Nowadays because of the constant anxiety? I’m really struggling today

I've been awake since 4 am today. I'm fine over the weekend but my mind starts churning on a Sunday night thinking mostly about work . Working from home with one day a week in office (key worker). I'm struggling with neck and shoulder pain too which seems worse when I'm tired. I'd just been referred for a mri scan but that's obviously not going to happen now.

catnidge · 06/04/2020 05:34

Me too. I was seriously unwell last year and suffered insomnia then. All better now but since corona the insomnia has flared up again.
I don't feel particularly stressed in the day but come night I just can't settle.
One of my children is a junior Dr on a covid ward. They are an airplane ride away. Sad
I'm sitting here with a cup of tea.
Wishing everyone a better night tonight.

I am finding that relaxation and meditation sessions every few days is helping a bit. Look at Minsdprings.org.

stoptherideiwanttogetoff · 06/04/2020 05:51

Me 🙌 I seem to be awake by 4/5 most days now and although I'm shattered I just can't sleep.

Frownette · 06/04/2020 05:54

I keep wondering how Boris is which is silly of me

YgritteSnow · 06/04/2020 06:01

Have woken up every half an hour or so with heart pounding and feeling terrified until now. Terrifying dreams in between. Prone to panic attacks anyway so I have had nights like this before but this is one is a direct result of reading a ton of news reports and MN Corona stuff for about four hours last night before bed. Have to stop looking at the news and anything Corona related more than once a day or something it's going to make me properly ill if I don't.

tallah · 06/04/2020 06:05

Yeah and I'm pregnant which isn't helping

tumpymummy · 06/04/2020 06:09

@dazzband I too am now regretting the wine I drank last night (but my treat for the week was seeing all my friends on zoom). Just read mariella in the observer who says " I know very well how wine is no longer my friend; it leads to insomnia, late-night bouts of anxiety and an inability to perform at anything like my full capacity the following day."

Ranguski · 06/04/2020 07:57

YgritteSnow yes, I need to stop reading the news as well. I keep looking for some good news...

I had issues prior to this but they are so much worse now. I’m constantly tired because I’m not sleeping very much at all, no matter what I try.

BillieLurk · 06/04/2020 08:41

I’m loving the Headspace app at the moment, mainly for the Sleepcasts section which has been a godsend in helping me drop off. They’re stories read by soothing voices set to ambient background noise, and I have slept so much better since starting to use them at a time when my anxiety was really bad at the start of all this and I was struggling to sleep. I love the Cat Marina (purring cats and water) one and Rain Day Antiques (rain on windows). I think there might be versions on YouTube if anyone wants to have a listen, but on the app the order of the story segments are random so you don’t get used to it, which i think is meant to affect how easily it helps you fall asleep. The Soundscapes section is great too. There might be something on the free version of the app - I’m not sure.

(I’ve had the Headspace app for ages and kept putting off using it. Blush Kicking myself for not starting to use it sooner)

Vivid dreams here too! Last night I dreamt that vampires

SparkyTheCat · 06/04/2020 08:46

...sorry hit post too soon. That vampires had stopped being photosensitive and were coming for us. Luckily woke up at that point!

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 06/04/2020 09:16

I would say im not anxious at all

But I’m really struggling to switch my mind off and go to sleep

So maybe subconsciously i am...

Ranguski · 06/04/2020 10:24

I think it’s just that the brain is always alert on any news so subconsciously I must be lapping it up during the day and keep churning it at night

How is every feeling today?

OP posts:
tumpymummy · 06/04/2020 16:14

Went to bed at 6.30pm then slept till 11am. Had nothing I needed to get up for. Actually feel fine. I dont look at the news. Plodding along in my own little world. Will phone my mum in a short while to check how she is. Her friend is in hospital with what looks like the coronavirus and unfortunately it doesnt sound good as she also has underlying health issues. So hard to know what to say.

tumpymummy · 06/04/2020 16:15

Bed at 6.30am not pm!

Ranguski · 06/04/2020 17:23

That’s a good start..getting some sleep and not listening tO the news

kevintheorangecarrot · 07/04/2020 19:23

Yes I keep waking up 2-3 times a night

katkit · 07/04/2020 22:20

Yes. Kalms and cannabis tea are helping a lot. Particularly the tea.

katkit · 07/04/2020 22:21

I keep checking my iphone every five minutes, as if it’s a magic eight ball.

mindproject · 07/04/2020 22:26

I think people are mostly stressed because they know, on a subconscious level at least, that they are being lied to and manipulated about a lot of this. We are under attack.

WhiteChocTwix · 07/04/2020 22:27

Was awake at 4am this morning and couldn't go back to sleep. I felt anxious about family, and Boris, and catching CV, and lacking a job... You name it. Had bad leg and shoulder cramps as well which didn't help. (Part of a long term health thing when I over exert myself). Hope I sleep better tonight I'm knackered. 💤😴

Peopleshouses · 07/04/2020 22:28

Yes every night, awful. I wake up constantly feeling very anxious, worrying about everything and everyone Sad
