@godhelpusall @Moodgie - he is slightly further ahead than me - probably about D37 - he has had it for a few days.

On a separate note I went digging to see if there were any findings reported yet from the ZOE covid symptom tracker. There is a webinar on symptoms at: covid.joinzoe.com/post/covid-research-update-uk. They mention chest pain as a significant additional symptom that people are reporting.

godhelpusall · 13/04/2020 19:23

@Monty6 has he any other symptoms now?

Porcupineinwaiting · 13/04/2020 19:41

@Moodgie good article.

If it wasnt for threads like this and articles like that I'd think that there was something very wrong with me because I cant just throw this thing off.

Moodgie · 13/04/2020 19:48

@Porcupineinwaiting
Yes, I am the same. What day are you on and how are you feeling today?

fedupofbed · 13/04/2020 19:51

Hi, just checking in today and thanks as always for sharing information and stories.

So much of what you say really resonates. Like others here I'm running completely on empty mentally now. I'm just dreading tonight. Day 41 and still in bed for much of the day. The most pronounced symptoms at the moment are the complete exhaustion, and lightheadedness and nausea when I try and move. Still slightly raised temperature and weirdly the breathlessness comes and goes intermittently.

Got checked out again at my local hub and they don't know what to do with me. My blood pressure is quite low (which would explain some of my symptoms) - anyone else have that? I drink so many fluids though and very careful with my salt so don't understand why.

Am also going to have more bloods taken tomorrow. GP thinks that as my temperature is only a little raised now it could well be post viral.

I've also been prescribed a low dose of sertraline to help with my mental health. I feel bad sharing all this with you as it's so negative but after 6 weeks in bed I'm really struggling. I need to try and stay positive but it's really hard.

godhelpusall · 13/04/2020 19:56

Oh gosh @fedupofbed - that sounds awful. Can you see any improvements over time? I increased my antidepressant after the first week of this as I was struggling with anxiety. I'm glad I did as it's been tough and it helps with some of the anxiety symptoms. Good news about the blood tests, does it help that you have been seen?

kevintheorangecarrot · 13/04/2020 20:01

Breathless is back :( not as bad but I have a feeling it's going to get worse! Can't believe this is happening AGAIN.

onlinelinda · 13/04/2020 20:01

That’s interesting about the adrenaline, @shrodingerkitty. Are there ways round it, such as getting your students to share some of the burden?

@Moodgie, thank you for posting the link. I was able to access the article without giving New York Times my name but only by looking for it directly on the internet.

I’m at the end of day 30, and I’m still well. I have lazed around, cooked dinner, then been for decent 30 minutes active exercise (Fitbit) , including uphill. It was harder work than it should be, but not disastrous.

In less positive news, I have eaten my own weight in calories, which isn’t really like me, and I need to get a grip. The half stone i lost is now back.

kevintheorangecarrot · 13/04/2020 20:02

My feverish feeling I was having yesterday and the day before that has gone however. I've never experienced that before (only had 1 night of fever and sweats). Is that my body indicating there's something going on?

pinkoneblueone · 13/04/2020 20:10

My cold hands and feet are back and driving me crazy. I’ve felt rubbish today because I have had flare ups of breathlessness and I put it down to hay fever and allergies so have used my inhaler a lot it has helped but made me feel rubbish in the process. I’m mid 30s lost track of the actual date now.

fedupofbed · 13/04/2020 20:15

Thank you @godhelpusall . Like others I've had a few times when I thought I was coming through it and a few relapses. I felt more ill earlier on when I had a proper fever but I guess it's all plateaued out over the last 2 weeks. I think a good night sleep would help, and hope the sertraline will aid this - new for me.

This is my third round of bloods (!) and reassuring that so far nothing major has shown up. Just having a bad day today.

Final point of interest - the doctor I saw said that I was the fifth person he'd seen today with long running symptoms that are taking a while to clear, though I was the dubious winner of being the longest!

I hope you and your family are feeling better soon too.

fedupofbed · 13/04/2020 20:20

@onlinelinda so pleased you're continuing to recover.

