When people disappear it would be nice to see if they were alright in the end Flowers any positive endings here?

I’m really poorly and have been for 3 weeks now, no hospital will even admit me, so I would imagine the reason hospital admissions tend to result in scary stories is because they’re left so late.
I’m hoping to see some positivity on this thread. Smile

A relative of mine was admitted to hospital and tested positive for covid-19. 3 days later he deteriorated and ended up in ICU for 10 days. Once out of ICU they was monitored for 2 more days before they was sent home to fully recover. It's been 5 days since they have been at home and are recovering well.

Bimbleboo · 07/04/2020 18:04

@SparkleClub thank you for sharing that! There are few accounts of confirmed cases pulling through.

ToThePub · 07/04/2020 18:18

@SparkleClub thanks for sharing. I wish we could hear more like this. Recovery for U.K. has been at 35 for over a week, they obviously are not updating

Lumene · 07/04/2020 18:19

That’s great @SparkleClub

There have been a few reports on twitter and of celebs who came out of hospital with it too.

iolaus · 07/04/2020 18:20

One of my colleagues (confirmed positive on swab) was back in work yesterday - said she was more tired than normal by the end of the shift but shes fine (she does acknowledge she was lucky in that she had it mildly - wasn't hospitalised)

HoffiCoffi13 · 07/04/2020 18:20

A 91 year old man in my village was in intensive care with it. He’s home now and doing well.

ChrissieKeller61 · 07/04/2020 18:22

I thought it was 50/50 after incubation ?
That must mean a decent number getting well and going home

JackJackIncredible · 07/04/2020 18:23

I know an otherwise fit and healthy 56 year old man who was confirmed positive and spent 2 weeks intubated and ventilated. He’s now recovering at home, doing well and making improvements albeit slowly.

bonzo77 · 07/04/2020 18:27

@ChrissieKeller61 ICU doesn’t always mean intubation.

gettingfedupagain · 07/04/2020 18:33

Those who survive ventilation often need it for a few weeks, so there will be a lag in numbers of survivors of ventilation

Marjoriesdoor · 07/04/2020 18:35

I would love to hear more positive stories about those who have come through ICU stays. I have a family member who is on day 17 of being on a ventilator so need all the good news stories I can get right now!

NurseJaques · 07/04/2020 18:40

My hospital is not yet badly affected, for an idea of numbers..

7 confirmed cases in icu

Approx 50 confirmed people in hospital requiring either cpap, a small amount of oxygen or close monitoring

Approx 30 people who have got better and gone home from wards, this includes a lady aged 101 and multiple people in their 90s

We haven't had anyone leave icu yet but we are behind the curve so the patients there have not been in long, ICU for a respiratory condition won't be a short stay

I'm trying to focus on the people who have recovered as otherwise I would crumble. Sending positive vibes to all Flowers

KOKOagainandagain · 07/04/2020 19:31

Remember the Abel couple from the Diamond Princess? David Abel came close to ventilation and had acute pneumonia. He was a insulin dependent man in his 60/70s. He recovered thanks to excellent health care in Japan.

ToThePub · 07/04/2020 21:25

@KeepOnKeepingOnAgainandAgain
I remember them. He was on Good Morning Britain a couple of weeks ago talking about his recovery.

Supersimkin2 · 07/04/2020 21:29

Of course there are or there would be no point hospitals existing Angry

My mate aged 93 was admitted with it on Fri, unconscious and not breathing; is now out of ICU and sitting upright chatting.

Bouncingbomb · 07/04/2020 21:33

here

JustaScratch · 07/04/2020 21:38

Yes, my cousin, my friend's sister. Both been in ICU with pneumonia from Covid 19. Both now back home and recovering well. They received amazing care. Huge relief for everyone.

myhandsareverycold · 07/04/2020 21:41

Lovely to hear positive stories

AltoClef · 07/04/2020 21:44

Great to hear positive stories 👍

Sparrowlegs248 · 07/04/2020 21:47

@MooPointCowsOpinion I'm sorry to see you are still poorly, I followed your other thread. I really hope you start to improve soon. Xx

Floraflower3 · 07/04/2020 22:00

I don't work in ICU so can't tell you stories from there but most of the other patients I have seen are brought in by ambulance and don't seem very unwell (even with a histpry of shkrtness of breath, they talk in full sentences etc.) We monitor them and supplement with some form of oxygen until they don't desaturate too much on movement, then they are sent home.

I'm so anxious about this but it hasn't actually been as horrific as I thought it would be (I know we have a long way to go). Smile

MrsLeclerc · 07/04/2020 22:10

My uncle’s father in law is 82 and tested positive for Covid while in hospital being treated for something else.

He was kept in for a while but well enough now to be sent home to recover.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 07/04/2020 22:14

Why won't a hospital admit you MooPoint? Have you been seen by a paramedic?
