@SchrodingersKitty

Glad to hear you're feeling better. I can relate to what you say about adrenaline - to be honest, I think I've become hyper aware of every twinge in my body. At time I feel like I've totally lost confidence in the idea that I'm going to get better. But there is hope! Can I ask, did you just wake up one day feeling different, or was it a gradual thing? When do you think you turned a corner?

pinkoneblueone · 13/04/2020 14:26

I think that’s the contagious part of the virus you are smelling. We have noticed it 8/10 times each. We have all (apart from my daughter) has breathlessness @Moodgie

Wrybread · 13/04/2020 14:27

So I've checked and it's not post viral fatigue, as you don't have a temperature with that.

So looks like our bodies are still fighting something off

godhelpusall · 13/04/2020 14:30

@pinkoneblueone does it smell/ taste of menthol?

godhelpusall · 13/04/2020 14:31

I had a foul taste before actually which I thought was the infection. This has come after that.

pinkoneblueone · 13/04/2020 14:32

It smells odd and clinical almost

pinkoneblueone · 13/04/2020 14:33

The smell has repeated several time’s during us having the virus

godhelpusall · 13/04/2020 14:36

@pinkoneblueone interesting. Anyone else got a weird taste/ smell thing

Moodgie · 13/04/2020 14:37

@pinkoneblueone
I haven’t got any other symptoms apart from breathlessness really. So up and down with it. Once it gets better, I can expect it will not last. I hope there will be a moment when it comes back to normal and just stays there!
@WorriesomeDad How are you with it at the moment?
@longshot Has your breathing returned to normal overnight?

TheDrsWife46 · 13/04/2020 14:51

@SchrodingersKitty glad to hear your feeling on the up! How is DH doing? No new episodes of confusion I hope. Assume you’ve had no updates for his treatment due to Easter? X

Lightsabre · 13/04/2020 14:53

@eyebrowsofinstagram, can you buy an oximeter on EBay? They're invaluable for measuring your oxygen saturation levels. You might be able to phone a local pharmacy who can deliver to you.

SchrodingersKitty · 13/04/2020 14:57

@TheDrsWife46: thanks so much for asking. DH is already much improved from the steroids. We didn't hear back from the consultants on Thursday - I assume because the results were not all in. We won't hear until Tuesday at the earliest, I don't think. It's actually been nice not having to wait on tenterhooks for the phone to ring. He has not had any more confusion and the headaches have gone completely as of today. The steroids are making it harder for him to sleep, and he's getting some side effects, but no sign of any infection, (one of the big worries on steroids) and they seem to be having an effect on the lesion(s) already.

We are very much taking it one day at a time, which is all we can do really. I'm always so grateful for the fact that one's body / brain can't bear too much reality - I sleep very well in such situations, and am able mostly not to look too far ahead.

godhelpusall I was reading a lot of scary stuff on here about people supposedly better later testing positive again. But when I dig into it it was nowhere near as scary as I’d read, people testing positive again were asymptomatic at the time. There’s a lot of scaremongering on here and I’ve had to try and shut myself off from it because a lot is untrue or exaggerated.

I wish we knew more about the long term affects/ immunity etc but I have to accept we don’t, it’s early days, and put it out of my mind.

godhelpusall · 13/04/2020 15:04

I read something the other day that by now we should have enough antibodies. I'm clinging on to that

SchrodingersKitty · 13/04/2020 15:21

One of my neighbours just contacted me because her 20-something son has it on his 29th day and still breathless. I'm the only person she knows who has had similar symptoms. So I gave her our collective, hard-won advice about managing he breathlessness. It still strikes me as so strange that there are so many people with these symptoms and that the NHS advice about the 'key' symptoms still hasn't changed.

longshot · 13/04/2020 15:26

@Moodgie it feels a lot better today yes. Having said that I had this about 10 ago and then it returned so I’m not sure It is over just yet! Last night I went to bed feeling like I could breathe and I wasn’t breathing through cotton wool or something and it still like that now. I’m just about to go for a stroll so will let you know how that goes. For context I have just had a nap for an hour. I didn’t ‘need’ it but want to give my body as much recovery as I can do!! I was feeling a bit weird and achey limbs so went to bed and now feel brighter so will go for a stroll.

longshot · 13/04/2020 15:28

@Moodgie I’m Day 34 by the way and have no underlying conditions or asthma, and I’m 38 and fit (was fit...)

tempestterra · 13/04/2020 15:31

casino sorry if someone has already answered your question re liver function, I've only just found this thread and am a bit late.
I think you and I were on similar days, I'm now on day 26. I had more gastro issues than resp. I had diarrhoea which lasted 16 days, and couldn't eat for 14. That's all settled down now. But I'm having to be very careful with what I eat. And no alcohol, as I get terrible nausea and pain. I've also developed itchy skin, and get fatigued quite easily. But I am so much better than I was, I know the liver is an amazing organ for recovering, so I'm now eating an almost fat free diet, and being very careful. I'm giving myself three months from one set, and if no improvement was going to ask for liver function tests. Sorry this probably isn't helpful, but I just wanted to say you're not alone with a 'potentially dodgy liver'!

Hope everyone is managing to get a bit of sunlight. And continuing to recover Thanks

Moominmamma33 · 13/04/2020 15:36

Can I have the advice about managing breathlessness, please? Struggling again after a couple of weeks feeling better. Thank you.

godhelpusall · 13/04/2020 15:44

I feel my anxiety mount as I near 4pm as I know that's when I start to feel worse. Does anyone else?

Lightsabre · 13/04/2020 15:55

@Moominmamma33 , do you have an oximeter? EBay sell them for around £20. I find it reassuring that I'm getting enough oxygen even though it doesn't feel like it. Also fresh air helps.

Moodgie · 13/04/2020 15:56

@longshot
Good luck with the walk and fingers crossed you will be ok from now on. 🤞
I am 41, no asthma or anything else, love running, haven’t been great in the last few months, but still relatively active.
If I count from the day I started with a sore throat, that would be day 39, but the first two weeks I thought it was a cold! Then in bed for the last three weeks, with breathing issues.

WorriesomeDad · 13/04/2020 15:58

@Moodgie ok for now, just mild, mainly noticeable if I do anything rather than at rest. As we all know that could change anytime though!

longshot · 13/04/2020 16:05

Walk was ok...heart rate and breathing felt ok, obviously I don't feel fit but I think i could have gone a lot further (only did 15 mins) but know it isn't wise! Now home having a cup of tea and resting.

Moodgie · 13/04/2020 16:05

@WorriesomeDad Fingers crossed!
