Does anyone know how his health is and how he’s doing?

OP posts:
Porcupineinwaiting · 06/04/2020 08:44

@SophieSong well said.

He can have my best wishes too, and I hope he turns the corner soon.

BovaryX · 06/04/2020 08:49

He has to be on a ventilator
Vera99
If that is true, that doesn't bode well. I hope he recovers swiftly, but isn't it the case that the a majority of patients on a ventilator sadly don't recover? This blasted, lethal virus.

vera99 · 06/04/2020 08:51

According to twitter it’s being reported he’s at St Thomas’ and on oxygen.

BovaryX · 06/04/2020 08:53

^By the time the disease develops to the point of needing a ventilator, in the best of circumstances your chance of survival is 50%. In some countries, however, it can be as low as 20%. By this time next week we will know if he has survived. Bojo's chances are probably better than most as he is only 55 years old, but almost all survivors sustain permanent damage as a side-effect of intubation. Often damage to their cognitive function.
My bet is that he will survive but will have no choice but to resign. That is a tragedy for his family and his pregnant fiancé^

Vera
I just saw this post. If true; and what you say makes sense; that is very grim. Irrespective of politics, this is bloody awful.

BovaryX · 06/04/2020 08:54

Christ. I hope he pulls through.

aurynne · 06/04/2020 08:57

Not that long ago, Moris Johnson was promoting the idea of acquiring "natural immunity" to COVID-19. Well, this is exactly how you acquire natural immunity in populations facing a new disease without a vaccine available: by plenty of people dying, and the survivors becoming immune to it. If you support that process, then you need to accept that one of the people who dies of it may be yourself.

Having said that, I wish him a prompt recovery and a newly found self-awareness after his illness.

aurynne · 06/04/2020 08:58

*Boris even

vera99 · 06/04/2020 09:05

As a PM he would have been 'Moris Major' as well if an attempt at humour is possible in these dark days...

StarKiller1974 · 06/04/2020 09:40

I can't tell you what a relief it was to look at the messages on this forum. I mistakenly went onto a forum last week that turned into the most hate filled, vile and spiteful rants from people towards me. I understand it is harder for some people than for others and not everyone has a reserve of mental strength or finances due to other issues but wishing someone dead, especially if it is purely because you don't agree with them for any reason it is wrong,

I was never a fan of Boris, still not but to know a lot of you feel the same and yet still wish him well made me feel almost emotional - in a good way. Thank you all.

The80sweregreat · 06/04/2020 09:54

I hope he recovers soon.
I also hope the government can get the right equipment to the hospitals and we can all stay safe. Horrible times.

Bouncingbomb · 06/04/2020 10:04

according to twitter it’s being reported he’s at St Thomas’ and on oxygen

This doesn't mean ventilated and all the risks and stats that go with ventilation.

KenDodd · 06/04/2020 10:34

but wishing someone dead
Has anybody wished him dead on this thread?
I hope BJ gets better (as I would with anyone).
I don't wish anyone dead. Unlike some of his cabinet who do wish people dead through their support for the death penalty.

The first policy BJ championed was of 'herd immunity' he pursued this policy knowing it would mean people would die and letting that happen. Thank God he changed track. Now while I wouldn't describe BJ as wishing people dead through that (genuinely, unlike some of his cabinet colleagues) his policy was to let people die. I actually do believe this must have been a tortuous decision for him and it remains to be seen which path was best.

KenDodd · 06/04/2020 10:37

Never mind the fact he's a fucking stupid twat and went round boasting about shaking everybody's hand on a CV ward.

Bouncingbomb · 06/04/2020 10:37

I certainly wouldn't wish anyone dead and for what its worth I think the Government are now doing a reasonable job in the circumstances.

Herd immunity was an absolutely disgraceful approach when we could see how the rest of the world was reacting.

IsolationBoredom · 06/04/2020 10:47

They’re saying on This Morning that it wasn’t an emergency Hmm

EricaNernie · 06/04/2020 10:49

well it wasnt reported as an emergency last night

catscatscatseverywhere · 06/04/2020 10:50

I hope that, once he recovers, he will start appreciating and investing in nhs more. His current attitude towards public healthcare was an absolute disgrace

StarKiller1974 · 06/04/2020 10:50

Not that I have seen, it was on a different forum that I will not make the mistake of looking at again,. I am loving the positive feel of this forum.

VegetableMunge · 06/04/2020 10:51

Yes, hopefully he learns some useful lessons from this terrible situation.

The80sweregreat · 06/04/2020 10:51

'This morning ' are saying what isn't an emergency? The PM in hospital must have been an emergency. I'm
Sure he wouldn't have wanted to go in there any more than anyone else would! Are they playing it down?

vanillandhoney · 06/04/2020 10:54

They’re saying on This Morning that it wasn’t an emergency

It was never reported as an emergency though. All the news (as in, proper news, not online speculation) has said he was admitted for routine tests.

It's only on here that people have been talking about the fact that he "must be on a ventilator" - because some random person on MN must know more than the press Hmm

bobstersmum · 06/04/2020 10:56

@vegetablemunge what lessons might he learn?

VegetableMunge · 06/04/2020 10:59

Not to shake hands with diagnosed covid patients, particularly not when you live with a pregnant woman for starters.

After that, the reality that cuts to the NHS kill people, and that in underfunding it for years we have left ourselves more vulnerable to this than we needed to be. And that this matters even if you're rich, because when the shit really and truly hits the fan, your money and private health insurance won't be able to buy you out of it.

catscatscatseverywhere · 06/04/2020 11:01

VegetableMunge, exactly.

bobstersmum · 06/04/2020 11:02

He did that!! I had no idea. Why was he advised that was OK?
