Rosesofeyam I hope you dont mind me asking, what antibiotics are you on? Im on Clarthrymicin 500mg twice a day, I hope I feel o.k after them.

NordSjoen The shoulder blade pain sounds like Pleurisy.
Keep an eye on it.
Im on antibiotics now, as they can't tell if its Pneumonia or Pleurisy.

Ernieshere · 15/04/2020 22:21

gingerbreadslice The acid reflux can be from the Antibiotics.

Some say "Clinicians and dietitians typically say thatprobiotics shouldbe taken until at least a week or twoafterthe course ofantibioticsis completed, since medicines continue to affect the gut microbiotaafterthey're stopped"

But some disagree.

sweetkitty · 15/04/2020 22:24

@SugarSugarShimmy thanks usually I would just be oh it’s just the start of a cold, I’m not one to be like oh it must be covid. No one else I know has it, were in Scotland numbers are low. Only been out to supermarket once a week and dog walk daily. I’ll see if the cough hangs around tomorrow.

Callimanco · 15/04/2020 23:09

Ernieshere I had a very mild dose of something mid March which if it was covid I was exceptionally lucky with - only in bed 1 day, under the weather for a week or so. Diarrhea, sore throat, dizziness, back ache, mild cough, feeling like having inhaled powder. Full feeling in left flank; one evening of central chest discomfort. No treatment and no antibiotics. But the tendency to heartburn lasted a good 2-3 further weeks and really only stopped a week ago. Very strange.

Msloverlover · 16/04/2020 06:43

@Notpanickingjustyet I’d definitely call your doctor to see if you can get a video call consultation.
@TheDrsWife46 I’m so sorry your feeling rubbish again. What day are you on now? My mum is around 4 weeks in and seems to have taken a turn. Luckily no cough or breathing symptoms. Hers (if it is cv) seems to have mainly affected her stomach. Same fever/ache/exhaustion though.

Msloverlover · 16/04/2020 06:59

Just had THE BEST NIGHT’S sleep. Don’t seem to be breathless before sleep atm so able to drop off far quicker.

Thought it might be useful just to detail my symptoms so far for those that were wondering if you have it (particularly in the early days)

Pre days - I had a chest discomfort that I at first only noticed at night and I assumed was anxiety. It started becoming more consistent and I then wondered if it was hay fever.

Day 1 - pain in chest more noticeable and get a pain in back in same time like I had pulled something. Google symptoms and it says that if you have any kind of chest pain, particularly if it moves to back, you should call doc. Doctor was brilliant. Did video consult and said she suspected cv. Sent me to my local cv hub to get vitals done. Very quick easy process and very reassuring. They said it was possibly cv and to treat as if it was. Vitals all fine. Told me to come back if worried/breathless etc.

Day 2-6- woke up feeling like I had a huge hangover. Fluey symptoms came and went throughout day. Pain in chest more pronounced. Occasionally breathless. Vertigo type feeling. Very hard to sleep due to discomfort when breathing. Chills (especially first two days) and feverish feeling but never have a temp (normal for me). Weird aches coming and going all around body but mainly back. Appetite fine. VERY thirsty. Tingly, buzzy feeling in whole body.

Day 7 - TERRIBLE SLEEP. aches seem to be going. Chest not as painful but feels very scratchy - like a sore throat but lower down. Can potter around making food etc but get exhausted if so too much. Am able to play with dd a little but need to lie down after.

Day 8 - has a great nights sleep (yayyyy). hangover feeling still there. Body still feels buzzy. Gross taste in mouth (still have smell and taste)

Things that help -
taking paracetamol regularly like it was an antibiotic, not waiting to feel ill. It really is miraculous stuff and if I keep on top of it I feel almost normal (apart from exhaustion)
Hot drinks feel so soothing
Lots of water. I’m loving sparkling water and elderflower presse.
Podcasts and easy ready books for when I can’t sleep
I’ve got an oximeter coming this weekend which I’m hoping I won’t need

mymoonmyman2020 · 16/04/2020 07:54

Glad you’re feeling better @Msloverlover :)

Can I ask where you got your oximeter from?

