Nowadays because of the constant anxiety? I’m really struggling today

I wasnt worried about getting it, but the closer it gets the more I realise I am scared. Although more scared about family members catching it. Also worried that hubby is putting us at risk. He just wont #stay home. Still going out to work (only one in office now,), still popping to the shops whenever he feels like it (because shops near office he says are not busy and well stocked), still going out for long cycle rides.

Ranguski · 06/04/2020 04:14

tumpy oh that must be concerning. We both are working from home however there are times when I struggle with my husband as well. We had a click and collect today and I practically had washed every item..his view was that I’m being silly..

Maybe I am but there were some reports about this wretched virus surving up to 28 days in the fridge...

Each of us can only do our best to minimise the risk, it won’t stop it completely but it will help. Yes people still need to work if they have too, or shop when they need too. But what we are doing now is buying time for nhs services to keep up and/or find a vaccine

Stay home when you can, but also shop when you must. Strike a balance and don’t turn on each other

BakedCam · 06/04/2020 04:15

@Ranguski

It is not about the numbers for me - although I read the analysis thread on here which is extremely helpful, it is more that I feel that the seriousness of this virus, the current situation and its impact is just the tip of the iceberg. These new hospitals, (quite possibly the largest in Europe) dont make me feel too comfortable.

I had confirmed swine flu in 2009, it was never like what we see today. It was completely different (although I wasnt in the UK) there wasnt the panic then that we have now.

IAmLegendaryExtra · 06/04/2020 04:17

Me too almost like clockwork, 3am I’m up. I’m not sure if it’s anxiety caused by the Covid situation but it probably is.

tumpymummy · 06/04/2020 04:21

@ranguski I wipe over all shopping on the occasional trip I go on (once every 2 weeks) I dont know if its overkill but it makes me feel better. Of course hubby doesn't because that's overreacting.

Ranguski · 06/04/2020 04:22

Does the analysis thread BakedCam mentioned put us in the same trajectory as Italy?

I’m the same...What do you do with fresh fruit like satsumas and veg tumpymummy

I can’t use soap on them..although I am tempted to...

Thepigeonsarecoming · 06/04/2020 04:28

If your cooking veg that will kill anything, waxy fruit are easy to wash if you feel the need

Ranguski · 06/04/2020 04:33

Thank you Thepigeon you mean wash the fruit with just water?

OP posts:
Thepigeonsarecoming · 06/04/2020 04:35

Yep just soapy water, if it’s an orange you will peel it so it’s flesh will be fine

Thepigeonsarecoming · 06/04/2020 04:38

I should say personally I don’t, I just wash my hands before and after handling bought items, but can understand why others feel the need

tumpymummy · 06/04/2020 04:39

I've just been rinsing fruit or as thepigeonsarecoming says veg is cooked so not an issue. Anyway with teenagers in the house fruit never gets eaten quickly anyway, so sitting around for days. And most of our fruit and veg is from supermarket so in bags anyway.

Veronicat · 06/04/2020 04:41

Hello! Me too. Its horrendous. I'm out like a light by 10pm then awake from 3am. Constant nightmares too

Ranguski · 06/04/2020 04:42

Yes my click and collect was from Sainsburys but the satsumas were in that net bag..I ended washing the whole bag

OP posts:
tumpymummy · 06/04/2020 04:55

@veronicat I read that vivid dreams and nightmares are common at the moment due to the stress everyone is under. Also more likely to remember them if sleeping later than normal as that is when you have Rem sleep.

Veronicat · 06/04/2020 05:00

Its frightening how quickly this is has become our new normal

Dazzband · 06/04/2020 05:02

Im wide awake, made worse by having a few glasses of wine last night. Alcohol prevents me from sleeping and makes my anxiety worse.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 06/04/2020 05:06

@tumpymummy I’ve always had lucid/vivid dreams, but yes more now. Mostly irrelevant to the virus though, just weird random stuff!

toothfairy73 · 06/04/2020 05:09

I can't sleep. I might fall asleep but then wake a number of times and can't get back to sleep. I've had one slightly less disturbed night where I fell back to sleep end only woke twice since this thing all started and I'm shattered.

GarlicSoup · 06/04/2020 05:12

I can’t sleep either I’m putting the kettle on any one for a cuppa? Very vivid dreams her the last few nights.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 06/04/2020 05:13

What are you scared of, I’ve heard saying it all (typing it) helps

DameHannahRelf · 06/04/2020 05:20

Same, I feel exhausted, but I've got too much going on in my head to rest easy, and every new night of tossing, turning and weird dreams makes me feel even worse. Hoping when I do go to sleep "tonight", I'll be tired enough to actually sleep properly.

Ds has no school work over easter, I had this week booked of anyways, so I'll hopefully be able to relax a bit more. It took me two weeks before I stopped waking up in the mornings (about 20 minutes past the time my alarm usually goes off) thinking "shit! We're going to be late! I don't have ds's uniform ready! Then I'd remember.

tomatoesomtoast · 06/04/2020 05:22

Awake from 3am most nights. Teaching myself bird song. Not particularly anxious.

tumpymummy · 06/04/2020 05:25

Yes please @garlicsoup I'd love a cuppa. gets up and goes to make one!
