People demanding a full lock down

It really really annoys me! Most of us are following rules. Not even going for a walk most days. People are kicking off on my local corna page that theres more cars in town today. So they now think we need a full lock down.

Firstly it's the weekend. More people will be shopping due to being at work all week? People might be shopping for other family and dropping it off.

Theres a police statement that the a52 is really quiet and they are saying well done for listening.

People are allowed out for walks. It's important for dogs, children and adults to get air and move around. It should be one walk a day. It can't be controlled if 400 people choose to do just that between 1-2pm or only 30 do. So yes the streets may sometimes show more people. But most of them are probably just going for a walk. The only thing we have left for our minds and health.

I'm not talking about people having picnics,
Travelling for an afternoon walk somewhere,
Sneaking to see family unless they need help.

I'm saying the majority of people are going to be doing the decent thing.

I think rather than fully locking us down fine the minority sat in groups and doing the "wrong" things. Give them a full lockdown but don't punish the many decent people.

The parents/people in flats without gardens need to walk

Young children need to move.

We all need to move about.

Also i wish people would stop getting in a rage about cars being out. There are no online shopping slots. So thousands of locals will need to go out for food each week. Milk and bread etc will need buying for many every few days. Pet food needs buying. Prescriptions need collecting. Workers need to go to and from work.

A huge majority of people are following the rules. I'm sick of everyone being put into the same category. My kids have gone for their 3rd walk in two weeks just now with their dad. I'm sure people will be tutting and presuming we are another family out and not listening. They need to get out for 15 minutes today though. They are starting to climb the walls and get bored.

Far too many irate people at the moment.

@Gin96 not to begin with. He was well liked and to a vast majority of the German population he added logical measures and boosted the economy

People can go fuck themselves.

weller34 · 05/04/2020 18:42

Best post I’ve read on here👍🏻

Bunter888 · 05/04/2020 18:44

you just need to start wearing masks.

"Dr Nancy Leung Hiu-lan, Research Assistant Professor of School of Public Health, HKUMed and the research team recruited 246 people with suspected respiratory viral infections to breathe into a machine — the Gesundheit II — to compare the relative amount of virus in exhaled breath with or without a surgical face mask. The research team provided the same type of surgical mask to all the participants and ensured it was worn correctly.

“In 111 people infected by either coronavirus, influenza virus or rhinovirus, masks reduced detectable virus in respiratory droplets and aerosols for seasonal coronaviruses, and in respiratory droplets for influenza virus."

@NewYearNewJob123 @Cats0204

Well said need to have some sense and perspective

Soph7777 · 05/04/2020 18:47

It’s the language used, “I witnessed 5 people going for a walk” like they have committed murder, what has the world come to, if it’s like this now I dread to think what life is going to be like in the next 3 weeks.

I agree, people are getting really really silly.

I think it gives people a sense of authority and makes them feel good about being able to 'tell other people off'. It's very pathetic.

I think a lot of people need to calm down, follow the rules and not watch what others are doing - leave that to the police and government.

Kentonian12 · 05/04/2020 18:48

I am surprised the government have not stopped exercise etc. If people are taking the mickey and think they know better than medical experts then this will continue until the government say okay enough is enough. Is is unfair too those staying in and more importantly very unfair too those trying to save people's lives in NHS. They would want to be saved is they got sick so complete hypocrites for putting those trying to save them at risk. If not careful the government will get the army to enforce the lockdown by helping the police keep order. The police should impose substantial fines not £60. To stop this situation.

OMG!! I've got a neighbour who goes out at least 8-10 times everyday. He constantly has friends over on a daily basis and they stay over. Nothing has changed for him. I reported to the police and on the councils website and no one wants to know or act on it. I'm in the 'at risk' category and couldn't bare the thought of putting myself or others at risk. I'm following the guidelines as are millions of you, but for some reason, certain people think the 'lockdown' rules dont apply to them. To get us all through this a lot quicker maybe the government do now need to be firmer and put us on a total lockdown. Perhaps name, shame and fine those found out when they're not suppose to (without legitimate reason) and set a president that they stick with. Seems to be the only option available now, unless anyone has any other good ideas??

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 05/04/2020 18:50

Milk and bread are essentials but you don't need to go out every few days to get them. Just freeze them.

And if you don't have room to freeze them? I keep food in my freezer so I don't have to go to the supermarket as often and I go to the corner shop for milk. If I put bread and milk in there I'll have to shop for meals more often, meaning I'd come into contact with far more people.

Miljea · 05/04/2020 18:51

Unlike me, I've cut to the end after reading the first 100 odd posts.

I think a full lock down would be an error at this stage.

If MN has taught me one thing, it's that people have little concept and no interest in other people's lives.

I'm MC. In a nice 4 bedroom house, 2 sitting rooms so DH comfortably WFH; good WiFi, student DC sorted 😊, 14x11m back garden, estate set in a woodland where we can, and do, comfortably self-distance as we have wide pavements and woodland walks.

