Just been told that you can't put washing out to dry because of the virus is this true.

Thanks

ZeldaPrincessOfHyrule · 04/04/2020 21:01

It's fine OP. Just make sure it doesn't get darked on.

SydneyCarton · 04/04/2020 21:02

I hung a couple of sheets out in our communal garden (we live in a flat) and after a couple of hours DP got worried people would cough on them and transmit the virus, so he brought them back in. They’ve been washed again and are now hanging out on the balcony. While I suppose it’s theoretically possible to get the virus like that I personally think the actual chances of anyone being infected via a sheet are zero

KeepWashingThoseHands · 04/04/2020 21:03

Will it be within 2 metres of a human?Grin

If hanging washing out isn't ok we're all screwed as the virus can fly in the wind.

I would think absolutely fine and UV light a good thing.

MtnGal2025 · 04/04/2020 21:04

Ihavebrillohair Made me cackle, thanks.

LangClegsInSpace · 04/04/2020 21:07

Good heavens. Is this virus attacking powers of critical thinking as well as the lungs and immune system?

Yes, it is.

We are facing not only a viral pandemic but a mental health pandemic. People who are under extreme stress or who have extreme anxiety are less able to make rational decisions.

OP, you are fine to hang out your washing but wait until tomorrow or it will get darked on SmileBrew

peajotter · 04/04/2020 21:07

@IHaveBrilloHair I agree!

FannyFernackerpan · 04/04/2020 21:08

I've been putting washing out every day for the past couple of weeks. Done all the bedding, towels, soft furnishings, the lot. We've had a good stretch of decent weather since this began and I've made the most of it.

CathyorClaire · 04/04/2020 21:17

Lord above.

I'll take my chances...

minniemoll · 04/04/2020 21:19

You're fine hanging it out, just need to make sure that everything is at least 2 metres from the item next to it....

usersouthcoast · 04/04/2020 21:20

No wonder I've got a fever. Bloody fresh bed sheets.

AnyFucker · 04/04/2020 21:21

Unless your laundry is to be used to tuck Covid-infected patients up in bed on the ICU I am sure you will be fine

H1978 · 04/04/2020 21:22

Hope it’s not true, I washed all my tesco carrier bags after the shopping came and hung them out to dry 😳

bleepbleepbla · 04/04/2020 21:25

@H1978 did u wash them at 60 degrees?!

dementedpixie · 04/04/2020 21:26

They don't need 60⁰C. They just need detergent

dementedpixie · 04/04/2020 21:27

Although I've never washed carrier bags tbh

RogueV · 04/04/2020 21:29

Fucks sake another one

I’m going to report

IHaveBrilloHair · 04/04/2020 21:30

I was mine at 90, then put them in the tumble dryer, you should try it.
Kills the spiders and their willies too.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 04/04/2020 21:34

Oh FFS.

Has the spread of Covid 19 caused the rest of the population to loose any common sense that they may well have once had?

Laniakea · 04/04/2020 21:39

What the fuck has happened to people?

Have they always been like this & I just didn’t notice?

Between stupid shit like this & the all clapping .... jeez I’m losing hope Sad

ladybee28 · 04/04/2020 21:57

@IHaveBrilloHair I'm crying... Grin

YourWinter · 04/04/2020 22:00

How much sillier can people get?

meonekton · 04/04/2020 23:05

I think stuck in the house makes people lose common sense. Grin
If you can't hang washing outside because of floating virus in the air in your garden, you can't go out into your garden, or you will catch it.

MARMITEcheese2020 · 04/04/2020 23:08

I've had 3 loads out daily for nr 2 weeks now each time it's dry.. I even had high line re fitted (rotary one was a pain with the kids playing football and toys etc)
It lulls up nr the height of the top of my upstairs windows.. So I doubt even if this virus had wings it would get that high

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/04/2020 23:11

I'm sure people are getting confused between covid and nuclear fallout.

TuckMyWin · 04/04/2020 23:15

@OhYouBadBadKitten crying 😂
