A thread for people with CV19 symptoms that have lasted for more than a couple of weeks.

First thread here

(Called 40+ to keep a rough tab on when the first symptoms started being reported on MN).

Hello everyone, im on i think 6 weeks in, i honestly can't remember its been so long.
Ive had 3 lots of antibiotics 2 oral for chest and 1 drops for my ear (that is still deaf)
I was really worried something was seriously wrong with me that i can not shift this, but seeing so many going through the same is reassuring.

Is anyone extra worried that of this is NOT coronavirus that if they do actually catch it then your body and lungs are so run down that you just wont be able to cope?
That's my fear as like all of us we arent tested to no.

EMichel102 · 16/04/2020 11:34

@NotAnotherUserNumber @TheDrsWife46 just catching up here. I think I have all the traditional signs of post viral fatigue neurologically - muscle twitching, body “buzzing”, dizziness, headache, insomnia. I think the only thing we can do is rest and hope it gets better?

Countingsheeps · 16/04/2020 11:44

Hi all, I’m getting the gunk feeling too- feels like I constantly need to clear my throat and it’s not going away. I’m really hoping that it means my body is trying to get rid of something.... have had a mild cough throughout that only seems to get worse if I try and do something.

For those having the awful buzzing/ tingling feeling I had this really badly last week- slept about 2 hours max a night as it was pretty much constant. This week it is much reduced and is only happening about 4 times in a 24 hour period lasting between 30 mins and an hour- as long as I eat something it seems to go away. I am waking at least once a night still, but eating a biscuit and I seem to be able to sleep again.

Gunner30 · 16/04/2020 11:45

Hi all, day 34 for me and continuing to improve.

Breathing has got much better and the throat pain has died down again. @pinkoneblueone Been coughing up a lot of green phelgm which my gp said was a sign the body is fighting the infection and has given antibiotics in case it was a secondary baterial infection. @adiposegirl2 I do have some testicle inflammation, but the antibiotics seem to be helping. Earlier last week I had a kidney infection and the doctor thought the two were probably linked. My fatigue is getting better and didn't need to nap yesterday (first time in three weeks), but just going to continue resting and not overdoing it.

I hope everyone starts improving soon, the not knowing is really scary, but hopefully a positive story helps to show that there is light at the end of the tunnel X

TheWooisStrong · 16/04/2020 11:45

I’ve had a productive cough for 2 weeks now. It is gross and improving though, I’m not coughing as much gunk out.
Deep breathing exercises, a hot steamy shower twice and day, and lots of liquid all seem to help.
I’ve got pain between my shoulder blades back today which is scaring me, I haven’t had it for ages and thought I was nearly better.

godhelpusall · 16/04/2020 11:47

@Pinkbubbles12 I am sure it is. There ain't nothing else like it! And for me the smell taste thing was convincing.

onlinelinda · 16/04/2020 11:49

@Needsomegoodnews, I've been wondering that, and my 'infection' keeps popping back up, but in the form of short periods of chills, which then make me lethargic all day. And I was just getting going.

@godhelpusall I was told by a medical student that the virus does and there is a period of shedding. I don't know how long the virus is active in longer cases though, perhaps that isn't yet clear? By the way, I still do that throat clearing thing, and never did previously.

@Tangledyarn I remember in the original threads that your symptoms kept going on and on, and at the time that seemed unusual. Im now beginning to think there are quite a lot of us. You must feel exasperated.

@Pinkbubbles12 I'm not worried about that. I think we will recover. I'm more worried about the lack of exercise, as I have COPD and it is greatly emphasised as a counter to lung deterioration. But I'll just have to catch up later.

I've said this before, but we honestly WILL get better at some stage. And there WILL at some stage be a vaccine, I believe.

TheDrsWife46 · 16/04/2020 11:49

We all seem to feel like its in us. I dont know why the difference in viruses means that this is meant to “go” compared to HiV where you remain “positive” or herpes which obviously lies dormant within your body. Is the notion that it goes based on “how coronaviruses typically behave”?

No way am I googling.

Egghead68 · 16/04/2020 11:51

Glad you got a much better night @TheDrsWife46

TheDrsWife46 · 16/04/2020 11:51

But I want a vaccine and an antibody test nowwwwwwww

Crying like a petulant toddler.

pinkoneblueone · 16/04/2020 11:54

@Pinkbubbles12

Yes I feel the same. I think this is the virus we just have to wait and see

godhelpusall · 16/04/2020 11:55

@TheDrsWife46 I think it's all still guesswork although you'd think China have had enough time to work it out!! My gp seemed to think I wouldn't have the virus still and it wouldn't be contagious but I'm not convinced! Living with the uncertainty and the maybes and the probablys is almost as hard as anything else for me

onlinelinda · 16/04/2020 12:01

Honestly, @TheDrsWife46 I'd kill for an antibody or antigen test.

Needsomegoodnews · 16/04/2020 12:03

Anyone monitoring heart rate? I’ve borrowed my husband’s garmin the past couple of days to see what it said when I was feeling palpitations. The past two days it’s been in the 70s with occasional 80s and 80-110 if I’m up and moving around. Today’s it’s much lower 57-62. Don’t know how accurate it is but it seems quite a drop given that I still have low grade fever. I’m slim, healthy (before this) and active but not an athlete by any stretch so wouldn’t expect a brilliantly low HR.

Lots of you are talking about Oxygen saturation - where did you get oximeters from?

I might be overanalysing - just fed up and looking for evidence of what’s going on to make me feel so rubbish still and trying to monitor ‘improvement’.

onlinelinda · 16/04/2020 12:04

Certainly the thinking last month was that it dies and is then shed.

godhelpusall · 16/04/2020 12:07

@onlinelinda can you explain this? Sorry to sound thick

pinkoneblueone · 16/04/2020 12:07

@onlinelinda

I’m not sure what you mean

WorriesomeDad · 16/04/2020 12:07

@pinkoneblueone @godhelpusall I’m about day 35 and my cough was awful yesterday morning. I slept on my front for a few hours during the night instead of propped up so put it down to that. Still breathless. From quite early on it has just felt like there’s a load of crap in there that needs to come up but won’t shift. After speaking to my GP she said it’s probably still lung inflammation. Really hope it isn’t long term damage.

godhelpusall · 16/04/2020 12:44

How are you doing now @WorriesomeDad ?

Porcupineinwaiting · 16/04/2020 12:46

Hows the eating going @TheDrsWife46? Have you managed something today?

Porcupineinwaiting · 16/04/2020 12:47

@Needsomegoodnews Amazon. Argos also have them.

Moodgie · 16/04/2020 12:59

@godhelpusall This thing stuck in my throat has now turned into a tickly annoying thing and I keep coughing. Haven’t been coughing before.

WorriesomeDad · 16/04/2020 13:02

@godhelpusall. Ok really, cheers for asking. Still getting shortness of breath and heart rate up and down, but at the moment nothing else apart from that. I felt almost normal for about 18 hours and it was absolute bliss. This morning I spent a while just laying in bed, really really enjoying being able to breathe normally.

Feeling for those of you with the continuing fever, dizziness, buzzing, nausea etc. Keep fighting the good fight folks.

WorriesomeDad · 16/04/2020 13:03

@Moodgie I found inhaling steam from a bowl with a few drops of eucalyptus oil yesterday helped with the cough.

Egghead68 · 16/04/2020 13:14

I don’t know how reliable this is but a friend of a friend who is a microbiologist is saying the acute phase lasts up to three months and there are thinking that the virus is like HIV or herpes in that you have it forever. This is only hearsay via an intermediary though so please don’t take it as gospel.
