A thread for people with CV19 symptoms that have lasted for more than a couple of weeks.

First thread here

(Called 40+ to keep a rough tab on when the first symptoms started being reported on MN).

OP posts:
Moodgie · 17/04/2020 12:26

@fedupofbed Yes, definitely worse, I can’t really sleep in the day but I’m going to try and have a nap.

findingschools4myboys · 17/04/2020 12:32

@onlinelinda
Yes it was an antibody test again so it requires blood. It was a test made by a German company called Nadal.

Tangledyarn · 17/04/2020 12:33

@Moodgie Yeah I feel totally exhausted..cant keep my eyes open tired..much worse than the last few weeks, but I think that's quite normal getting over a bad virus. My throat is also really sore and glands are swollen which has been on and off throughout.

WorriesomeDad · 17/04/2020 12:38

Hey folks, so the past 48 hours have been pretty good. Felt nearly normal apart from shortness of breath doing stuff. Mentally this was a big boost, think I needed to know that this was still possible! I was a very fit and active person before all of this.

Had a crappy night with nightmares and waking up heart pounding, and short of breath every 2/3hrs, think most of you know the drill! Really groggy waking up and have felt fuzzy and tired with sore throat so far today and fast heart rate. I was discouraged by this dip and tbh a bit down about the whole state of affairs. I still can’t watch the news and can’t imagine the suffering so many others are going through. Wondering about the long term picture, missing family and friends a lot. Once again though it’s really helped again checking in here.

Trying my best to take the small victories and be positive that the overall trend is slowly getting better. The day when I can ride a bike again (and drink a beer after) will be a very happy one!

@longshot great to hear you’re getting there. To those who are struggling, it will get easier (day 35 here).

fedupofbed · 17/04/2020 12:39

I hope you get some rest @Moodgie

I'm the same and though I'm exhausted sleep isn't great, day or night. I'm just kind of zoned out on the bed.

Moodgie · 17/04/2020 12:45

@fedupofbed @Tangledyarn It is not just tiredness but more like feeling ill exhausted type of thing. Are you similar?

Tangledyarn · 17/04/2020 12:58

@moodgie Yeah I feel terrible.

fedupofbed · 17/04/2020 13:00

@Tangledyarn @Moodgie me too.

Needsomegoodnews · 17/04/2020 13:04

@findingschools4myboys oh I assumed it was a virus test - if antibodies that that’s definitely good news!

mumlurker · 17/04/2020 13:07

Hi all, day 35 here - so heading into week six tomorrow!

I have generally been a bit better the last few days, but have been having a lot of night time palpitations and anxiety, making it hard to sleep, and ongoing gastro issues. But generally feeling slightly more like myself, able to walk outside for 20 mins yesterday. Better night's sleep but today I'm back to the horrible fatigue - my head feels permanently as if I've just stood up and had a rush of blood to the head, unless I lie completely flat. Gah!

Needsomegoodnews · 17/04/2020 13:08

@Moodgie @Tangledyarn @fedupofbed - I feel like I’m not ‘ill’ enough to just lie in bed (thinking of other very occasional illness which might have put me in bed for a day or two) but I can’t really do anything else, or focus on much - just lie like a zombie. I should be watching films and series I’ve missed to make the most of it but just can’t for some reason.

@WorriesomeDad glad you’ve had some good days, mentally uplifting if nothing else!

Egghead68 · 17/04/2020 13:54

@WorriesomeDad and @mumlurker glad you are feeling a bit more normal. Long may it last. I am having my best day in about a week! Only some mild fatigue and mild breathlessness. Fingers crossed this continues for all of us.

TheWooisStrong · 17/04/2020 14:01

So, Covid symptoms better today. But now I have (started last night) a burning/tingling pain under my skin around one eye.
Doctor Google suggests shingles, and that being run down after a viral infection could have caused it.
Got to try and get through to my doctor now.

Egghead68 · 17/04/2020 14:08

@fedupofbed and @Moodgie. I am sorry you are having such a bad day.