However, I know there is a world out there of overcrowded flats in inner cities. A world of low wages, zero hours contracts, 10 years of austerity.

When we all trill that people are SUNBATHING 😠😠😠 thus the whole country must, immediately LOCKDOWN I think of those flat dwellers.

And personally, all the media's 'illustrations' of all these abhorrent sunbathers looks to me like small groups, 2-4 people, very much socially distanced, and not moving around, I go 'Why am I supposed to feel outraged about that?'

DCOkeford · 05/04/2020 18:53

@Cam2020

Copy & Paste from The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020

  1. During the emergency period, no person may participate in a gathering in a public place of more than two people except—

(a)where all the persons in the gathering are members of the same household,
(b)where the gathering is essential for work purposes,
(c)to attend a funeral,
(d)where reasonably necessary—
(i)to facilitate a house move,
(ii)to provide care or assistance to a vulnerable person, including relevant personal care within the meaning of paragraph 7(3B) of Schedule 4 to the Safeguarding of Vulnerable Groups Act 2006,
(iii)to provide emergency assistance, or
(iv)to participate in legal proceedings or fulfil a legal obligation.

I don't wish to be rude, but how about you actually read the regulations, rather than just frothing about what you 'think'?

Government ministers, as individuals, have literally no authority to add to, update or amend the legislation.

The only thing that is binding upon you (in relation to gatherings) is the precise text above.

Alicatz66 · 05/04/2020 18:55

I haven't read the entire thread ... but someone was enraged that a person was " coughing by my hedge" !!!!!!!! .... this will surely go down in history with naice ham !!!!

DCOkeford · 05/04/2020 18:55

Government ministers, as individuals, have literally no authority to add to, update or amend the legislation.

Well, they do, but not in the context of a press briefing etc...

Shaz1970 · 05/04/2020 18:56

I get my milk from a milkman that comes every few days and takes away empty bottles which is better than going to the shop and bread isnt essential to buy every day either you can freeze it. It's full of bad carbs anyhow. I not sure about a full lockdown but do believe more businesses should be closed as lots of non essential businesses are still open. Maybe also do what Khon Kean are doing in Thailand. Temperature is takin before you go in and you have to sanitize your hands. Only one door open so you have to pass someone who will check temperature first.

Hanywany · 05/04/2020 18:58

I definitely think there should be a full lockdown there was people the other day actually having a picnic in there cars, outside their cars and generally blocking walkways ot distancing themselves generally being total selfish bastards also letting there children walk about without shoes on! I'm in london by the way! Also there have been people gathered together blocking streets for other people trying to get past and distance etc! Just like any other day where I am! No one is listening! Such selfish selfish bankers Angry

WTF Is a 'full' lockdown, and whilst I don't see it as a punishment, its not for 'my' own good … Were under 'Lockdown' to protect the vunerable, the elderly and the shambles that is the tory NHS. I have no issue following the guidelines at all BUT lets all be clear, for 95% of the population its not for our own good its for the good of the those who are most at risk. BEFORE . the keyboard Kaisers start there shite, I have no objection to doing what I have been asked to.

Hanywany · 05/04/2020 18:59

Wankers not bankers

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 05/04/2020 19:01

Unfortunately Milk and More aren't taking any more customers delivery isn't an option at the moment. I looked at it in the past but wasn't going to pay their prices when I can use a local shop.

As I said before bread, which isn't full of bad carbs if you don't eat the whole loaf, can be frozen if you have the room which a lot of us don't.

Miljea · 05/04/2020 19:01

purpkebunny oh dear. You've been suckered in, haven't you?

The idea is that we socially distance.

The 5.30am runner is likely to encounter all but nobody out there; and to be able to avoid by a wide margin, anyone they do see.

Later on in the day, she may need to take her DC out for a walk. She will need to be more careful, but should be able to socially distance them all.

She has limited the risks to everyone in both cases.

What is she doing wrong?

Watch with your net curtain twitching or it might be you they come after next.

Pishposhpashy · 05/04/2020 19:01

I stopped reading after the first po faced melt claimed milk and bread were not essentials.

Pishposhpashy · 05/04/2020 19:02

Assume the anti carb brigade have also been in too.

doghairismyglitter · 05/04/2020 19:02

twinkle2306 actually there are lots of ways you can mentally and physically satisfy your dogs needs without going for walks

If a full strict lockdown means no exercise, and dogs have to go weeks/months without a walk, what happens when their claws get so long from having no pavement natural claw clipping & they become long, sharp & painful for them, potentially causing long term damage, with no vet you can go to?

Pishposhpashy · 05/04/2020 19:03

Milk and bread are essentials but you don't need to go out every few days to get them. Just freeze them.

Haven't got a freezer.
