I'm not into police bashing, but there are just too many incidents happening where they are not covering themselves in glory with these new powers . I guess that is a risk you take when legislation is rushed through with no time to debate or digest it properly.
If I want to be in my garden (front or back) with my family then I will do so. There is no legislation against it
Similarly, if I am in the supermarket I will buy whatever I wish of whatever they are selling. The legislation makes no mention of that either.
My late FIL was a police officer for around 30 years. If he were around today he would be astonished at how some police are tackling this.
To be fair, this has been rushed through and dropped on police as well. Most of them are trying to do the job sensibly, but unfortunately it will be the incidents or press conferences where massive howlers have been dropped (you can't be in your garden, we will be checking your supermarket trolley, stop buying Easter eggs etc.) that will, rightly, make news headlines.
