d have imagined myself an appetite and eaten my way through the snack cupboard instead of dining on diaoralyte 🤪

Moodgie · 17/04/2020 16:50

@godhelpusall I think I am about day 42.
Started with sore throat, next week pressure on chest, over two weeks gradually better. Thought it was a cold. After two weeks started going worse again and the lat 4 weeks have been in bed. Main symptom was breathing issues, like not enough air, cotton wool in throat, things like that. Coming and going in waves. Several times thought I was better and then went down hill again. This week thought I was getting better. Then Weds night has this lumpy thing in throat, couldn’t get rid of it, yesterday I turned into a scratchy throat, today still feel like it isn’t clear down there. Last night had a wave of exhaustion. Still like that today. Haven’t been like that throughout, it was mainly respiratory issues.

TheDrsWife46 · 17/04/2020 16:50

Not to mention I’d have shared a bed with DH and had some human contact.

everythingisginandroses · 17/04/2020 16:51

I think @socialcommentator is a Tory central office bot, best ignored. We're all just imagining weeks of fatigue, fever, chest problems and myriad other symptoms, obvs Hmm Idiot.

GinJeanie · 17/04/2020 16:52

@socialcommentator - congratulations, have my first Biscuit

@TheDrsWife46 - I work in the mental health field and I've said before, I think this minimising is because people are stressed and anxious. Everyone is scared. It's really unfortunate behaviour though - completely unjustified and hurtful.
I really hope you're doing ok and hanging on in there. My DH is 35 days now and starting to feel a lot brighter. I hope this happens for you very soon. My heart goes out to you - this is a incredibly tough journey, mentally and physically Flowers.

Healing vibes all round 🦋

fedupofbed · 17/04/2020 16:55

@Moodgie I'm sorry you're so low and also that I can't help as I feel the same. BUT lots of people do seem to be slowly recovering on this thread though which is heartening.

My GP also suggested I was post viral but like you I'm not sure as still feel too generally ill (not just exhausted) and raised temperature.

I've had slightly dodgy tummy throughout which worsened today but strongly suspect that's because I upped my vit C dose to 5g yesterday?

@TheWooisStrong sorry to hear about the shingles. I was encouraged to hear what your doctor said though re the moderate form out there and long running symptoms. I just have to be patient!

@SchrodingersKitty I'm really sorry that you're going through so much 💐. I hope the operation goes well and that you manage to rest and fully recuperate yourself too.

everythingisginandroses · 17/04/2020 16:56

@GinJeanie - you are right about the minimising and the reasons behind it, and you are a better, kinder poster than me! Thank you. Flowers

Moodgie · 17/04/2020 17:02

@fedupofbed Thank you so much. I just feel so awful at the moment. Sending lots of hugs.
