People demanding a full lock down

It really really annoys me! Most of us are following rules. Not even going for a walk most days. People are kicking off on my local corna page that theres more cars in town today. So they now think we need a full lock down.

Firstly it's the weekend. More people will be shopping due to being at work all week? People might be shopping for other family and dropping it off.

Theres a police statement that the a52 is really quiet and they are saying well done for listening.

People are allowed out for walks. It's important for dogs, children and adults to get air and move around. It should be one walk a day. It can't be controlled if 400 people choose to do just that between 1-2pm or only 30 do. So yes the streets may sometimes show more people. But most of them are probably just going for a walk. The only thing we have left for our minds and health.

I'm not talking about people having picnics,
Travelling for an afternoon walk somewhere,
Sneaking to see family unless they need help.

I'm saying the majority of people are going to be doing the decent thing.

I think rather than fully locking us down fine the minority sat in groups and doing the "wrong" things. Give them a full lockdown but don't punish the many decent people.

The parents/people in flats without gardens need to walk

Young children need to move.

We all need to move about.

Also i wish people would stop getting in a rage about cars being out. There are no online shopping slots. So thousands of locals will need to go out for food each week. Milk and bread etc will need buying for many every few days. Pet food needs buying. Prescriptions need collecting. Workers need to go to and from work.

A huge majority of people are following the rules. I'm sick of everyone being put into the same category. My kids have gone for their 3rd walk in two weeks just now with their dad. I'm sure people will be tutting and presuming we are another family out and not listening. They need to get out for 15 minutes today though. They are starting to climb the walls and get bored.

Far too many irate people at the moment.

So what if you go and forget something or they have run out , have you got to wait a whole week to get it ?

well, yes, unless you are missing vital medication, surely you can do without that something for a week. Unless it's loo rolls I guess.

Justincasecakehappens · 04/04/2020 18:00

Do you notice that none of the people suggesting this have ever lived in a country where it's normal to see armed soldiers out on the streets? There is a reason for that.

how do you know? Not everyone was born in Britain, and people have enough brain to make a difference between a normal police check - the way the border police is currently checking - and a full military state.

ilovecakeandwine · 04/04/2020 18:00

Could be anything loo rolls , shampoo , soap, cat food , bread , milk I could go on ...
I'm not waiting a week ffs

twinkle2306 · 04/04/2020 18:00

@Becca19962014 I've been following some of your other threads and cannot sympathise with your situation more.

This is where total lockdown confusions come. The idea of total lockdown doesn't mean that people can't go shopping, it doesn't mean that you can't leave your house what it does mean is that you'd be restricted by distance of how far you could leave your house for exercise. This does not include travel for food.

In essence it is the same as now but restricts distance and what again is essential.

People should not be reporting you for going out once a day!

LaurieFairyCake · 04/04/2020 18:00

Well I had a lovely lockdown day. Went for a 3 mile walk through Greenwich and sat by the river and ate takeaway chips.

Just like any other normal day before lockdown. All permissible.

(And I also go to the shops at least once a week for bread and milk - they are fucking basics)

Eckhart · 04/04/2020 18:01

Tea isn't essential...

-ducks and runs for cover-

GabsAlot · 04/04/2020 18:03

get a taxi? do you think in other lockdown countries you can pop out whenever you want.

anyone the op asked what people would want and I answered

Shitsgettingcrazy · 04/04/2020 18:03

how do you know? Not everyone was born in Britain, and people have enough brain to make a difference between a normal police check - the way the border police is currently checking - and a full military state.

Trust me....people who think that way of living preserves life and will solve all our problems have not lived it.

I have. Have you?

ilovecakeandwine · 04/04/2020 18:03

Other lockdown countries you can still go to the shops Hmm

Justincasecakehappens · 04/04/2020 18:04

They are literally saying to the government 'please control my life and tell me what/what not to do!'

not really, they are saying we understand the rules and have enough brain to follow what makes sense. Unfortunately, idiots who think they are special need a bit of a firmer hand because they refuse to have any common sense.

Gwenhwyfar · 04/04/2020 18:04

"sat by the river and ate takeaway chips."

I didn't think this was allowed actually. I thought we were allowed out to exercise or shop for essentials, not to linger or have a solo picnic. I'm not saying it's harmful, just that I was made to believe it wasn't allowed.

Darbs76 · 04/04/2020 18:04

Fact is many are not following the rules. Bread and milk are essentials but surely people can buy enough for a week? Stop going to the shops daily.

GabsAlot · 04/04/2020 18:04

also our B and q is open also the range which'isn't needed

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 04/04/2020 18:04

I know because those of us who have lived in places where it's normal to have armed soldiers on the streets keep pointing out that it's not something to wish for.

For me green tea is an essential.
(Confuses everyone).

emmcan · 04/04/2020 18:05

Can't have a full lockdown.
Read any statement by any senior officer in any force this weekend.
They don't have the manpower to police a full lockdown.
The UK has 123000 police, at full strength.
1 officer for every 536 people.
If 10m people decide to go for a walk/to the beach/park etc
then they can.
Al and cronies realise this, have been advised of this, so are hoping that no-one in the wider populace figures this out anytime soon.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 04/04/2020 18:05

get a taxi? do you think in other lockdown countries you can pop out whenever you want.

Oh yes, of course everyone can afford a taxi can’t they? Confused

Gwenhwyfar · 04/04/2020 18:05

"Other lockdown countries you can still go to the shops hmm"

Yes, I've heard of some where you have to show your shopping list, but the police officer wouldn't know whether you really need more bread or not. There are also some countries where you give your list to a worker inside and wait outside.

BeetrootRocks · 04/04/2020 18:06

Takeaway chips by a river sounds lovely.

Gwenhwyfar · 04/04/2020 18:07

"get a taxi? "

Taxis now are for when necessary only. You shouldn't be encouraging it over walking. It involves a risk of transmission.

Gwenhwyfar · 04/04/2020 18:08

It does Beetroot, but I had been told that I wasn't allowed to go and sit outside so I'd like some clarification.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 04/04/2020 18:08

Bread and milk are essentials but surely people can buy enough for a week?

We couldn’t buy enough for a week at one point and even when we can we only have enough space for a couple of cartons

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 04/04/2020 18:08

The message from the experts seems to be that the closer we can get to complete lockdown, the less the virus will spread, and this will mean fewer deaths - and given how many people are dying, worldwide (including a 5-year-old, today), I can understand why people want to do everything possible to prevent more deaths.

I think it is possible to sympathise with the reasons why people want a complete lockdown, and to understand how worried and scared they are, whilst also accepting that the people who are out mostly have good reasons for their trip. And there are people who are flouting/ignoring the guidelines, and they are putting people at risk - and if we do end up with a stricter lockdown, it will be their fault, at least in part.

ilovecakeandwine · 04/04/2020 18:09

Yes @Gwenhwyfar I mean I'm not saying every country in the world I'm not Wikipedia , but yes many countries are only permitted like us to go to the supermarket and for medical needs .

Gwenhwyfar · 04/04/2020 18:09

"Unless it's loo rolls I guess."

Or tampons, or tooth paste...

MrsSnitchnose · 04/04/2020 18:11

@Eckhart Are you even British with that attitude? Grin
