Is a recession coming?

Just that really.

What are people's thoughts on the property market and a recession?

I've seen a few threads on here and tbh, apart from arguing no one makes a clear or valid point.

(Please don't give me abuse, I'm just looking for people's thoughts - not to be told it's obvious). Thanks 😃

Yes

Zxyzoey31 · 03/04/2020 10:31

Of course!

Medievalist · 03/04/2020 10:31

I imagine so.

Ninkanink · 03/04/2020 10:31

Yes.

OutingMyself · 03/04/2020 10:31

It's already here isn't it?

KaronAVyrus · 03/04/2020 10:32

More likely a depression

Deux · 03/04/2020 10:32

Stupid question, of course it is.

HoffiCoffi13 · 03/04/2020 10:32

We’re already in one.

catscatscatseverywhere · 03/04/2020 10:32

I think it is. Not sure how UK’s going to cope. Depends on how long the lockdown is going to be. We should be fine if not more than 3 months, but 6 months lockdown sounds dreadful for our wallets.

PurpleDaisies · 03/04/2020 10:32

This really is obvious.

Deux · 03/04/2020 10:34

Millions unemployed, no money circulating in the economy, massive government borrowing. Hardly going to be ambrosia is it.

goldenorbspider · 03/04/2020 10:34

Stupid question, of course it is.

^^ was there really any need?

Deux · 03/04/2020 10:35

Yes, every need.

ChipotleBlessing · 03/04/2020 10:36

Umm, nearly a million people have just registered for universal credit. ‘Coming’ isn’t the right word.

Bearbehind · 03/04/2020 10:36

With the levels of money the government is throwing at this, there has to be some tough times ahead

Plus, so many people being out of work for however long it may be is going to massively dent consumer confidence and that will take a long time to recover

morewineplease1 · 03/04/2020 10:36

Honestly... why do people need to be rude!

I'm asking for people's thoughts on the housing market and a recession. I've asked not be rude and the responses are so rude.

I don't know why I bother!

Yes, I think so but maybe not immediately. I think there will be a very large bounce as people buy/buy/buy.

So think the effects may not be felt for a quarter.

Skeeter2020 · 03/04/2020 10:38

Yes

Deux · 03/04/2020 10:38

OP, if you genuinely want to know more, google something like ‘introductory macro economics for beginners’ and find some YouTube videos.

maa1992 · 03/04/2020 10:38

Yes

morewineplease1 · 03/04/2020 10:38

I've never lived through a recession, I just want to know what will happen and what the outcome of this will be for many people.

I don't need people to be so aggressive. It's new for me and I'm trying to educate myself around it. I am on maternity leave right now and worried about my job when I go back to work.

ChipotleBlessing · 03/04/2020 10:40

Unless you are under 12, you have loved through a massive recession.

Cornettoninja · 03/04/2020 10:40

Yes, more likely a global depression.

morewineplease1 · 03/04/2020 10:41

Ok, let me re-phrase. The recession didn't affect me in 2008.

Many are saying it will come in a few months. Some are saying it's here now.

Will some even be affected?
