@womaninatightspot
You are right, I was trying to do a largish shop in the co op. They would only let me buy 2 bottles of wine. The shelves were heaving with stock. What possible reason is there? It would only make a person go down more often ( not me of course!)

joydivisionovengloves71 · 10/04/2020 13:20

We're going to do our big shop later. I'll be buying myself an Easter egg and anyone who comments will be in serious trouble !!

Mlou32 · 10/04/2020 13:27

Why do people feel the need to film altercations and post them on social media?

chomalungma · 10/04/2020 13:35

Why do people feel the need to film altercations and post them on social media

Why do you think some people need to do that?

Have you seen some of the US ones - where the police interact with members of the public

Some people simply won't be believed by other people when they say what the police have done. The police will deny it or twist it.

If you have video evidence, it helps.

Topseyt · 10/04/2020 13:39

Why do people feel the need to film altercations and post them on social media?

Well, it proves that the altercation did actually take place for a start, even if it may not be the entire story.

StrangeLookingParasite · 10/04/2020 13:42

Why do people feel the need to film altercations and post them on social media?

Because in this case, no-one would believe someone could be so stupid without documentary evidence.

PicsInRed · 10/04/2020 13:46

Ooooooh, it's all a bit tricky to deal with my abusive, threatening ex husband and all the other domestic abusers and rapists out there but they've got time for this bullshit?

They can fuck right off with this shit.

womaninatightspot · 10/04/2020 13:46

I went to the co op yesterday and got four but I had to buy 2 different kinds of wine. They too had loads of stock @NoMorePoliticsPlease

It's crazy how as a nation we're being propped up by daily wine (mass generalistion obviously but very prevalent in my social circle and mumsnet)
I think this particular altercation was filmed by someone who's rights were being trampled by an over enthusiastic officer :) Quite right too as otherwise it's likely they would have been disbelieved.

Can you imagine the disbelief if an AIBU had cropped up about a police officer telling you off for being in the garden

VegetableMunge · 10/04/2020 13:52

Why do people feel the need to film altercations and post them on social media?

Perhaps because they realise the police are acting unlawfully and would like that to be tackled. What do we think would've happened if they hadn't filmed this?

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/04/2020 13:53

It must be nice to have had such overwhelmingly positive experiences with the police and other authority figures that you can't possibly imagine why anyone would think to film an interaction with them.

LoveIsLovely · 10/04/2020 14:05

"Why do people feel the need to film altercations and post them on social media?"

Well thank God they do or they would never be held to account, at least not where black, Asian or poor people are concerned.

Taddda · 10/04/2020 14:06

Why do people feel the need to film altercations and post them on social media

Evidence.

Why are there so many 'Police, Camera, Action' shows on tv....?

You reap what you sow.

Queeftastic · 10/04/2020 14:43

Video = not just evidence, but so easily uploaded to social media that the ability to video is a deterrent to those who would attempt to abuse their position.

In this case, who knows whether it was well-meaning or otherwise. Sad that the householder had to ask her to step back as well. The officer was def beyond her powers and the man did the absolute right thing in remaining calm and asking her politely to clarify what she was attempting to enforce.

HeIenaDove · 10/04/2020 14:55

People film it so others cant accuse them of lying or peddling fake news............oh wait i have a thread on here where i posted a video of a chief constables ACTUAL STATEMENT and still got told it was fake.

The gaslighting is off the scale.

HeIenaDove · 10/04/2020 15:00

"Why do they need to stick "we will continue our work to support the NHS at the end"

Emotional blackmail to keep ppl quiet?

This

HeIenaDove · 10/04/2020 15:16

“I saw you coming back from the shop with two cans of pop” comment. Has she been following him? Is he known to her? He’s off out again to Aldi, is he perhaps pushing the guidelines to the limit and she knows it and it is pissing her off?"

He was getting gas and electric for his key meter. These are only available at a Pay Point or Pay Zone. Not at supermarkets so i have to do the same.

Im beginning to smell a little class prejudice.

Taddda · 10/04/2020 15:32

Why do they need to stick "we will continue our work to support the NHS at the end

Maybe they want a clap too....

LilacTree1 · 10/04/2020 15:44

Gosh, I’m relieved I started this thread. The gaslighting etc....I thought it was just me thinking that.

Parks taping off benches

Woe betide anyone who dares to need to sit down while walking

Wonder if they've done an equality assessment on that one?

ChristmasCarcass · 10/04/2020 16:35

They’ve done that in our park too (same council), huge outcry from old and disabled residents.

Also had patrols out this morning harassing families with toddlers for “playing ballgames” (I understand football matches are banned, but how is a two year old chasing a little ball on some grass a problem?). I stopped running to have a drink of water, and was told off for loitering (they knew I was running, they watched me stop and get the water out of my bag). People doing exercise routines and yoga were moved on. Completely outrageous. There is no law that you can only run or walk for exercise, and no minimum speed you have to be moving at. We’re in a deprived part of London, most people will not have gardens or houses large enough to exercise in. The park is massive, and was pretty empty. There were literally ten of them roaming in pairs around looking for people to harass.

PicsInRed · 10/04/2020 16:52

They're going to lose the law abiding, tax paying middle, the traditional majority, mass supporters of the police over this. They're losing the middle.

mrsradley · 10/04/2020 16:56

I know that area - it is very very diverse and there are streets where people congregate en masse , it's also extremely intimidating if you're a woman alone on those streets . Not making excuses for police peddling mis information but I'd suggest that area of Eastwood will be being patrolled for a reason.

LilacTree1 · 10/04/2020 17:09

Christmas

When my doctor asks me why I stopped running, this is the answer.
