Wehttam · 04/04/2020 23:38

Mascotte there must be something you can get surely? There has to be otherwise there would be rioting on the streets right now.

I’m not a finances or benefits expert person so if someone knows what she must do please can they help out here?

SummersMahoosiveClipOnFringe · 04/04/2020 23:38

I think easing will start with some social distancing restrictions in place at the start of May with the over 60s being told to continue to self isolate etc.

OLP2019 · 04/04/2020 23:39

@LilacTree1 social distancing and curfew in place for 2 weeks before this though many things still open as usual unlike in the Uk but they went from that to total lockdown down don't leave home at all overnight

ClientQueen · 04/04/2020 23:40

They've said 12 weeks for people shielding so I wouldn't imagine so
I know it's hard, I haven't had a face to face conversation in a while. When the 12 weeks is up that means it will be 12 weeks since I had a proper face conversation or hugged anyone as I live alone. But I don't want to die, so I'm staying in, what else can you do? I'm amazed people can't even follow guidelines for 3 weeks when some of us are facing 3 months holed up alone with no human contact

Lonelycrab · 04/04/2020 23:40

op no

Eckhart · 04/04/2020 23:41

People can’t just be locked up til there’s a cure

Nobody is locked up...

MarshaBradyo · 04/04/2020 23:42

Bflat they are doing a small scale antibody test which hopefully will help. Sounded very low in numbers though.

Damnpeskykids · 04/04/2020 23:43

Hi OP no, I don't think it will end next weekend unfortunately! I think we'll be like this until at least May and then very gradual restraints lifted. But 6 weeks ago I would have never thought we would be in this position so...?! I can't wait to see my family, especially my dad who lives literally 2 minutes away from us we all miss him so much. It's a really shit/strange situation for everyone Sad

Wehttam · 04/04/2020 23:44

Pish you’re right, this isn’t house arrest, people can go to do their food shopping if they so wish if being at home is too hard to handle.

They can take the risk themselves but on the proviso that should they contract the virus due to their condition and age they may not be treated. That’s why many are being asked to self isolate so that it keeps them safe and reduces the number of times NHS staff have to make the call on withholding treatment due to pre existing conditions and age.

The official guidelines the government Will set out will be to the effect that if you are shielding you should remain in place or risk being in a difficult situation should you get ill from this.

Mascotte · 04/04/2020 23:44

Thanks @Wehttam but I’m in a very specific position the details of which I won’t bore you with but there’s nothing. I could resign my post and claim benefit maybe but then I’d have no way to get back when this is over.

Mascotte · 04/04/2020 23:46

And @Eckhart it really us when you are alone with no human contact and all you’re resources to deal with your difficulties removed as we must Stay At Home. Liberty gone.

Eckhart · 04/04/2020 23:47

Mascotte

If you've been paying your taxes, what's up with this?

Monty27 · 04/04/2020 23:47

Had people not been so selfish we'd be a lot closer to where we are now. Selfish as in clearing supermarket shelves causing people to continually try to source necessities as in loo rolls, pasta, hand sanitizer, tinned tomatoes etc.
Then there was the others that thought they were or are invincible.
Boris sat back watching Italy and other high mortality rates wondering what to do. Loads of mistakes were made.
I don't see an end to lockdown any time soon.

Wehttam · 04/04/2020 23:47

Mascotte is resigning not the best option though, it’s not like they need to rehire someone for the position, you could simply restart the contact once restrictions are lifted?

Absolutepowercorrupts · 04/04/2020 23:47

For all of you saying that you can't stand being forced to stay at home.
You're safe at home, you are even more safe if you only mix with your immediate family. You are able to get outside for limited time.
Terry Waite spent 5 years in solitary confinement. 3 months is fuck all compared to that.
You're not in a war zone, you're not being bombed, shelled or shot at. You aren't in the middle of an ocean desperately trying to escape to a new life.

Mascotte · 04/04/2020 23:48

Wehtamm it doesn’t work like that. It’s an appointment not employment as such

Pishposhpashy · 04/04/2020 23:49

Absolutepowercorrupts

I work in DV. Many of the women and children I know are absolutely not safe at home. Did you know that the trauma of witnessing DV for children has been shown to be equivalent to growing up in a war zone?

Ffs think before you make flippant comments.

TurquoiseDress · 04/04/2020 23:51

Big fat NO

Wehttam · 04/04/2020 23:53

Absolute I think the government need to rephrase the isolation aspect and call it safehousing. I suppose for many this has come as a complete bolt out of the blue and taken many by absolute surprise so it’s understanble that people are afraid or even wishing for freedom again.

It’s certainly not a prison sentence and there will be light at the end of the tunnel. It’s going to be a long adjustment period for those in the shielding category also for their carers or loved ones and families.

RarePackOfLooRoll · 04/04/2020 23:54

No.
Remember all the pictures 2 weeks ago tomorrow of hundreds of people rammed into supermarkets, Snowdens busiest day ever etc etc.
All those people infected that weekend will only just be beginning to get unwell. The worst affected will have a week ton10 days after becomming unwell before they start drowinng in their own secretions so I reckon it will be the middle of end of next week before that peak hits.

So if be shocked if the lock down was finished this week or next week.
I do admire your optimism at such a bleak time though.

Wehttam · 04/04/2020 23:54

Mascotte I hope you find a solution soon then. 🙏🏻

joystir59 · 04/04/2020 23:56

We will be on lockdown until there are enough masks for us all to wear them.all the time outside the house and when the virus deaths have peaked and we are on the downward curve

Wehttam · 04/04/2020 23:57

Pish the DV element is chilling, there is going to be a wave of sadness across society with all of this, implications we can not fathom or even anticipate.

I don’t envy those in decision making roles because it’s going to be very difficult.

Onceateacher · 05/04/2020 00:00

Rarepackoflooroll that's a disgusting phrase in your post there are people reading this who will lose family and friends to this virus.

Wehttam · 05/04/2020 00:02

Once it’s disgusting but it’s what happens at the end stage of this virus as graphic as it reads.