I’m day 26ish had a big dip last few days - am ringing GP for advice today if I speak to anyone I’ll report back! (My persistent symptom is breathlessness but I keep thinking it could just be anxiety Confused)

kevintheorangecarrot · 16/04/2020 08:15

@mymoonmyman2020 I have an oximeter coming today. I got it from Amazon UK. Cost £30 though! But it will put my mind at ease at least... well I hope it does. X

Msloverlover · 16/04/2020 08:36

@mymoonmyman2020 Ordered mine from eBay for £20.

Msloverlover · 16/04/2020 08:38

@mymoonmyman2020 not counting my chickens after reading enough of the posts on here! But just such a relief to have a proper sleep. I hope this is your final ‘wave’. Have you gone up and down much?

Lightsabre · 16/04/2020 09:10

Morning all, feeling a bit miserable today as I feel like I'm breathing through cotton wool - Day 20 now. Weak and shaky still too despite forcing myself to eat and drink. I wish I was having a few more of the better days then I'd think I'd turned a corner. Have started doing the Queens Hospital breathing exercises and am awaiting a GP call back but I don't feel the GP will be able to do anything. Ideally I'd like a chest X-ray and blood test.

Porcupineinwaiting · 16/04/2020 09:16

@Lightsabre dont be afraid to push the gp a bit for what you feel you need. The one good thing about being part of this club is that you dont have to worry about going to hospital for tests in case you catch coronavirus.

BreathlessCommotion · 16/04/2020 09:50

I did too much yesterday. I ended up exhausted and wheezy. Dd is 7 and has ASD and found it hard to understand that although I'm out of isolation, I'm not back to full fitness.

I'm quite frustrated. I miss going outside, I miss running. And the house is a disgusting pit after me being put of action for a week.

Notpanickingjustyet · 16/04/2020 10:21

@BreathlessCommotion I'm sorry that Dd7 finds it tricky to understand. My Dd is 7 and was quite difficult yesterday. It was like having a teenager which I found quite tiring and more upsetting than I would do. I felt I couldn't nip it in the bud.
Also ironing everywhere. Just started tackling it today but feel hungover and a bit dizzy.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone told their children what they have? I've just said I'm poorly.

Notpanickingjustyet · 16/04/2020 10:21

@BreathlessCommotion didn't mean Dd7! 🤪

MillStone · 16/04/2020 10:27

@Lightsabre

Your comment about breathing through cotton wool is exactly what I am experiencing at around the same timeline as you. Additionally I have back pain in several places.

I called my GP yesterday morning and was advised that I seem to be on the road out. I was able to provide them with my oxygen and temp and explained about the breathing troubles.

Yesterday afternoon I started feeling groggy again, with ear ache, slight sore throat and swollen glands. Last night was the first time I've had a night sweat in many days. It was very light but noticeable.

Today my ear hurts, I feel hot and I have swollen glands. My temp is only 37.3 but I think that's high for me.

I feel the same as you in that without the GP actually seeing me and testing my chest, ears, bloods etc, there's no point going. It's so frustrating.

Crayfishforyou · 16/04/2020 10:31

Day 17ish
I am in general much stronger than last week despite setbacks.

Yesterday I had almost no symptoms. Last night I was woken up with the racing heart. This morning I'm horribly dizzy again.
I do feel stronger than I was though. I managed to cook two meals, and put a load of washing on, and change the beds. Progress!
I also sat and watched telly in the evening.
Maybe I over did it.
I have found eating a problem. I'm not hungry. I can eat but I'm not bothered. And I've found if I eat to fill my stomach I feel terribly washed out and have to lie down for half an hour or so.
I do also have a nebuliser that I am putting a couple of drops of iodine in. And my mild sore throat and sinus headaches have gone in the last couple of days.
They may have gone anyway without the iodine, who knows with this virus?

