Covid

Lovely dad passed away in hospital

I am heartbroken. My 74 year old father was taken into hospital two days ago suffering with Covid 19. He passed away last night with only a nurse by his bedside. My mum is ill with symptoms at home. I am beyond heartbroken. I don’t even know if we will be allowed a funeral. I cannot take it in. It doesn’t seem real.

My dad died of cancer years ago and we weren’t with him at the end either. My sister and I sat with dad’s sister when she was dying and eventually went at 9pm as we had to get back to the children as a friend was kindly looking after them. She died shortly after we left, the nurse said often the way it happens as they want to spare you. I hope this is some comfort for you that you were unable to be there.
I think they are allowing immediate family to go the funeral. Locally ten mourners only. Some people are saying they will have a memorial later.

Dear OP, my father died on Friday of CV19, and like you, we were not able to be with him. I just wanted to say that sadly, you are not alone, and that others are going through the same thing. I am so sorry for your loss, it is utterly, utterly heartbreaking [ flowers]. We are devestated. Please feel free to PM me if you would like.

I am so desperately sorry, just completely heartbreaking for you and your whole family. I have heard with limits on funeral mourners, some people are opting for an additional remembrance service later in the year, perhaps this could be an option Xxx
