Is Boris Johnson OK?

Does anyone know how his health is and how he’s doing?

OP posts:
KenDodd · 06/04/2020 11:03

the reality that cuts to the NHS kill people

This with bells on.

Haven't Tory cuts (not just to the NHS) been estimated to have cost 100,000 people their lives?

VegetableMunge · 06/04/2020 11:04

I don't know that he was advised it was ok bobstersmum. It wasn't the advice any medic I heard was giving at the time.

SouthWestmom · 06/04/2020 11:04

News now says he remains in charge and leading the cabinet.
I just don't understand why people have to try to make a bad situation worse. Talk of him being on a ventilator, having to resign, it's naivety to think it's not an emergency.

vanillandhoney · 06/04/2020 11:05

Why was he advised that was OK?

He wasn't. He was advised to stop shaking hands with anyone and decided to do it anyway.

Whilst I hope he makes a speedy recovery, he did a lot of foolish things. It's not surprising he caught it.

VegetableMunge · 06/04/2020 11:06

If he is still in charge whilst sufficiently unwell to be hospitalised, that's worrying in itself. I don't think anyone should be expected or allowed to keep working in that situation.

vanillandhoney · 06/04/2020 11:08

Because some people like to spread fear and worry - maybe it makes them feel better?

Just follow the actual news. Unless someone can back up what they're saying with a reputable source, it's generally best to ignore it. And despite what some people upthread have said, random people saying things on twitter is not a source!

bobstersmum · 06/04/2020 11:09

Bloody hell, Boris you wally. Really hope he's OK though!

esjee · 06/04/2020 11:12

Some really ghoulish posts on here. 'He's on a ventilator! He's probably going to die! Even if he doesn't he'll be cognitively impaired!' Stick to the known facts and stop revelling in the gory details of the very worst case scenarios.

peridito · 06/04/2020 11:13

cologne4711 · 06/04/2020 11:13

You can't tell someone has high BP from looking at them I know, I said "I imagine". Not "I know".

If you think he is "well fed" then why are you referring to him as overweight? Which is he* both! Presumably he goes to lots of posh dinners where he eats a lot. I remember how much fatter my father was when he was working, he wasn't overweight because he was very tall, but lost a couple of stone when he retired because he wasn't eating big dinners several times a week anymore.
I hadn't realised he smokes, that's not good if it's true.

Exactly, he should be allowed to rest in bed for however long it takes.

Exactly. There is no evidence whatsoever that he's on a ventilator. He's Prime Minister - they're going to take more precautions with him than they will with with Dave down the road. If getting him admitted means he rests and gets proper treatment then they'll do that.

Springhere · 06/04/2020 11:15

I'm rooting for Boris, as I am for anyone suffering from this horrible illness, but he absolutely shouldn't be in charge of the country while ill enough to be in hospital. It's deeply irresponsible.

peridito · 06/04/2020 11:18

I agree people love to dramatise and bad news lends itself to this .

On the other hand just following the news as it came out of China and applying no critical thinking ( like hang on a minute ,I wonder if China's reports are reliable given what we know of the country and past history in reporting ) meant (IMO) that the UK gov undersestimated the virus and were lax in preparations .

It's natural not to take reported news at face value .

justanotherneighinparadise · 06/04/2020 11:21

I suspect he’s in a private room, hooked up to oxygen and a variety of machines whilst still working. If his deputy officially takes over then we’ll know he is no longer conscious.

vanillandhoney · 06/04/2020 11:23

It's natural not to take reported news at face value

Absolutely.

But posting things like "Boris must be on a ventilator" with no reputable source to back it up isn't going achieve anything. All it does is cause people to be even more afraid than they already are.

Remember, Boris is PM. He has access to excellent private healthcare and won't be treated the same as other people. They don't want him to die, so they're going to do absolutely everything they can to make sure he recovers ASAP.

VegetableMunge · 06/04/2020 11:27

Is private healthcare going to do much at this point? I agree he's going to get the best NHS care, but what will private do now?

SouthWestmom · 06/04/2020 11:29

Decent coffee, and you don't pay for the telly? Grin

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 06/04/2020 11:31

Private healthcare effectively doesn't exist at this present time, at least not for COVID-19!

The care he gets will indeed be excellent, but it will be excellent NHS care from excellent NHS-focused doctors and nurses.

I hope he recovers quickly and fully.

Moonface123 · 06/04/2020 11:34

Some really awful posts on here, so much for empathy.
I love Boris Johnson and wish him well.

WhatdoImean · 06/04/2020 11:36

I most definitely do NOT love him (I hesitate to use the work "hate" for his politics and opinions, but suffice it to say I have strong feelings).

That said, I cannot but wish him well - anyone in this situation, pauper or Prince, deserves support and best wishes. When it comes to this illness, class or politics is immaterial - it affects us all

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 06/04/2020 11:37

No to coffee, yes to telly

vanillandhoney · 06/04/2020 11:40

Probably not much, but let's be fair, he's going to get much more focus and intervention than a random member of the public. The experience he has in hospital won't be what anyone else experiences. He's the PM - they're going to do everything the can do to keep him alive, and if that means early intervention, then that's what he'll get.

beautifulteeth · 06/04/2020 11:42

There are some truly nasty comments on here.

Absolutely hypocritical left wing nastiness. Totally disgusting. You should hang your heads in shame.

Let's hope neither you or your loved ones become unwell with it.

Get well soon Boris ❤️

And yet...

Absolutely hypocritical left wing nastiness

What a bloody stupid sweeping statement.
