Does anyone know how his health is and how he’s doing?

Rubbish, he's been following what the "experts" have said, not making it up himself.

Which experts precisely did the government appoint and which experts precisely did they listen to? Did the government allow political ideology to influence their action (or should we say lack of action). Were their actions constrained by a lack of nurses/PPE/tests/equipment - obstacles that certain other similarly developed nations have not faced to anything like the same extent.
Dig around those questions a while. You can try this for starters.

I'll give him one thing. He's no hypocrite. I can imagine many other politicians from all parties would have taken a do as I say not as I do approach. Told us to continue as normal whilst holeing up somewhere safe. I wouldn't be surprised if be refused to try any of the drugs that could help too. From what I've heard early treatment is key. He's been as negligent with his own health as he has with everyone else's. He's stupid but stupidity shouldn't be a capital offence. I agree with PP too that he's not making decisions in his own. He leads but needs to work with the CMO, the CSO, cabinet members. Only in dictatorships does a country's leader have sole responsibility.

You don't have to like someone or their politics to wish them well. I hope he makes a speedy recovery.

Saying “they listened to the experts” is meaningless. Every government in every situation claims to be listening to the experts. The Conservatives, for one, readily dismiss education experts who tell them how flawed their educational policy is. They regularly dismiss drug experts who advise that cannabis should reclassified. They regularly dismiss policing exlerts who tell them that they cannot police effectively with current numbers. I could go on and on. What makes you take on trust that they asked suitable experts (not just “experts”) and took their advice this time - presuming (which is a massive presume) that the NHS was in any state to meet what the experts demanded of it.

He may have personally caused several deaths through his idiocy. Forgive me if I do not applaud him for “not being a hypocrite”. That’s harsh, I know but it’s also a fact. Of course I wish him, and everyone he may have infected well.

1forsorrow · 05/04/2020 21:07

People may not approve of him or his government but it’s entirely different to wish the guy dead, some posters on here need to find some bloody compassion Like he casually told us many of us would lose loved ones? Like him bragging about shaking hands (spreading the virus) Like him leaving HCP without protection. I care as much about him as he cares about me and mine and the rest of you.

Rumboogie · 05/04/2020 21:08

My first thought was that he and others like him with very significant symptoms and possible incipient pneumonia need what in normal circs they would be getting but now are not - ie. a doctor's visit and a medical decision based on examination, etc.

Instead people are simply being left to their own devices, with, possibly, remote access to some 'advice', which is no substitute. Hence, I suspect, late admissions and higher than necessary death toll.

Imagine linking to a Guardian article where sweden are having an approach of letting it burn and build up herd immunity.

Imagine thinking that any other country other than south korea had reserves of PPE and testing that was because of the close poximity to china, then add onto that Germany shafting Italy with said supplies and still try and paint it as our Government being bad other than its a world wide pandemic, I would suggest you read around the issues and not be so easily led by the guardian, might make you have a more nuanced opinion of it all, you know with the considering the 'evil' tory party are in power

VegetableMunge · 05/04/2020 21:10

He's been as negligent with his own health as he has with everyone else's.

And that of his pregnant partner, of course. If I were her I would find it hard to forgive him for his stupidity.

DarnedSocks · 05/04/2020 21:14

Is the guardian supportive of Sweden's policy? Usually they're very hot on migrant rights - and it's immigrant communities who are so far bearing the brunt of Sweden's approach.

FourDecades · 05/04/2020 21:15

Just announced he has gone to hospital

Lunde · 05/04/2020 21:15

SouthWestmom · 05/04/2020 21:16

I wonder what tests? Maybe for pneumonia?

breakingbetter · 05/04/2020 21:16

Sky just announced he's been admitted to hospital. Knew something wasn't right.

Not a fan of him at all, but I wish him all the best for a full recovery.

alittlecloudfloatinginthesky · 05/04/2020 21:16

Well that's him admitted to hospital now... If he'd waited until tomorrow he could have been the first into the Nightingale (that's when they start taking patients I think).

Rosehip10 · 05/04/2020 21:16

thesedaysarescary · 05/04/2020 21:16

esjee · 05/04/2020 21:16

I don't like him politically, but I really do wish him well. It sounds like he has quite a bad case.