Crayfishforyou · 16/04/2020 10:35

@Notpanickingjustyet
I've told my dd who's 7. I think she has had it too very very mildly. I've told her it's probably THE virus and we will probably be fine, it will just take a while. And in the mean time we will stay at home so we don't give it to somebody who wouldn't get well with it.

Lightsabre · 16/04/2020 10:46

@MillStone, we seem to be experiencing this virus in the same way. I spoke to my GP this morning and he said (he's had it himself and took 3 weeks to recover) recovery can be 6 weeks plus but most people get back to normal. He's prescribed amoxicillin as a precaution antibiotic as I am developing a thick mucus in my throat that I can't bring up and am swallowing. He has issued a sick note for work up until the 27th April which says pneumonia. I did the Queens Hospital breathing exercise this morning and it seemed to help a bit. I'm sitting in the garden in the sun now but I usually become dizzy so will probably go back to bed (again!). He advised me to still self isolate ...

Lightsabre · 16/04/2020 10:47

Any further news on the antigen tests? I'm too scared to put any CV news on yet.

TheSheepofWallSt · 16/04/2020 11:31

Hello... bit late to the party but I think I may have Covid (thought I had it a month ago but now I see I probably didn’t)... wonder if anyone else has had a very mild form, and without fever?

Symptoms are:

  • tickly (very upper chest) cough- coughing a couple of times an hour
  • felt breathless on waking this morning; resolved when lying on my side
  • flashes when I feel hot but temp is normal
  • feel cold pretty much all the rest of the time
  • no appetite/ feel mildly nauseated
  • slightly upset stomach
  • headache/ neck ache- not severe (and tbh have awful tension most of the time anyway)
  • feel a bit spaced out/ dizzy but only momentarily

Am well enough that am still WFH, and looking after DS (he’s 3 and I’m a LP so no choice), but I don’t feel correct.
This would be day 3 of these symptoms if it is C19....

Anyone had a similar experience? And if so, any notes on how this panned out for you in terms of severity would be welcome.

DS is asthmatic (well controlled at the moment) and has had a chest cough (that I assumed was hay fever related...) for around a week, but to be honest, if one of us has it, we both will. No way to social distance as still cosleeping and he’s a Velcro kid. No family to have him (all shielding due to severe asthma).

TheDrsWife46 · 16/04/2020 11:45

@TheSheepofWallSt

All your symptoms are akin to ours but asking us how it pans out might scare you. Some of us have prolonged symptoms that might scare you if you’re on day 3. I’d suggest reading the other lungs threads especially 5/6 and you’ll see peoples earlier time lines. Xx

Msloverlover · 16/04/2020 12:02

@TheSheepofWallSt I’m on day 8 and so far fairly mild. I say mild - still feel like I’ve been run over by a train but have still been able to cook at least one meal a day, do a wash etc. Will then generally have to lie down after. There is a big range of cases but the one thing in common is that when you know you’ve got it, you know. I was the same, thought I might have had it before, but day 2 of this, I knew i hadn’t.

TheSheepofWallSt · 16/04/2020 12:02

@TheDrsWife46

Thanks very much... I guess I’m just asking if a mild onset is in any way indicative of progression? Useless asking really, because what will be, will be...

Msloverlover · 16/04/2020 12:07

One thing I didn’t say earlier was that I do yoga and instead of doing the queens hospital exercises, I’ve been doing yogic breathing. Basically inhaling slowly through nose and almost imagining filling up the lungs from the bottom up. I then hold it for a beat and then exhale really slowly imagining I am emptying the lungs from the top down. Really using the diaphragm rather than the throat to control the breath. I do think about 5-10 times, 2-3 days. So far I have avoided a cough but have no idea if this why but it makes me feel as if I am working all parts of the lungs.

Oh also, keeping up with hay fever meds (anti histamine and beconase) really helps me.