@kevintheorangecarrot I have a similar pattern - I seem to alternate between the raised temperature and the breathlessness - very rarely at the same time.

Monty6 · 13/04/2020 20:28

@godhelpusall, he is generally better than i am - he has been gardening and getting on with other tasks most days. The fatigue still hits him some days. He had a raised temperature and headache again yesterday and is still struggling to focus on work. Interstingly even my kids who seemed to get away with mild symptoms had raised temperatures again this week almost 4 weeks from initial symptoms. Just goes to show that even mild cases can have extended or returning symptoms.

Moodgie · 13/04/2020 20:30

@kevintheorangecarrot @fedupofbed @pinkoneblueone
I don’t think I have had fever at all (I don’t have a thermometer that works but I think I’d be able to tell). My breathing issues have been fluctuating though.

godhelpusall · 13/04/2020 20:35

@Monty6 yes that's so true. It just keeps coming back, but at least there are others out there who are experiencing the same. My kids are also much better after 3/4 weeks but have off days of temperature and off their food

mymoonmyman2020 · 13/04/2020 20:49

Day 21 here and breathlessness is back :(

Can barely believe it after nearly a week feeling ok.

Carried some washing upstairs which seems to have been the culprit...

fedupofbed · 13/04/2020 20:53

@Moodgie thank you for the article, really interesting.

I think it all affects us a bit differently doesn't it? I'm sorry you've been having breathing issues for such a long time. Do you think it's getting better now? Mine fluctuates and is okay at the moment. It's quite dry and I find a ventolin inhaler and the Queens breathing exercises have both helped.

Porcupineinwaiting · 13/04/2020 21:05

@Moodgie I'm on day 26. And I am getting steadily better - except that I still have to spend at least half the day resting in bed and the other half sitting on the sofa. On some days I can manage I short job (think put the washing out). But today not even that.

Moodgie · 13/04/2020 21:05

@fedupofbed
Credit for the article is to @Joeaj23, I only reposted the link.

I’m not too bad at this given moment but it fluctuates during the day.
I have the inhaler but I can’t see it doing much difference.
I have also been doing the Queens exercises.
I really don’t know if it is getting better, I was better at times in the last three weeks only for it to dip again after an improvement.

WorriesomeDad · 13/04/2020 21:05

My response to the NY Times article Is definitely one of relief. Perhaps it isn’t as unusual as we thought to still be experiencing what we are after so long.

This has without a doubt been the scariest and most stressful thing that I have ever had to go through. I think the main reason for this is the lack of support network or any detailed information on self-managing this illness and the actual reality of recovery. I am so glad that information is finally beginning to trickle out there thanks to articles like this one.

The only way I found this thread was because my sister sent it to me after I told her about my symptoms. I’ve never really given Internet forums the time of day but looking back now from 30+ days in I honestly don’t know what I would have done without it. A heartfelt Thankyou to everyone here.

@longshot it would be an amazing thing to try and help the many many people who are either in, or will inevitably find themselves in the same situation as us.

Moodgie · 13/04/2020 21:07

@Porcupineinwaiting

Very similar - I am in bed all day really, apart from going and getting something out of the fridge or a drink. I had days when I washed up or cooked even thinking it’s getting better only for it to dip again.

kevintheorangecarrot · 13/04/2020 21:08

@mymoonmyman2020 exactly the same with me. Just started to get breathless in the evening. Noticed I couldn't take a deep breath or do a full yawn without really trying! Sad

kevintheorangecarrot · 13/04/2020 21:10

@Moodgie & @fedupofbed such a pain isn't it? It seems like a yo-yo! One min were bad, then fine, then back to square one again and wondering whether it is going to be ten times worse than before. That's my worry big time and this breathless feeling is worrying I still remember that day when I really struggled for air it was terrifying my husband thought I was being paranoid!

Moodgie · 13/04/2020 21:22

@kevintheorangecarrot
I know exactly what you are talking about. We are in the same rollercoaster boat.

WorriesomeDad · 13/04/2020 21:37

@fedupofbed don’t feel bad about sharing. This thing has taken most of us to some pretty dark places. Really hope the setraline means you get a good nights sleep.