@Dorual yes I got a hot-water bottle from Amazon last week and have been living with it on my chest. It is super-helpful.

WorriesomeDad · 17/04/2020 14:12

@findingschools4myboys so that test is a positive for antibodies as opposed to the virus?

@fedupofbed @Tangledyarn @Moodgie @Needsomegoodnews hope it lifts soon for you.

@Egghead68 @TheWooisStrong @mumlurker that’s good to hear symptoms are a bit better, fingers crossed.

findingschools4myboys · 17/04/2020 14:17

@Needsomegoodnews
Exactly! Well as good as it can be when trying to find out why one has been sick for so long.

@WorriesomeDad
It’s an antibody test. The igG line is specific for the antibodies that you get for immunity while igM shoes more of an acute infection and I believe the antibodies for the igM line are a bit more general. If you take an antibody test you basically want the igG lime becoming positive.

Moodgie · 17/04/2020 14:17

Those of you lovely people who feel like they are getting there - has anyone felt extreme fatigue and generally unwell before starting to feel better? I haven’t felt like this throughout and I am just hoping this begins to be more post viral now?

Gunner30 · 17/04/2020 14:28

Hi @moodgie, yes I had that for around a week and found it was really important to just rest. Anytime I tried to do too much it really set me back and felt terrible. I think others have found similar, but this week it has been gradually getting easier to do things around the house and garden.

mumlurker · 17/04/2020 14:49

@Moodgie

I had a few days of intense fatigue followed by another slight dip, but not as bad as before. My breathing has certainly improved since the fatigue period though so that's one good thing!

LetsBeSensible · 17/04/2020 15:28

Hi y’all. Day 31 here and I can feel a sore throat brewing, a bit “chesty” and got breathless when doing some tidying up...
@Tangledyarn I’m definitely better but now starting to say I’ve got PVF and it’s going to be complicated by my CFS, to manage people’s expectations.
I’m sleeping normal hours, doing a bit more housework and “life work” (industry news and financial planning) but still doing very little compared to BC (before covid)
For example I could not contemplate going to the corner shop and back, it would be too much for me.
I’m so thrilled to be “better than I was” but I’m not better.

Moodgie · 17/04/2020 15:28

Thank you @Gunner30 and @Mumlurker
@fedupofbed @Tangledyarn
Start to feel like everything aches as well.

user34254356 · 17/04/2020 15:34

Good afternoon. Glad to hear positive news and people feeling more energetic.

I am on day 31 and feeling ok and less fatigued. I have developed diarrhoea though from yesterday and wondered if anyone else got it so late in the illness? Wondering if the virus has now found a new abode.

user34254356 · 17/04/2020 15:35

@LetsBeSensible same here! i can do a bit more light house work and general shuffling around the house but most definitely could not contemplate venturing out to the shops as yet

SchrodingersKitty · 17/04/2020 15:38

Day 38 I think. I've been feeling pretty ok for a week, except for periodic bouts of coughing which seemed to be my lungs trying to disgorge gunk. Today I have had another 'flash' of temperature and hot face - the first in weeks - and feel a sore throat lurking. I also feel a bit spacey. I really don't think there's any way i could have caught anything new. The paramedics yesterday were masked and gowned, and DH's last visit to hospital was well over a week and a half ago and he had no viral symptoms and we sterilized everything. I haven't been out at all. So I am hopeful that this is just a post-viral thing as so many of you seem to be having. I put it down mainly to the effect of shock yesterday after DH's accident. I felt very shaky in the evening. I probably made it worse by having a very small half glass of white wine. Not a good idea, clearly. I did some work this morning but am now strictly resting, and trying not to stress about the operation on his leg DH is having this afternoon (at least its not a general anaesthetic).

user34254356 · 17/04/2020 15:40

@SchrodingersKitty all the best for the operation. Can't believe the string of bad luck you have had. Wishing you and your DH a speedy recovery
